The World Rally Championship looks set to be boosted by the news that Suzuki will join the series next season. Following the loss of four manufacturers (Mitsubishi, Skoda, Peugeot and Citroen) in a short space of time, the WRC is already planning to welcome back Citroen and now Suzuki in 2007.
The World Rally Championship is going through a transition period as new regulations designed to reduced costs and a new winter calendar have been introduced rejuvenate its appetite towards manufacturers.
Mitsubishi, Skoda, Peugeot and Citroen left the series at the end of 2005 due to the ever-increasing costs, but Mitsubishi are currently planning a return in 2007 and Citroen have already confirmed their participation with Sebastien Loeb driving a newly-developed Citroen C4.
Peugeot's mother group, PSA, which also owns Citroen, have decided to move the Peugeot brand into Le Mans with a diesel-powered prototype, while Skoda's return as a manufacturer looks set to be put off until 2008.
However, Hyundai are reported to be planning a return to the series after pulling out in 2003, while Suzuki are set to announce their step up from the Junior ranks and run the SX4 hatchback in the WRC from 2007.
The Japanese manufacturer is set to unveil further details of their WRC plan at the Geneva motorshow on February 28th, and as a new entry, they would only be obliged to enter eight events in its opening season.

souce: http://www.eurosport.com/rally...shtml

hey Reppu, SX4 not real SUV.it's a crossover.
and don't underestimate crossover. for your info.
Suzuki have participated in JWRC for last few years
with Ignis(a crossover car) an won champions
over real car like C2, Fiesta,Clio,206,Astra.
So, why SX4 can't do a job for Suzuki.

Modified though, but still a "suv" if you want to call it that.

Good to c other manufactures joinin the Rally.... i stopped watchin it a while ago coz i got bored of the same cars competing....
I want Toyota bak though.... i hope they are able to one day.... if they did i'd gain my interest bak into the sport.... I know they compete here in Australia.... but thats a Prototype class car thing.... and it uses the Celica GT-4s Turbo engine which is OLD...
