Show
Date posted: 12-06-2005
AUBURN HILLS Inside Line has learned that Volkswagen of America will hold the worldwide debut of a new California-designed concept vehicle at January's Los Angeles auto show.
"I can only say it's a 'vehicle,'" said VW spokesman Tony Fouladpour. "It doesn't necessarily have four wheels and it may go into production."
Without giving any more details, Fouladpour said the concept is not a motorcycle.
The new concept is a product of VW's advanced design studio in Simi Valley. The California concept will also be shown at the Detroit auto show.
"L.A. will be a bigger show for us than Detroit," Fouladpour said. "We get a bigger share of the voice mediawise in Los Angeles and besides, L.A. is such a VW city."
What this means to you: VW's teaser about its newest concept lends itself to all kinds of speculation. How about a three-wheeled Beetle with a big key in the back?

In other LA Auto Show news, going forward, LA Auto show will be moved to the permanent November show dates. The '07 show will be held in November '06 (which gives us two LA show next year )
Here is the full article which talks about the date change as well as other relevant topics such as theme: http://sev.prnewswire.com/auto....html

Quote »

Starting next November, the LA Auto Show will have its own time slot on the global auto show calendar without any conflict or overlap with the Detroit show or the holidays. Automobile manufacturers already have plans to take full advantage of the increased opportunities for promotion and publicity the new show dates provide.
Recognizing the significance of the new dates, the Organisation Internationale des Constructeurs d'Automobiles (OICA), the world automobile trade association, has designated the 2007 show with international status.

is it just me or are there more cars this year at the LA show...a few more added...including Suburban and Yukon XL
http://www.laautoshow.com/2006/debuts.aspx

Maybe except most of those debuts should not exactly be termed debuts since they've already been unveiled at other autoshows.
As for NA shows, NAIAS generally draws the most world premieres and Chicago geneally is the largest, as far as show space is concerned.

its autospies, but they usually have a pretty decent photo gallery, as it is the only decent thing that comes out of that website.
http://shows.autospies.com/gal...Id=34

This was a good move from every angle you look at. In some ways, I feel NAIAS is taking some of the hype form LA just because they're generally so close to each other, given detroit has been a significant auto show for years now. Bottom line, whether the November Auto Show in LA become larger or not, it will have its own floor and reconigition.

i think the 2007 LA Auto Show (the one in November 2006) is going to be very successful for them. The first one especially will get a lot of debuts i think because there will be so much hype surrounding the date change and theme change...it is a new chapter, and the media will cover it a lot
the la show will finally be as competitve as naias...i'm sure a lot of debuts set for detroit will be moved up
btw...knihc2008
what is that drawing in your sig? what car?

as it says on the sig, it's my speedcell concept for the newest automotive design contest.
anyway, i went to the show today. it's actually been moved to december 1-10 for this year, not november. and it was a pretty boring show this year.

LEXUS FAN!

the reason it's in december this year was because they said there was a conflict with some other event, but starting in 2007, it will be at it's normal november time
