the lm002 was, undeniably,a trendsetter; 4X4,luxury car and dragster rolled into one WMD-type package!makes the hummer look "sickly" and still
rockets 0-60mph in a respectable 8.1sec.
does anyone possess lm003/lm00X pics or design sketches?
the abandoned drawings/design of the lm003 "borneo" from lambocars.com notwithstanding.
isn't the new VW engine in the jetta basically a sawed off Lambo V10? I thought i remembered reading that on this site but i may just be confusing facts.

To say that 5 cylinder engine in the Jetta is half of a lambo V10 is blasphemous. For one it is iron block for goodness sake and secondly its charcter is lazier than moet diesel engines. Its output of 150hp from 2.5L is disappointing considering the early 90's 2.5L VR5 produced 173hp. Finally Ut does not produce close to half of the lambo's power.
Frankly the engine is the old 8valve 4 pot with an extra cylinder and almost useless 4valve heads.

The new 5 cylinder was in fact derived from 1/2 of the Lamborghini V10 and that is my VW's own word. The fact that it is so underpowered is an embarassment to VW's engineering.

not really
the 2.5 is more the same cast-iron 2.0 that vw has been using for years that just so happens (probably no so coincidentally) to have the same bore and stroke and the lambo engine. thus they stuck the lambo aluminum cylinder head on it. for other upscale help, audi used to make 5-cyl engines, so they went to them to balance the thing - another quick fix that sounds good on paper. also it has a much lower compression ration than the lambo so that - get this - it runs on regular old 87 octane petrol. imagine that, an compact car that doesn't require premium. if anything, the embarassment is not to vw's engineering - its their management who decided to cheap out develop the engine quickly, and the marketting people who realized they could sell more small cars if they didn't require premium gas.
and what does this have to do with the lm002? absolutely nothing. i saw an lm002 for the first time in May, and I must say it is a very impressive vehicle, even today. Imposing in every way, yet somehow very poised for such a huge vehicle. I loved it, I want one. I do hope Lambo does another SUV like it, but sadly the next LM, if it actually is called that, looks right now like it will be far more conventional.
