This has been bugging me for a whole day now:
While watching TV today, I saw a G6 commercial, and it claimed the G6 has the highest performance in its class. **Disclaimer** I was doing a bunch of other things, in addition to hearing that commercial
Unless I am missing something, 3.5L 200hp is highest in class?
???

I believe its most standard HP for a midsize car...Im sure any 5 speed 4cyl midsize car could outrun it or keep up with it.

Yeah, they were comparing it to 4-cylinders. Even though I'm a GM kinda guy, I'd rather take an Altima or MAZDA6 for my performance needs.

Thanks for clearing it up for me. Pontiac is comparing its six cyclinder car to four cyclinder cars
Is this the car Oprah gave away to her audience but they couldn't take home until each paid taxes, registration fee, etc. on their so called "free" car?

I had been waiting to buy a G6... then after they came out and I found out how heavy they are and that no manual was available with the 3.5L I went and purchased a manual transmission Mazda6 S with the 3.0L V6. I love that car.
By the way, my cheaper Mazda6 has 220 HP from a smaller engine and is much more fun to drive.

While the G6 is a huge improvement over the overstyled Grand AM I am dissapointed at the final result. I just hope that Pontiac continually improves this car like they did to the CTS when it first came out. Cadillac has made significant improvements to it every year and as a result, sales have increased every year. We can only hope... for Pontiac's sake. But for now, I will stick with my Mazda6.

While I like Pontiac alot, the G6 is a disappointment, First off, when I saw one in the flesh, I thought it was a Solara. The front looks somewhat okay, but the rear ugh. The taillights are awful looking and the side profile is bland. Lets not even talk the interior. It's got the same steering wheel as every other GM car. Sadly, I know people will buy these. I have seen two around and both are kinda ugly. Sorry, Pontiac. I think you screwed up.

funny how the mnid works. I saw one a couple of days ago and the first thing that came to mind was Accord... Only bigger, and not as detailed. Oh well.

Yeah, when I see the convert I think of the Solara and when I see the coupe I see the Accord.

When I saw a G6 from the rear the other day, I thought it was a Scion tC.
Anyway, in one of the latest Consumer Reports car comparisons, the Pontiac G6 finished last behind the 4-cyl. Camry, 4-cyl. Altima, and V6 Galant. Kinda sad in a way that it's worse than 2 4-cyl. cars that are about 3 years old, and a 1 year old family sedan.

I sat in one at the LA car show and the back felt a lot more cramped than my 04 Altima, even though it has a two-inch longer wheelbase. My head was brushig up against the roof too, and I'm only 6-foot. Looks narrow too. I really wanted to like this car, but it seems like it's just ok, decent, but nothing overly compelling.

i sat in one at the auto show over the weekend and i was impressed. even though alot of the reviews are criticizing its interior quality, i don't know how they got that impression. the dash is covered with nice, soft plastic, and the only cheap bits were the center console area; the plastic there wasn't grained all that nicely. but overall it's a nice interior. i was even more impressed with the ford five hundred too on a slightly related note; it's interior was even better than the G6's. the same goes for the buick lacrosse, which has very impressive interior materials and panel fit.

It is after all supposed to be a sporty vehicle.
I do agree with you however, that it does somehow look narrower than the other Epsilon vehicles.

Perhaps you just noticed it today, but it's been going for a little while now. The coupe went on sale at the end of July. And there wasn't an '05, so this is old news...
