I saw it as something political from the start, and didn't want it to get ugly. Guess I jumped the gun a bit and was wrong. Sorry.
bot

In my opinion, both the G35 and the 350Z are sports coupes, and not true types of sports car

Some of you guys missing the point of this thread, G35 coupe = 350Z = sports car with luxury, it's that simple.

G35 is considered a Touring Coupe while the 350Z is meant to be a sports car. Touring Coupe is meant to be comfortable, flashy, and fun while sports cars are just meant to be fun. Unfortunately, in the attempt to make carsvisually appealing, people are losing sight of what a sports car really is. The Elise is a true sports car, so is the Solstice. both are stipped down, not very flashy (most of their "flash" serves a purpose to make the car drive better).
But the G35 is too bloated and luxurious to be a sports car.
That said, IMO, it's sportier than a 350Z

I think the G35 is a great coupe if not one of the best but
The G35 coupe is as much of a sports car as the Toyota Avalon(or Rio).
an example of a sports car would be a porsche, or a corvette...though lately they seem to be stumbling closer to supercar territory...the camaro, gto, and mustang are muscle cars...i dont look at them as sports cars either...they are heavier than sports cars, they can sometimes have more power than sports cars, they are have the more raw power, and they dont handle as well...but they go in a straight line hella fast...I look at cars such as the M5 has sports sedans, or super sedans,or whatever...I am not sure what i think of the M3, i guess it could be a sports car, but on the other hand it also has the other variants of 3 series, so I would put it in a similar category with the g35 i guess, as a luxury touring car with some balls...though i should really mention Bimmers becaue they are really in a league all their own...so yea...i view the vette as a sports car, I view the 911 as a sports car, I dont view the g35 or 350z as a sports car...

If they have two doors (although the RX-8 bends the rule a little), are created with a dedicated sporting intent, I would consider them a sports car. Then you have sub-categories such as the muscle car, sport sedans, Grand Tourers and the like.

A friend of mine has a 350Z and I got to ride in it.
the car is fast as hell and the suspesion is very stiff. This is definitely a sports car. I would imagine the G35 to be little softer. A problem with the 350Z is that the doors are kinda fat and you have to be very careful when close to a curb coz the doors make the vision bad.
The G35 is a sports coupe IMO. The talk of luxury is kinda funny when the Porche offers the same things like heated seats, leather and navigation. Yet, it doesn't mean it isn't a luxury coup as well. I drove two of them and the suspension is way more sporty then luxury.
