Toyota just held its European dealer network meeting in Barcelona, attended by every single dealer in Europe.
News from the show:
They have shown:
- Aygo - most info you already know, and you will see all the pics from Geneva soon. Production has been started in Feb 2005, and it will go on sale around Europe by June.
- Yaris - you have seen it already (Vitz), it will go on sale at the end of 2005.
- Rav4 - body was on display as well. Bigger, beefier. Starting sales at the end of the year, begining of 2006.
- Corolla - 2007 Corolla has been shown and it was considered an hit of the event. I am not sure if it was in final stage of the design. As with everything else, it is bigger, befier and very good looking.
New Diesels - 2.2 D4-D 150 and 180 hp (400nm) versions for Avensis, Corolla Verso will start selling in June 2005 around Europe.
All of the newer models (Rav4, Corolla) had smaller front lights (Lexus likey?), and were bigger than before. Toyota expects 1,200,000 sales in 2008 when all of these new models arrive at full strenght. Dealers were very happy with what they actually saw, especially Corolla which was suprise since it looked really good.

I was supposed to go, but I didnt... After all that was seen, i feel extremly bad now about not going :-(. SUX.

I wonder if the US will get the euro Corolla this time? Whether they release the euro version or not they usually share general shapes and with the preview of the 06 Civic SI I think Toyota will follow and make the Corolla a little more agressive..

And next SI is just responding to tC...
In fact, our current Corolla sedan is really for +60 yr old ppl, I wish we get Euro sedan

The Euro/JDM version looks much better than the US/ASEAN version, or at least in my opinion. And we get less variety.

I actually like the US sedan but I love the JDM/Euro hatchback over the Matrix...
I'm guessing the Corolla will be released in the end of 2006 for JDM and Euro market, then the beginning of 2007 for US..

They couldnt get close to any of the cars, except to some 20 Aygo's on display. Considering that these were all execs from dealerships (2 per dealership), I doubt anyone would leak the pics... and i didnt get to go :-(((((((((((((((

I think the Matrix is the US 5 door Corolla.. In the first brochure of the Matrix I have they call it Corolla Matrix. I hope we get the Corolla 5dr next time around.
I really want to see the new Corolla though.. I actually think its the 2nd nicest compact sedan after the Mazda3. I know alot of you guys might not like it but I know a couple of people who have one (particularly the Corolla-S) and its not that bad.

Personally, I prefer the Matrix to the Fielder stylistically.

The Corolla 5dr Hatch... Don't like the wagon. Don't get me wrong, the Matrix is alright but I think I see more 30+ driving it than its intended demographic.

If so, how far is it apart?

I found some-related news article:
http://www.autoexpress.co.uk/n....html

If you read it, you will see that they will offer three-door (codenamed: 980N) and five door variants (codenamed: 970m)
Heavily-disguised indeed (quite hard to even identify its actual shape) IMO.
