Someone had started a VW polo commercial thread a few days ago where the guy blew himself up but did nothing to the car, so I thought I would start this thread on a more friendlier basis and we can all share with each other what you thought were the most outrageous and/or the worst car commercials you've ever seen to date.
Go

To date, what are your most favorite, your least favorite, car commercials, and the one you thought that was the most outrageous/creative, etc
Go
-- Links encouraged but not required --
-- Links are encouraged but not required --

I like the Chevy Cobalt one where they are playing ball- kind of a cool idea.
I don't like the Pontiac G6 'count down till launch' one- pretty lame.

worst commercials: all those buick lacrosse ones...they are all lame, the one with the candle - fire hazard, please exercise common sense, the latest with tiger woods, wow...how much money did buick paid, for tiger to be its spokesperson...i wonder if tiger will ever buy a buick on his own
Most outrageous - all of the exciting car chases featured in hit movies (ex. james bond, bad boys II, Matrix, etc), now there's a way to get your message across and have your car get destroyed in pieces
The best - i have two
1) chevy promoting its 10 cars in 20 months...each car went on to the trailer, with ssr in reverse last - that was pretty cool
2) just saw the new hyundai sonata one, it was one of the best I've seen, clean and to the point - watch it here - http://worldwide.hyundai-motor...a.mpg - love that soundtrack, does anyone know the name of it?

IMO, the worse are those that show cars doing all kinds of crazy stunts that noone would ever do with them, and then they tell you how the car is so superior to the market leader.
My fondest memories of a car commercial was a Mercedes Benz on that was set to the tune of "Lord won't you buy me a Mercedes Benz". There were no other sounds on the comercial but janice's voice singing, and images of a mercedes driving at really high speeds. the last scen, as the son ends, the MB does a lateral slide and comes to a stop. Janice finishes the song, the screen fades to black and the 3-pointed star appears. Classic.

The best commercial I have seen this year is the one where Steve McQueen drives the new Ford Mustang around a corn field.
Volkswagen have decided to not seek damages from creatives Lee Ford and Dan Brooks who made the Volkswagen Polo Suicide advert which went viral all over the web in a matter of hours. Instead VW want Lee and Dan to say that they're sorry reports the Guardian today.
Volkswagen asked for 'original copies' of the spec ad, which was directed by Stuart Fryer, to be turned over to them and demanded that Mr Ford and Mr Brooks would never again infringe on the Volkswagen registered trademark.
As for second part... Well, I guess we both understand what's all about. This ad is not a mistake of some kind it's more about the way of making commercials nowadays. Love it or hate it but everybody talking about that one. Isn't that the first and foremost purpose of any advertising?
Yes you are right about the advertising purpose. however, one key ingredient was missing from this add, a product to legally advertise. My guess is that these guys did this with the intention of advertising themselves. they might bnever get VW as a client, but I'm sure someone somewhere is thinking... "I wonder what those guys can do for my product"..

The best is a tie between that new Golf GTi and the Honda 'Cog'.
The worst is probably where a car drives itself off a cliff because it's owner is attracted to the new Honda Accord. But it got put off the air a couple of days later.

How about the one being aired in NA for the new Mercury Montego. Dad is vacuuming car and child keeps throwing cereal on the floor. Ford's too embarrassed to even show the car and commercial has nothing to do with it. Waste of air time and money.

1. The Cadillac STS commercial where the 5-series and E-class are dancing around and the STS bursts in
2. I like all the Scion commercials, and being 16, they really hit their target well. The Hyundai Tucson ones are cool, and the New Avalon commercial is innovative too. All of Nissans ads for their trucks and SUVs are great too.
As for classics, of course Joe Isuzu ads, although they are hard to find.
