Which would seem like the best thing for the money and your favorite based on preference?

I'm voting for RSX. I really like the restyle they did this year. It looks more mature and inline with the Acura lineup. Kind of blander, but I like that. Something about it just seems mature. To me, Mustangs, Solaras, and Eclipses (even the new one) are all just too much of Chick cars, and the Mini is too juvenille. Accord is nice, but a bit large to be really fun.

I would get a Honda Accord Coupe EX V-6 6-Speed Manual.

2 Used cars:
a Gen2 Mazda Miata and a Gen3 Mazda RX-7. I'll probably have a little left over to get them detailed and insured.
Now if I'm limited to the cars on the list, Then I would go for the Eclipse. A 1999 Mitsubishi Eclipse GSX Turbo AWD, please. The GSX Maxes at about 210hp with 4WD. Plus it uses the 4G63 engine, which is the same general engine as the evo, but without all the expensive mods and the more sophisticated suspension system. You can pick up a 1999 model for about $10k-$12k, and spend much of your remaining change making engine performance (from the evo), suspension, and rigidity upgrades (no ricing biody kits for me thank you); plus have enough left over to make Those necessary powertrain repairs that will occur due to all the flogging it will get (can we say new turbos).

I go for Mustang for many reasons: legend, styling, engines and so on. Styling goes first.

Something actually fun to drive and appreciates instead of depreciates. That could be many collector cars.
A sure fire choice would be the giant killer Trans Am conquering Alfa GTV

For that kind of money - I would have just enough money to get myself a used S15 200SX, which is arguably one of the best coupes ever.
