According to Autoweek, Jaguar is seriously considering expanding it's model line into, out of all segments, Sportwagon/Crossover territory. It seems like Jaguar is getting tired of losing sales to MB, BMW and PAG's own Volvo, and is finally making some moves (if tentative ones) in the direction of a new market segment. here is hoping that if they approve anything, it is first and foremost a Jaguar.
Here is the article for anyone who is interested:
http://www.autoweek.com/news.cms?newsId=101659

That's more or less what autobild said in December. It will be one of the new S-Types, alongside a sedan and wagon. It will be longer and higher than the wagon, but still retain a car-like quality and distance from the Range Rover (I'm paraphrasing from the original article here, which I take to mean, it's a car, not an SUV).
