Known for groundbreaking technology and spirited performance, Japan has produced some of the most innovative, inspiring, and beautiful performance cars in history. Choose your favorite (examples include the Toyota Supra, 2000GT, Mitsubishi 3000GT, Nissan Z, Datsun 510, Mazda RX-7, Honda/Acura NSX, Skyline GT-R, etc etc etc... the possibilities are endless) and redesign it for the more demanding needs of the modern global consumer. Performance is paramount, but distinctive design is essential to the success of any sports car these days, so be careful to maintain the pedigree while bringing it just far enough into the present/future to be a true global supercar contender in its own merit. Must be an existing brand and model, Japanese, the rest I'll leave to the imagination..........
Datsun 510

Mazda RX-7

Toyota Supra

Nissan Skyline

Contest will close on Sunday the 7th of August.
Good Luck!

Not me this time. Or rather not me from here on for quite some time. It's been a pleasure to enter in these contests and I very much admire everyone who has entered I'll try to be back at these contests soon.
There is however a very slight (and read VERY slight) possibility that I can do this on the plane or something but I doubt it.

BTW Nice idea, wish I could enter.

The mirage is a lancer's international name.

anonms
08-01-2005, 10:09 AM
I doubt that. I think Lancer is used globally, not Mirage.
Are you thinking of the Virage?

1pablo
08-02-2005, 04:26 AM
The US uses the mirage nameplate wayback, they change it to lancer. I believe the year was 2003. It was in the US, not international. (my fault)

2001-2002 was when they changed the name over

Well... I couldn't decide which of my sketches to use for a contest entry, so in the end I decided to try something a little more radical.
I give you the next generation of the Nissan GT-R. I envisioned a kind of "racecar for the street" look, hence the numerous gaping vents and high rear wing. I took the "vanishing" A-pillar from my Datsun 510 concept and applied it here; the glass continues forward from the greenhouse, framing the hood before becoming the headlights. The massive grille was partly inspired by the GT-R concept, but substantially enlarged to give the front more presence.

sorry, domino, but probably my least favorite of your designs. it just looks a little too much, the front a little too semi truck, the wing a little too.. weird. love the side rocker panels. but it doesn't have too much skyline in it.
