View Full Version : Saab 9-1 Hatchback

10-05-2005, 09:19 AM
G.M have deicided to plough some money, finally, into Saab. A new hatchback to compete with the 1-series, A3, Golf etc. has been commisioned.
Your task is to design this new vehicle. Consider it an oppurtunity to totally re-design Saab's design lanuage.
Contest will close on Wednesday the 19th of October.
Good luck.
P.S. Sorry for the long delay but Plumcrazy never back to me on the subject of a new contest.

This is my pic of the brand spanking new Saab 9-1 GT. I have tried to keep a few key Saab elements, but move the styling direction dramatically forward to keep up with Saab's contemporaries. Its probably a little bit too small to be a proper competitor for the likes of the 1 Series and A3,but oh well! It can be Saab's newest baby anyway!!!

Saab 9-1. Explore 1t.
Saab introduces the new Saab 9-1, the first compact Saab with the new Saab styling, which combines the design of older Saabs (e.g. the new grille) and modern swedish styling with some details coming from Saab aviation (the door handles, the rear view mirror, the wheel design....) The 9-1 is powered by an 1.8i 90 kW (122 HP), 2.0t 129 kW (175 HP), 2.8 Turbo V6 184 kW (250 HP), 1.9TiD 88 kW (120 HP) or an 1.9TiD 110 kW (150PS) engine.

Hope you like it...
I have to say that I designed the car like if it is a production car which will be on selling soon, it hasn't to be a concept car. Theres a few perspective mistakes, but a good idea. Nice style direction.
To everyone else, sorry i havent been replying. Theres heaps of great drawings out there...everyones done an awesome job of this comp. Its great to see how everyone has interpreted the design direction of future Saabs...god knows they need a new direction!
By the way, PlumCrazy, Knihc and 1Pablo, your drawings are particularly awesome...great skills and renderings. And an awesome blending of old school Saab with a refreshing new direction. By the way SV, your drawing is pretty awesome too. I personally don't really like the "Dame Edna" style lights, but i can see your inspiration (i was originally gonna do something similar, before deciding to go completely different). Again, you have captured Saab essence perfectly, and created a bold new design language for the marque. Great work everyone!!!
