Volvo C30 - 4.5
Skoda Roomster - 4.5
FIAT Grande Punto - 4.5
Toyota Belta / Yaris Sedan - 4
Hyundai Elantra - 3
MINI Cooper - 2.5
Nissan Sentra - 1
Biases aside (I own a Toyota Yaris Sedan), the wiiner of this category goes to..3 cars. I cannot pick between the Grande Punto, Roomster or the C30 since all are such great looking, smartly-priced, well-equipped little cars. I like the C30s interior design & build-quality, the Roomsters interior room & snazzy exterior styling, & the Puntos price & Italian-craftsmanship. Like i mentioned before, i own a Toyota Yaris Sedan. For the $12,500 that i paid for it (MSRP $14,100, astonishing discount, dont ask me how i did it i wont tell), its a great car to drive around the city that i live in, extremely peppy thanks to its lightweight design & smooth 106hp 1.5L. Sure the automatic transmission is jerky but the features that come with the car, including a surprisingly roomy interior, a super cold & instantaneous-heated ventilation system, marvelous interior plastics and an iPod capable stereo, its a f*cking steal; a great city car to park right next to the BMW M3. The Elantra could easily be one of Hyundais most important models. The new version of this vehicle has sharper styling (notice how i didnt mention improved?), better amenities & superior build quality to the models it replaces, kudos to Hyundai for going this far. As i mentioned in the Bang-for-the-buck thread, i much prefer the last generation MINI Cooper. Im not saying this all-new model is rubbish, its terrific. More tout bulldoggish styling, better handling, more power (just a tad), more features & accessories (that for some reason arent available to the US market till March of next year), better economy, a cult status that will last a while, & a navigation system module that doesnt look out of place. Its one ingenious package that BMW has concocted. No Nissan, i will not live in my car for 7 days..1pt
Guys lets include in a brief explanation of our choices if we can

its his opinion. let it be.
im not gonna vote for this one as half of the cars arent sold near me (or not yet at least) and i dont want to be biased towards half the nominees based on looks alone. i mean if it was one car not sold near me i would vote but if its half the noms then screw it.

MINI Cooper - 5 - drives great, has a lot of character, and is affordable - how much better can you get
Hyundai Elantra - 2.5 - value, value and value; nice entry, but I think that the competitors have it beat in performance and style
Nissan Sentra - 3.5 - spacious and cool, just not as good as the competition
Toyota Yaris - 2 - cheap inside, cheap outside - the most non-Toyota made, and oh so ugly
Skoda Roomster / Scout - 2 - gets all the great parts from VW for it's platform; needs the 2.0t and the DSG from the GTI though; boring style and dull interior
Fiat Grande Punto - 3 - sharp, but needs a thing called build quality; Italian style is great and the interior is quite nice
Volvo C30 - 4.5 - just look at that interior: gorgeous; drives nicely and has some pep (though I'm not a fan of 5-cylinder engines at all - not as economical as a 4, not as powerful as a 6); needs a nose job bad - needs some excitement and differentiation from the rest of the line-up (only short-coming)

My pick:
Volvo C30 - 5
For it's looks and quality on both areas
Mini Cooper - 4.5
For it's Improve on it's looks everywhere
Skoda Roomster - 4
The exterior of Roomster makes Mini MPV going to the next level. The interior looks strong like VW.
FIAT Grande Punto - 4
It's proberly my favourite one from fiat but some of it's features are bit poor e.g. no automatic.
Nissan Sentra - 3
Looks nice but it looks bit like Tilda
Toyota Belta/Yaris Sedan - 3
It has good looks on interior but not some on the outside
Hyundai Elantra - 2.5
The exterior looks bit poor but the interior looks better.

Just would like to point out that the definition of Car of the Year, and other similar awards, are not simply beauty contests; while the design and style should be part of the judgment, they should not be your sole determinations. Factors such as importance, innovation, improvements, quality and many others should be considered.

Fiat Grande Punto - 4.5 - Finally, a successful vehicle for Fiat.
Hyundai Elantra - 1 - Can't say anything bad about it because the Hyundai fanatics will kill me in my sleep.
Mini Cooper - 5 - Improves an already great car.
Nissan Sentra - 3 - Design is kinda meh, but it has some really great features like Bluetooth.
Skoda Roomster/Scout - 4 - Finally, an unboring Skoda.
Toyota Belta/Yaris Sedan - 2.5 - Better than the Echo, but it really isn't up to par with the rest of the Toyota lineup.
Volvo C30 - 3.5 - Overall package is really nice, and from what I've heard, it's a great car to drive.

Fiat Grande Punto - 4points
(Although thre quality is pretty average, it uses next to no fuel, looks fantastic and is like a go-cart in how it drives)
Hyundai Elantra - 1point
(it looks horrible, quality is desireless, engine is boring and it drives poorly)
Mini Cooper - 3points
Drives great and still looks the part, but it doesn't look different enough from the old model and while the new engine is a generation ahead it's not enough IMO for this overpriced car)
Nissan Sentra - 2points
(looks horrible, and it seems to be a pretty average car. I`didn't even know it existed so that proves how boring it is)
Skoda Roomster/Scout - 4points
(Looks great, is functionable, quirky and roomy. Just doesn't deserve 5 points though)
Toyota Belta/Yaris Sedan - 3 points
(Looks crap. Quality inside is a slight let-down, but overall inside is great and useful but it just looks like another booted small hatch)
Volvo C30 - 3points
(Was never a fan of this car. It looks ok and the inside is yet again Volvo cool, but I can tell already the Golf will do it all better sadly)
I tried to be as objective as possible but the way a car looks is a big thing for me and can put me right off a car.
