You have been chosen to create a new model lineup for the Israelian manufacturer Autocars co. ltd. of Haifa.
The lineup should consist of a small(ish) Sportscar (coupe/convertible) and a Truck/SUV (you have to do both an SUV and a Sportscar, just to make the voting a little more interesting ).
Your cars have to be affordable, yet reliable and of high build quality (hmm.. is there such a thing?).
Links about Autocars :
http://www.austin-rover.co.uk/...f.htm (Autocars in general)
http://www.carinfocus.com/mamar4.htm (Pics of the Sabra/Reliant Sabre)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Susita
http://forums.autoweek.com/thr...art=0 (thread at Autoweek forums)
Some inspiration....
The Sussita (Van/Pickup/Estate thing, maybe a new SUV based on this one?):

The Sabra Sport (Sports car):

Good luck , hopefully we'll see some more entries this time (allthough people are still on vacation etc.)

Contest ends on Sunday the 17th

i have an idea: what about dont have the defined amount of entries from one member, but everybody comes up with several ideas and make the contest more open, developing forms, etc ... it would be more interesting and intensive drawing/sketching imo ... so?

I haven't got anything against you doing both or several designs, it's just that the voting might turn into a mess .
We were playing around with the idea of having separate votings for the SUVs and Sports cars (which would mean that you could do both), but I don't think there will be enough entries :(.
Meh... we'll see what happens. I'm off to bed now, 2am here =)

Autocars. Co. Ltd is proud to announce the release of their first car in 24 years, the Sussita crossover. Developed jointly with Ford Europe, the all-new Sussita promises to deliver better handling and refinement than any car in its class.
The Sussita is mostly a bespoke vehicle; however, the rear suspension and some other minor components are based on those in the critically acclaimed Ford Fiesta. With its wheels spread to the corners, the Sussita promises best-in-class interior space. A very stiff structure and light weight have been achieved thanks to the majority of the Sussita being made of high-strength steel and aluminum. With its increased ground clearance and standard all-wheel drive, the Sussita is a crossover through-and-through.
Powering the Sussita are a variety of engines: 1.25 and 1.4 litre engines supplied by Ford, and a bespoke 1.6-litre, four cylinder engine, as well as a 1.4-litre Ford turbodiesel. A 3.0 V6 model will also be available.

New Sabra Revives Old Nameplate
12 July 2005 - Haifa, Israel - Along with the Sussita, Autocars Co. Ltd's return also includes the Sabra roadster. Reviving the old nameplate, the Sabra is, like the Sussita, a bespoke vehicle.
Based on a rear-wheel drive platform, the Sabra is powered by either a 2.0-litre, 148bhp Ford four-cylinder engine or a 3.0-litre V6 also sourced from Ford. With a McPherson strut front suspension and five-link rear, the Sabra promises excellent handling and a superb driving experience. The chassis is made of high strength steel and the suspension and hood are aluminum, ensuring a stiff structure and light weight.
Autocars made an emphasis on driver comfort and high quality; as a result, the seats are extremely comfortable and the dashboard is soft to the touch.
By the way, I was inspired by or2001 for the Sabra's windshield reflections, they looked awesome

they both look bloody awesome; you seem to have finally gotten rid of that flat-side problem i've always pointed out in your drawings. the shading is excellent as usual.
the only qualm i might have is that the two cars dont' seem to have anything in common, designwise. they seem to be from two different companies. and the sussita is sort of.. bland.
but brilliant drawings nonetheless :D

DamagedProphet: thanks, yeah, i have a problem with tall windshields, but i try to make my cars realistic instead of sketchy. knihc2008: thanks for the compliments; i tried to make the designs different because when i go for a "family look" they end up looking the same, but i guess in this case i made it too different the main similarites are the big grille and circular foglights. and i don't have a specific technique, suprfresa, sorry. i usually use real pictures to get perspective and shading down though.
i can't wait to see more entries!

SV
07-09-2005, 08:12 PM
i usually just start sketching, the last time i used perspective lines the drawing didn't end up too good. and if you're asking what i color them with, i use prismacolors.
and you won't make a fool of yourself, you're one of the better sketchers here

HAIFA, Israel -- Introducing the renaissance of Israel's automotive industry, from Autocars, Ltd.
Autocars' reintroduction begins with a practical model--the new Sussita--a compact, four-person sport-utility vehicle based on the platform of the previous-generation BMW 3-Series (E46). This proven platform affords beautiful driving manners: on-road or off. Powertrains reflect Autocars' partnership with German automaker BMW, and include a 2.5L, 24-valve DOHC I6 putting out 184hp, and a 3.0L, 24-valve DOHC I6 making 225hp.

Second comes Autocars, Ltd.'s flagship model, the rebirth of the venerable Sabra sports car. Based on the BMW Z4, the Sabra II is obviously an excellent performer, sharing the BMW's 2.5L and 3.0L motors and a race-tuned, adjustable suspension. Outside, the Sabra II harks back to its spiritual predecessor--the original Sabra--in its seductive shape. The car shares the same crouched stance, with bulging rear fenders, and the chrome bumper projections on Sabras of old have been incorporated into the new version as a strip of chrome that begins on each side of the front intake and wraps around the cabin.

i'm pleased to present my interpretation of the new Sussita and the new Sabra. they both take several cues from their forebears while sharing a very distinct, powerful and striking family look to bring the AutoCar into the new age.
Sussita sport utility crossover.

the Sussita was concieved originally as a two door sport utility. bringing the Sussita into the new age, it was clear the vehicle had to have sport utility capability but also share a two-door coupe-like look, hence the dramatic roofline. the front takes cues from the original Sussita, with round headlamps perched at the very top of the front end, and a prominent AutoCar grille. a parallel section starts at the round headlamps and runs to the back, like the original, and is only interrupted by a striking dip into the rear fender flare. the rear lamps create a fast edge, able to be seen from the front 3/4 view, like the original. the rear lamps are sharp and dynamic in shape, an AutoCar design point. the rear tailgate lifts into the roof, ala dodge magnum, for increased versatility.
Sabra sports car

the Sabra is a classical sports car for the new age. designed with the original Sabra in mind, the car exudes the race, from the powerful rear fenders to the sharp, leading front end. the sabra shares the same AutoCar grille, prominently round headlamps, sharp sides, and dynamic tail lamp design as its brother the Sussita. even the rear view mirrors share an AutoCar design element, working equally as well in both cases. the AutoCar design language works as well here in a historical sense as it does the Sussita. the powerful puncuating front end is inspired by the original's, as well as the powerful rear fenders. the car, like the original, will be available in softtop roadster and coupe variants, and is equally as stunning in both.

Very cool, knihc! The roadster is very aggressive, and it's got great curves. The face of the Sussita reminds me a bit of your Camaro concept from the Muscle car thread, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. All in all the Sussita has a cool, rugged look and I like how you integrated the trim line on the side from the original model.
Superfresa, I've already commented on yours in your gallery, but it just struck me how well you've carried a corporate face between the two models. Nice job!

Other than a perspective issue on the back of the Sabra, those are great sketches and great designs. Cheers.

I like how the front ends look like shocked faces (big eyes and big mouth) and how the rear ends look like butts (the line down the middle). Very creative.

Superfresa's SUV looks killer. Very very nice SUV man. Sorry to say the best sports roadster is Domino.
