It'd be really hard to pick ony one in this group coz they are all so different, but good in their own way.
So, I'm gonna rate each car individually, placing less emphasis on how they compare to each other...

Nitro 3.5
Territory 2.5
Santa Fe 4
Wrangler 4.5
CX-7 4.5
Outlander 3
FJ-Crap 2

Dodge Nitro - 4 Great Looking. Great car. Bring it here.
Ford Territory Turbo - 4.5 Whaddyareckon mate. The Tezza can spoil the German X5 and Cayenne's high tech performance Champagne party with a sixpack of VB's and a BBQ? You bloody well bet! It handles just as good too, and interior is amazing.
Hyundai Santa Fe - 3 Yes, yes. Good and all, especially in Diesel Form. But It just seems to be too much like something I've seen too many of already, every day. Where's innovation, mate?
Jeep Wrangler Unlimited - 4.99 A Jeep, with added practicallity and a Better Gearbox - AND an incredible Diesel engine, deserves near top marks.
Mazda CX-7 - 4.98 It's just excellent for what it's meant to be for. It changes conceptions about CUV's, has great on-road credentials and lots of space and practicality. And the design! Can We give mazda European Nationality?
Mitsubishi Outlander - 4 It looks great, Interior seems great, and so far, it looks like a very convincing package. Pity about the 4X4 system...
Toyota FJ Cruiser - 3 What was wrong with the Land Cruiser 75? FJ may be good, but its ugly. And utterly pointless, except in the land of Country Music and Elvis Presley
WOW. There's a lot of lack of knowledge about the Territory's true talents

The Mk2 version of the Korean-makers best-selling SUV has grown, in size, engine & features, and is a powerful contender in the market in front of it. My love for the Mazda CX-7s design makes it my 2nd pick, its revvy 2.3L doesnt hurt it either. The Unlimited is a very rugged machine that has more room & better quality for the new model year, its composite removable roof system is practical & its go-anywhere "Trail Rated" capabilities is now improved. The Territory & Outlander both have great styling & has an outstanding list of standard features (including a powerful V6 for the Outlander). The quality of the FJ Cruiser is unquestionable, though it just does not strike me as anything special to wow the market. The Nitros build quality needs some hefty work, i can honestly say i hate this vehicle
Guys lets include in a brief explanation for our choices if we can

santa fe-4.5 major improvement over the 1st generation
Mazda Cx7-5 one of the best looking cars in mazdas lineup and out of all crossovers out right now
Wrangler Unlimited-4 now you can bring people along with you as you climb those 70 degree cliffs.
Territory turbo- 3.5 i dunno anything about this except it that it looks cool...
Outlander- 3.5 huge improvement over the previous. doesnt get a 4 because of the horrible back seat.
FJ- 4 needs a bit of a power boost and an interior facelift
Nitro-3 definitely has a dodge look to it, but the interior is bad.

I honestly (removing all bias) can not believe people are giving the Territory Turbo 1 - 2 points! It is as good as the equal X5, but half the price and minus the badge.
Dodge Nitro - 1.5points
Ford Territory Turbo - 4points
Hyundai Santa Fe - 2.5points
Jeep Wrangler Unlimited - 2points
Mazda CX-7 - 5points
Mitsubishi Outlander - 4points
Toyota FJ Cruiser - 3points
