I'd say Ford
Ford should have brought this car to the US

I was really dissapointed when Holden made the new Commodore, I really liked the previous version. Being dissapointed in that I voted for the Falcon. This is the only Ford that I like and I also wish the Falcon was sold here.

There was a lot of fuss made about bring the Falcon to the states. WHEELS magazine took it over there to get people to see the car. But it seams that this Falcon can not be turned into left-hand-drive and Ford Aus is flat out producing them to meet demand. Pitty, mabey in 2007/8 when the next fully-new model comes down it could be built in the States to replace the Crown (thats if Ford US wakes up)
And the Bommodore (sorry Commodore), well its a huge sucess. Its Aus best selling vehicle, they send the Monaro/GTO to the US already, they send them over to Saudia wherever badged as Luminas. My vote rests on the Falcon, of corse!

Holden Commodore gets my vote. Looks agressive, has a better interior (IMO) and is overall a better performer. The XR series' performance is a real downer..I mean the SS is even faster than the FRV GT! Howz that!
Anyhoot, the Commodore (and it's variants) are exported to all continents expect Antarctica with is an awesome achievement.

The Holdens may be faster but the Fords ride better, drive better, handle better, are better quailty, have better engines (except performance) and are the more polished. Holdens new Alloytech has been recieved OK, but there has been heaps of bad reviews about it. The Alloytech 190 is a good engine/transmition combo tho. IMO the Ford looks cleaner and more modern. The VZ looks out of place with its swoopy doors and sharp front and rear.

Can't go past the Falcon XR6 Turbo for sheer driveability and bang for buck!

Quote, originally posted by Top Secret »

I mean the SS is even faster than the FRV GT! It'd be good if GM could develop a new line of modern, efficient V8s with DOHCs, 4 valves per cylinder and variable valve timing, and pass them on to Holden. I can't believe they're still using push rods!

I like the Commodore more for its sharper, crisper exterior lines. The Falcon just looks bland in the lower levels, though the more expensive trims look great.

Just look at the GEN IV, especially the Z06 version.

The reason that Ford is slightly slower is because it weighs more. An example of this can be made between the FPV GT and the Clubsport.
-The Clubsport has 285 kilowatts of power and the FPV has 290 kilowatts.
-Clubsport has 510 Nm of torque FPV has 520 Nm of Torque
-Clubsport is 1696kgs and the FPV is 1825kgs.
-The Clubsport's base price is AU $61,100 and the FPV's is AU $59,850
-Clubsport's 0-100 kph is 5.7 secs and FPV's is 6.0 secs.
-Holden uses pushrod all-alloy 5.7 litre V8 and Ford uses 5.4 litre DOHC V8 originally from the F-series.
I would still take the FPV even if it is a little fatter. You have to see these cars in the metal to really compare them, so I can honestly say that the FPV looks like it eats HSV's for Breakfast! Great looking car in every sense of the word. The HSV looks bloated and ugly, unresolved square and angular shapes in the front and back don't fit well with the round body. It just looks out of place, if you know what I mean.
Ford
Holden

It hardly looks bloated and ugly, I'd say the GT is that.
And explain how the Clubsport has a 'rounded' body, I'd say that for VX Commodores but the VY/VZ's are more angular.

I would not expect you to understand but if you take a look at the roofline, windows and doors you will understand. When I say body I am refering to the sides and top of the car. Take a look at the entire side of the car, forget about the headlight/taillights and bumpers etc. The VZ commodore has exactly the same round and 'bubbley' roofline, doors, and windows as the VT but the VT had round headlights bumper etc making that design uniform and symmetrical. The recent VY and VZ cars have square and very angular bumpers, mouldings, grilles, headlights, taillights, hoods and trunks. These new front and rear ends do not look resolved to me when they are put on the exsisting round body. The Ford has got a uniform and attractive design to it, the new Commodores do not.

Modified by AXLE at 3:14 AM 1/4/2005

And why are the photos of the Holden tilted to the sides so much? And how about a proper 3/4 view? Trust me, if you were to take a proper look at it in real life it would look wrong. The VTs looked good though!
