Avant, nice job! As with you... this is one of my first attempts in color...
My idea was to create a Mini "Speedster," as a sportier alternative to the Mini Cooper S Convertible. The Speedster is a true two-seater, allowing for both a slight shortening of the wheel base and for the driving position to be moved slightly aft for weight distribution.
An aggressive new Mini face characterizes the Speedster. The grille has been enlarged, the fenders generously flared, and the traditional round headlights redesigned to counter what some have called the Mini's "effeminate" appearance. Moreover, the wheel wells have been enlarged to accomodate 18" lightweight alloy wheels, and the windscreen has been chopped to enchance the vintage roadster look. Wing mirrors, complete with turn signals, are mounted high on the A-pillar.
Power would be upped slightly, to about 180, to compete an an even footing with segment rivals. The John Cooper Works package would provide a greater boost in both horsepower and torque.

flyinmonkey - Pretty neat design!! It incorporates the Dodge design language well, and what's more, I can definitely see this in their lineup... they need a sweet little roadster like this. I only wish you'd shown us more... maybe a complete view?
Aidan - nice job! The coolest Maidstone yet. I love the wraparound effect of the windscreen and side glass, and the headlight design is nice. Still some perspective issues here, but I like the car!

well, my first foray into the colored world. i recently invested in some markers, and by recently, i mean a couple days ago. i'm not entirely happy with the design nor the coloring but what the heck.
Toyota MR
the new toyota MR represents new, powerful and expressive design at toyota. the most prominent line of the MR runs from the rear light, wrapping around the rear well and quickly slingshotting around, over and down to the front wheel, which, pronounced by enormous, near-flat rear flanks, to accentuate the rear-wheel weight and drive bias of the vehicle. a flush-setted side-mounted grille fluidly allows air into the engine chamber, which is mounted in a revolutionary horizontal position in relation to the rear drive axle, dramatically lowering the center of gravity, and allowing enough space up top for a first-in-class retractable hardtop. the front air dams are inspired by both the latest celica and toyota's F1 vehicles, with a simplistic, air-slicing hood flanked by two sharply designed headlamp clusters. the interior features shell-shape encapsulating seats, to hold the driver in better through corners, which it will be able to do well: the suspension, chassis, and revolutionary horizontal MR placement is engineered by Lotus (in return for toyota engines found in their Elises.)
enjoy!

knihc2008
04-06-2005, 12:41 PM
the markers i recently purchased were of the prismacolor variety; they run a bit too much for my taste and i prefer copic markers, of which i purchased for a class i took four years ago but have since lost. i find that i think i need to experiment more with marker control, but mainly i don't like how much they run and blot.
avant: i like your drawing a lot. has lots of style and edge. you should try making your side surfaces more rounded and variated.
domino: as usual, your sketching never ceases to amaze me, and so do your amazing wheels. i like the idea behind this but the widebody kit and half-size doors seem a bit too outlandish, especially for a practical british company like mini. the seats are a bit too spaced out too, i think. sexy rearview mirrors ;D
flyin: your work has promise. i'll save my comment until i see your full pics ;D
aidan: this is really cool! i love the wraparound glass as well, and the general shape looks sleek and smooth. perspective issues, though. but very good :)

I'm not doubting your skill level or credibility, Its just that it looks like a doctored version of the Miata. Maybe you should just post the sketch

this was my base photo. But my work isn't anything a chop, I was just looking at reflections on the real photo. Is it something wrong or against the rules? My design is unique and the picture looks good from what you say, and it isn't anything wrong to have a base photo. Otheriwse it wouldn't look so real. I always have a base photo but generally I don't want anyone to know which one was that.

Wow, Whipster, great job. Design wise it isn't the best I've seen, although It's not bad at all. The rendering is faultless, amazing. How did you do that interiour? Is it airbrushed or taken from another car? It's amazing...
____
Well, this leaves me well out of contest so I wont enter. I'll improve my skills and re enter soon, when I consider I have a chance.

Thanks for the compliments so far.
Yeah, interior is mainly airbrushed. (I'm using Corel Photo Paint, there is no airbrushing but I use another tool that works in a similar way). Same thing goes for body rendering.
