Will the Miata suffer because of the increase in choices or continue to dominate the affordable market. The Pontiac is based priced below 20,000.00 Will there be enough buyers out there to support all three cars or will one not make it in the market place? Thoughts/comments?

sports car/roadster sales have been slipping lately; the new GM roadsters are definately going to the cars to watch tho
of course, the miata is timeless; just as the 2 generations behind it

Well, here in Europe it did ok against the Fiat Barchetta, MG F/TF and Toyota MR. So there should be a market for all three cars in the US, especially because GM isn't going after huge numbers for their cars anyway.

I think the MX-5 will survive, as with other cheap and small sports cars. There will always be a market for them, i just dont know how big or small it will be...

there will be a market, with the new mx-5 (btw, miata's name will no longer be used in the US ) and the future offerings of pontiac solistice/saturn sky, however, these cars will always be exclusively summer cars so although there will be market, it will not be big.
so sad miata's name is going to be dropped, we'll miss you
EDIT...just saw hornbag's post...so as you already saw my post, I concur his opinion

The Miata is dead in the water I predict. The second Miata was a lukewarm make over of the first one, and the new Miata looks like a half-hearted update of Miata 2. The Solstice and Sky and whatever the VW gets named will be strong competitors. This market is automotive "bling bling" and the latest styling is what will sell. Styling is trendy in this segment and when the trend is past, sales slide. The Miata was trendy in its first 2-3 years and it no longer is. That's a pity, because of the 4 vehicles mentioned in this post, it's probably the one most likely to please long term. Mazda needed to inject some real life into the Miata and they stood still.
