I've heard a rumer not too long ago abou Nissan's 3.5L V6. What somebody told me is that with a turbo applied the stock connecting rods will stap when the engine reaches 400hp at the fly wheel. This made me suspicious as I've looked at many modified 350Zs and all seemed to have about 350hp except one that had a 4.5L V8. Is this really true, and could this be expected of Lexus's new 3.5L and Honda's 3.2L and 3.5L as well?<p>In a comparison Car and Driver tested a 3.2L Golf that had stock connecting rods and seemed to have a new clutch as the only part that didn't handle 550hp at the fly wheel (20psi). I heard of versions of that VW-Audi engine reaching an excess of 850hp. I'm sure new rods aren't the only new thing that the audi engine would need to reach that much hp, but still 550hp with stock connecting rods is impressive. Can Japanese engines handle around 20psi with just perhaps the turbo, intercooler and a new clutch?

I've heard of numerous 350Z's which are either single or twin turbo - and I don't hear anything about snapped connecting rods.
