Hi there, new to this forum.
Which is the nicest, better car in your opinion.......New boxster or Mercedes SLK. When it comes to looks & performance. I've seen a few slk's around town here and i must admit it does look better than the older version but for me it still feels like a "chick" car. I'm in the market for one but my heart and mind is telling me to go for the new boxster even though they haven't changed it that much and i haven't seen one in person yet i've heard the overall new look of the car looks more muscular and better than the outgoing model.
Just pics of it. Have any of you seen the new boxster in person?? I've seen the slk in person but parked not on the road and in motion.
What do you guys think? And thanks

The boxter just looks like a warmed over oversion of the previous one. unless you're a fan, most people won't know the difference.
For distinctive styling, Go with the SLK. For overall performance go with the boxster.

i've always loved the boxster and it's looks, it looks more exclusive to me anyway. Especially in black.
Do you think the slk has imageproblems even now with the more sports car looks?

It's the car that you are buying for your self. If you are going to spend upwards of $40,000 on a car, buy something you like and that you will enjoy. Don't be shallow, and screw anyone else's perception of what "image" is supposed to be. It's your car, you like it, you're making the payments on it, and you get to drive it. If anyone has a negative opinion about that, invite them to start making some of your payments or kiss your ass.

While both give you exclusivity (in a way) and higher status, I'd take the Porsche. It seems more "exotic" to say you drive a Porsche than a Mercedes, even though this sounds outrageous.

ha, i guess i'm biased. the mercedes offers performance that can almost (maybe not quite) match the porsche's, plus a nicer, more legible interior and eons more practicality, with the folding roof.

I agree with knihc2008....the SLk has more practicality...and almost same performance as the Boxter...yet it is cheaper...if it were up to me...i'd just take the SLK with the sports package...not sure if it's out yet...but that would be my choice
He is tallking about the new Boxster, which is essentially just a facelift, but yes, it is 'newer' than the SLK when talking about release dates.
I would probably go for the Boxster - you can't settle for nothing but the best.

I've said this for every buying opinion thread, but I'll say it again. It's going to be your car to be stuck with, so I wouldn't take much, if any, advice into consideration, drive both of them, look at whatever quality reports there are right now, and read owner reviews. But if you want my pick, its the Boxster because I'm a Porsche guy. The SLK is probably the better choice overall though, the interiors and performance are pretty much the same (if we're talking Boxster S), but the SLK has a folding hardtop and is a bit cheaper. All in all you should pick, but the SLK sounds pretty good.
