It only took the better half of a decade... what a joke..
Wait til McLaren comes back with an all new "F1"... 1000hp, 2500 pounds, something insane.. with McLaren's involvement in F1 and partnership with Michellin, I dont think they'll have a problem engineering a Tire that can support speeds up to 275-300mph.
Especially now with the McLaren Mercedes road car partnership over.. FINALLY McLaren has the ability and time to build the cars THEY WANT to build.

What I find funny is that the McLaren couldn't even do it in stock form, while the Koenigsegg could. Wonder how fast a regular F1 could go. (hint-not as fast)

From what I can see, some people obviously think the CCR is not deserving of the record and refuse to believe that the F1 is not the fastest.

the f1's not that great...I'm not crazy about it anyways...and other than bragging rights, who cares about top speed...all I care about is 0-60...and frankly i wouldn't buy an f1 even if i had the money...instead I would just get a vette, send it into lingenfelter, get the engine fully rebuilt and twin turbo'd and get a car that does 60 in below 2 seconds and can go 240 if not more...sure, it's modified, but it sure as hell costs a whole hell of a lot less and for the price of it, I would still have plenty of money left over to buy and modify several other cars...such as a dinan tuned/supercharged e39 m5

My take on this is that it Mclaren's record held for almost 10 years, and once it was broken it was done by only about 2mph more. so it's not like one car spnked the other. on another note, don't forget that there are other qualities taht define the overall performance of a car, not just speed. If I recall correctly the F1 in stock form was an amazing handling car (producing F1 race car style downforce without the need of giant wings). Can the koenigseg out doe the F1 in overall top speed? yes. Now, can the koenigsegg out perform the F1 in a balanced driving trial? I guess that remains an open question. All else being equal, my preference is still with the f1 (gotta love that center driving position).

McLarenF1 from what I hear had great handling, but a very difficult car to drive at the limit. Twitchy read end, floaty front end.

I think every car is hard to drive at it's limits... 300 km/h or over, it always hard to drive at these speeds...
McLaren is truly a legend, and is the best car ever designed.
