Should be introduced at NAIAS 05, along with a new diesels. A supercharged version is also planned to keep it ahead of its sportier little brother, the L320.
Here is what Autoexpress says about this:
Rangie's Light Show
The ultimate in luxury off-roading is getting a facelift - and pictures in the current issue of Auto Express magazine shed some light on the new look! Our spies caught this Range Rover on test in Germany. The revised 4x4 is set to be unveiled at the Detroit Motor Show in January, and will appear in UK showrooms the following autumn.
Bigger and more powerful lamp clusters are the most significant external change, while the radiator grille is expected to lose at least two of its bars in a bid improve engine cooling. But that's not all - there will also be fresh engines and uprated suspension.
The revised Range Rover will mark the end of the off-roader's reliance on BMW for powerplants, replacing them with Jaguar-sourced V8 petrol and V6 diesels. Entry-level cars will offer the 190bhp V6 already confirmed for the next Discovery, while large-capacity V8s will power the flagship models. A new 300bhp 4.4-litre unit will be used, and a still-secret 450bhp supercharged V8 is also under development. However, plans for a luxury V12 model have been dropped. Manual and auto gearboxes will be available for the V6, but the V8 is set to be auto only.
Improving the car's handling could be more complicated, though. Because the Range Rover is derived from the BMW X5's platform, its chassis won't accommodate the computer-controlled terrain response system that debuted in the new Discovery. Instead, the Rangie is expected to have a carefully tuned version of the current set-up to deal with the increase in power. Although prices haven't been confirmed, the new line-up is likely to start from 47,000 - a small increase over the current model.

SOURCE: http://www.motorline.cc

RANGE ROVER GETS A GRILLING AND JAG V-8
Barely a month after Land Rover announced its 2005 Range Rover, this facelifted 2006-model-year car, codenamed L322, complete with enlarged grille was spied by an AutoExpress reader.
After a September update dumping old BMW interior kit in favour of gadgetry borrowed from the new Discovery, the facelift will continue that trend when its unveiled at Detroit next January. The cars BMW-sourced engines and more of its interior componentry will be dropped in favour of newer, cheaper alternatives.
Most significantly, Jaguar-sourced V8 engines will move in under the Rangies bonnet - developments of the normally aspirated and supercharged petrol eights in the XJ saloon. They will eventually be followed by a new turbodiesel V8.
450hp? Nah not that high. 2 new engines when it debuts, it will be a 2006MY car. New RR sport rims, the side vent is the same, but now is split in the middle. The front lights and grill are right off the Sport, and the new engines produce 305hp from the NA 4.4, and the supercharged 4.2 makes 400hp.

Don't forget Jag will want a more powerful V8 blower for the new XKR at some point. 450-500 HP sounds OK. And a 300 HP 4 litre V8 diesel is on the cards for the XJ, so that'll probably make it's way to Solihull too.

I don't think that Land Rover is going to get more than the 4.2 Supercharged 390bhp, or that it needs more anyway. 390 Is more than X5, ML, Touareg, and base Porsche. Why do they need to try to compete with a supercar manufacturer on the road?
Now as for the diesels, THERE a nice V8 TDi will do the job for Range Rover...

The Diesel remains the same 3.0 from BMW for now. The gasoline engines will be 300 HP for the NA 4.4 and 400 for the supercharged 4.2 as told by Ascariss

This was pretty much expected as they not really gonna need to up the power on the Rangie... the 4.4 normal and supercharged are more than powerful enough... I've seen one of these supercharged Rangies testing on the public roads, and its very quick!!!
The Diesel, i had a feeling that they might not use the 2.7 V6 because it is a little lacking in power (although torquey).. my guess is that the Diesel V8 will find its way into the car in late 05 / early 06...

Nice, but not a lot has been changed. What about the inside, did they do anything in there?

iamalittlepepper
12-26-2004, 09:14 PM
yeah I noticed that too.. they are now seperated horizontally instead of vertical fin design of yore..
I haven't seen any interior pictures as yet.. I though the interior changes is notably change from the BMW/ Alpine/Becker NAV (last year) sourced unit to a PAG unit?
