well, i've changed my mind and decided the s-class is most deserving. i was gonna choose the fusion/milan/zephyr, but i think the s-class is more globally significant.
3 points - Mercedes S-Class
2 points - Ford Fusion/Mercury Milan/Lincoln Zephyr
1 point - Honda Civic

12-19-2005, 05:43 PM
3 points: VW Passat
2 points: Ford Fusion
1 point: PONTIAC SOLSTICE... BTW, can we add the Solstice? I think it meets the requirements above quite well. It will be remembered 20 yrs from now more than any other car in this thread IMO and it's really beautiful!!!
3- Honda Civic
2- Mazda 5
1- S-class
The Civic is undeniably the best in its segment, and will probably hold this title until its replacement comes and takes it, this model is unique and different from all of the other small cars out there. All said Honda did a good job. The 5 is just what most people truly need; it's functional, fuel effiecient, and well priced. It can easily handle pretty much any family's demands just as good as the SUV they're now in. Finally, the S-class is just the pinnacle of luxury, and in my opinion the current class topper.

3 Points - Ford Fusion and crew : The fact this is posibly the best car Ford has ever produced alone is one reason why it should win. Finally, Ford are getting their act together, and with that new found sence of quality it just pushed the Fusion up the top in terms of drivability, quality, looks etc. While a few peices are missing, that doesn't dint it at all!
2 points - VW Passat : The only car this year that is great in every respect, this is a heart drive car as well as head driven! This is my favourite release this year, and I'm sure I'm not alone on that! It just kills the old Passat in every way possible by miles, and it is now a true 3 series rival at thousands less!
1 Point - Hyundai Sonata : The interior sucks, sorry, it just does. But the outisde is truly amazing, there is no hint of its Cheap Car Korean origion there. It packs power, features, quality (I hate the inside so much) and everything desirable about a midsize car, except a nice inside. Fix that dash design up, and Hyundai, this will be my first car! It sounds like I hate this car, but I love it, the inside just lacks polish.

3 points - Ford triplets, especially the Milan though.
2 points - VW Passat
1 point - Mazda5

12-19-2005, 08:14 PM
It didn't say you could nominate more than one car in each category, so I had go with the Fusion. Drop the Solstice then, and give 1 point to the MB S-class.

3 pts - VW Passat. It's up to it's heritage, and it's probably the most important model in current VW lineup. Besides, it is beautiful and a dream to drive
2 pts - Citr┬Łen C6. I was gonna give it the 3 if it wasn't for it's interior shared with C5 and 407. I also miss some cutting edge technology. A DS heir is always a highlight
1 pt - Mazda MX-5. Again, a lot of heritage here. It is exactly the car it should be, and that's something not so common.

12-20-2005, 03:10 AM
3 pts - Citroen C6
2 pts - Ford Fusion
1 pt - VW Passat

Plus....It looks so damm evil
1Pts- Citroen C6 - For the Citroen personality and thinking into the future.

3 points - Hyundai Sonata (a car no longer marked as a pretender in the class, rather a true contender)
2 points - Infiniti M (see the nominee thread for my reasons)
1 point - Mazda MX-5 (need I say more?)
Honorable mention:
Citroen C6 - amazing car (only from what I read) but I have yet to test it myself so I can't objectively evaulate the car. (Sorry I can't vote for a car based on other people's opinion ) Bring it to the US
also Mazda 5 - would be up there if MX-5 wasn't on the nominee list

Wow - COTY voting is definitely more difficult this year than TOTY and SUVOTY, as there are some really great selections here. Even though I feel that the Infiniti is by far the most well-rounded of the cars I've listed, I don't think it's as important to its company or shakes up the market as much as the other two. So here's what I've come up with:
#1 for 3 points: Hyundai Sonata
#2 for 2 points: Honda Civic
#3 for 1 point: Infiniti M
Mike

12-24-2005, 11:41 AM
3 points= Mazda5~!
2 points= Honda Civic
1 points= Hie-un-die (LOL) Sonata

12-24-2005, 12:10 PM
3 pts: Charger: Had one as a rental for a week. Little dissappointed by the interior quality, but in terms of bang for the buck its hard to beat. Definately should be considered by anyone who wants a sedan with some character
2 pts: Citroen C6: Haven't seen one is the flesh, but i'll vote for it based on its looks and interesting character
1 pts: Ford/Mercury/Lincoln: I wish these weren't bundled together. I would give the Fusion the top spot if it were on its own. However, the Zephr is a dissapointment and could have/should have been so much more.

uh, who the heck gets to choose the candidates? where is the 3er? where is the IS? the jetta? the A3? the corvette? the solstice? the eclipse? wth? where are half of the brand new cars that came out this year?!
