From Today's Just-Auto:
TOUGH NEW CAR MARKET PROMPTS PSA PEUGEOT CITROEN TO PULL OUT OF WORLD RALLY CHAMPIONSHIP
Citing tougher conditions in the car market, PSA Peugeot-Citroen on Thursday said it would pull out of the World Rally Championship and review its participation in motor sports in 2005, with a view to enabling the group to significantly cut its sports budgets.
The French car maker has won five manufacturers titles and three drivers titles in five consecutive years.
These results reflect the diligent, passionate determination of each marque, backed by a substantial financial commitment to motor sports competition [and] Peugeot and Citron will remain strongly committed to the World Rally Championship in 2005, the company said in a statement.
However, PSA Peugeot Citron has decided that the marques will no longer take part in the WRC beyond that date.
posted by Santeno

http://carspyshots.proboards2....84552
That sucks... Maybe they can put the money into Formula 1 to replace Jaguar
BTW, isn't Mitsubishi pulling out as well?

Don't know about Mitsubishi.
But I doubt PSA will put their money elsewhere, least of all F1 - where the chances for success are small, and the costs are high.
However, congrats to them, they're hardly running with their tails between their legs - they've won some championships, both manufacturer and driver, and done the hard work. It's a shame they have to go.

I bet Markko Martin is wishing he stayed with Ford now! Ford have going from having no long term future in WRC to a full 4 year programme... hopefully by the time PSA quit there will be another manufacturer or two.
