HSV is used on the super hi performance Monaro in Ozland, so perhaps the Pontiac GTO HSV with the latest Corvette engine....the big one of course with how many BHP?

HSV is the go-fast division of Holden - they make over all Commodore variants. Similar to AMG and M.<p>Anyway, SV6000 - the only thing that comes to mind is a high-performance HSV with a modified AlloyTech V6; probably to combat the FPV F6 Typhoon.<p>But Fairlane? Um, I can only think of a LWB version of the Falcon, which has already been done - not too sure on that.<p>And Trailblazer registered in NZ? Holden must be considering to bring the Trailblazer here to Australia and other Oceaniac regions.

Actually, SV6000 - it would and could be the LWB Statesman or Caprice made over by HSV with the new GEN IV which is 6.0L. That's actually a much more logical nameplate.

Super Bee? Six Pack? Ooooooooooooo... methinks we might see low buck versions of the Charger with a high performance V6 on the horizon. Either that or another RWD creation of some sort.

Well, the HSV SV6000 mystery has been solved - it is nothing but a special edition HSV Z Series cars, with its build of a maximum of 100 cars. It also has a GM first - something that's called a DDI, it's basically like a Palm moulded into the cars interior.<p> <IMG SRC="http://www.hsv.com.au/cars/vz/wallpapers/sv6000_1024.jpg" BORDER="0">

Interesting, if Mazda made a Mazda9 they wouldn't have to make the Mazda6 too much bigger. The MX-6 was basically a 626 based coupe, so I would assume this would be based on the Mazda6. i have a question. just because the name is registered, does that mean the company has to use them? or can they just register all the names (like mazda registered all the rx-numbers) so no one else can use them regardless if that name is used or not?

TitanSteel

All of those names don't mean that they're going to make cars for all of them. You're right in that no one else can take them, but they also do that so that Mazda marketing / naming can position the vehicle created into a particular brand segment than matches with the alpha - numeric name.

They probably will launch a Mazda9 soon, as they need a bigger, more luxurious car in their lineup, mostly for boosting the company's image, even if it's already very good, anyway. The 'Zoom-Zoom' strategy seems to be working. Mazdas are sportier than ever and most of the models in the line-up look sensational.

Apparently there is a Great Wall Wingle! Found this on just-auto.com:<p>"Or how about a Great Wall Wingle? There was one at Paris – it’s a rugged looking crew-cab pick-up, ideal for construction work, though it’s unlikely any builder would be able to keep a straight face when told to “park your Wingle round the back”."

It's actually 750E, a mix of the BMW 750i and the old Mercedes 190E naming strategy.

Why does this topic always stay at the top without any new comments added? I used to visit a website called auto-report.net that posted all the new trademark registrations every quarter, but they recently blocked it to non-subscribers. If anyone has access to that site, feel free to share the news with us here!

I just a had a flash what the CLC could be: The next C-class sportcoupe? The coupe lineup would be "CL" - "CLS" (sedan) - "CLK" (kurz) - "CLC" (compact).<br>This would make sense because the new C-class sportcoupe will still be based on the old C-class and there might be an interest of not calling it "C-class" anymore.<br>The time of the registration could be another hint, since the new C-class sportcoupe can't be too far away.<br>Of course, "CLC" could also stand for CL convertible, but I doubt if the Ocean Drive will ever be produced. It was presented as a simple design study.

Usually the letters they use are from german words.. Compact in german is Kompakt. So that "C" could be something else. The problem is that not many german words begin with the letter C...

what about "Cabrio"? (--&gt; Ocean Drive)

silver-arrow
02-24-2007, 05:12 AM
this could be because the germans use both cabrio and kabrio cause its a french word. I think it could be a CL cabrio instead of the ocean drive

CosworthKid

The CL cabrio makes more sense to me than a 4-door S-Class convertible

silver-arrow
03-26-2007, 10:12 AM
ofcourse it does! Since Daimler is trying to save money, building a brand new car on the S-Class chassis is out of the question. Converting the CL coupe to a Cabrio will cost them penuts because they have the knowledge of making soft tops and no other changes will be done on the CL.<br>In my opinion, if mercedes is going to build a luxury cabrio...then its the CL

isnt porshe giving proper names now to their cars: touareg, cayman, panamera? of course,i doubt they'll ever drop 911 but a 958 would sound odd with rest of the range naming strategy.

could someone check if Ford registered any new names, especially for the Fiesta replacement

TitanSteel
06-27-2007, 05:30 AM
I see Ford F-750, and that's about it.<p>BMW just trademarked yesterday the names F2, F3, F4, F5, F6, F7, F8, and F9. I also see 555, X6, X1, Z2, and something known as SAS (related to SAV?).

CosworthKid
06-27-2007, 08:12 AM
Thats interesting...then again they could just be registering a bunch of names for the usual "just in case" reasons or for future concepts (X6 and X1 the exceptions of course).

Just noticed that Jaguar recently trademarked the name 'XE'<p>Could they be developing a potential E-Type successor? This could add substance to some of the rumours about the F-Type project being restarted <IMG NAME="icon" SRC="http://www.germancarfans.com/images/forums/banana.gif" BORDER="0"> <br>

Could E stand for spiritual succesor to E-type? Could this be a new F-Type concept? As the 'F' from 'F-Type' has already been taken by the new XF, 'XE' would better associate the new car with the legendary E-type.<p>As far as I know, Jaguar is preparing a small, lightweight alumunium coupe and roadster with simple folding softop. Mid-front engined, RWD, six-cylinder engines, two-seater, smaller than the XK. Minimalist interior and simple electronics.<p><br>

Maybe the name just might be to throw us off... Do Jaguar ever intend on building a 4X4/Crossover/SUV/whatever you call them nowadays?

The Phantom

Logic suggests that XE would be to XF as XK is to XJ.

mzoltarp

Although I would speculate that XE would be a little more back seat friendly as well as more high volume.

<br>Ford has filed for a trademark on the name Extend in relation to a “plug-in hybrid automobile,” a new report finds. Ford has stated that it is developing plug-in hybrid technology and hopes to have a vehicle to market within the next 5 to 10 years. Ford has also recently partnered with Southern California Edison to develop its plug-in hybrid technology.<p>It appears Ford will join General Motors and Toyota in the development of plug-in hybrids, although it sounds like Ford could be lagging behind its rivals. GM is planning to launch the Volt plug-in hybrid in 2010 with Toyota's plug-in hybrid following in 2011.<br>
