View Full Version : 2005 Specialty Equipment Manufacturer Association Show

The SEMA Show is the premier automotive specialty products trade event in the world. It draws the industry's brightest minds and hottest products to one place, the Las Vegas Convention Center. As part of AAIW, the SEMA Show attracts more than 100,000 industry leaders from over 100 countries for unlimited profit opportunities in the automotive, truck and SUV, marine and RV markets. SEMA Show 2004 drew over 50,000 domestic and international buyers through two million square feet of exhibits. The displays are segmented into 11 sections, and a New Products Showcase features more than 1,100 newly introduced parts, tools and components. In addition, the SEMA show provides attendees with educational seminars, product demonstrations, special events, networking opportunities and more. Show dates: Nov. 1 - 4, 2005

Quote, originally posted by yanksrule26 »

Larger Pic

Ford will have an orange-toned, two-seat open air roadster to show off. From the concept sketch, its clear the Ford GTX1 roadster is Ford GT-based. Beyond that, theyre keeping their lips sealed until Tuesday at SEMA. Besides the lusty-looking GTX1, Ford will also be revealing new products from Ford Racing Performance Parts and more than a half a dozen SEMA project cars. One of those SEMA projects will be a Fusion customized by hip-hop celebrity DJ and TV car guru FunkMaster Flex. And since 5 Axis front man Troy Sumitomo professes to hate Kung Pao Chicken (hey, its an office staple over here that and the ol General Tsos Chicken), well spare the cover story and get right to the point.
Finished in resplendent Persimmon Pearl, the 5 Axis Scion xA is an open-air speedster racing simulator. Yep. Keeping in line with the mobile theme of the previous 5 Axis projects (the mobile DJ booth Scion xB widebody of 2003 and the mobile home theater Scion tC widebody of 2004), this years project lets driver and passenger keep experience the tightest twisties and the fastest straightaways even with the transmission selector in "PARK."
Once again, the transformation from average SEMA Show showstopper to 5 Axis jaw dropper is only the press of a button away. SEMA Show attendees will be among the first to see the front hood raise (front hinged) forward to reveal a screen to which a headrest mounted Casio XJ-560 video projector will beam the action from a Microsoft XBOX 360 video game system. Grab the pair of Madcatz wireless XBOX controllers from the custom headrest storage tray and your set to storm the ultra realistic Nurburgring track in XBOX 360s Forza racing simulation game. Not in the drivers seat and just kicking it with your friends at the local car show? No problem, you can go head to head with your buddy on the two 19 Samsung LCD monitors that rise from a secret horizontal storage position behind the headrests.
The 5 Axis crew once again went all out in detail and execution and you would be hard pressed to spot one flaw in the build. While the xA Speedster was still unfinished at the time we shot these images, the conversion was 95% complete. The conversion transformed what was a typical 5-door, 5-seater Scion xA into a sleek, 0-door, 2-seat dream car. House of Colors paint covers the 6-inch custom widebody flanks and +22 offset 19 Rays Engineering G-games 99B wheels fill the enlarged arches. The custom interior is anchored by Sparco Fighter front seats with Sparco cam-lock seat harnesses good enough for racing or gaming. The custom 5 Axis interior panels are also trimmed out with alcantera suede Sparco accessories, including the steering wheel.

Ford spent the past year racing with their Mustang in the Grand-Am Cup series and walked away with a GS Class Manufacturers Championship in the process. It turns out that wasnt only thing that they got from the series though; Ford Ford Racing Performance Parts is revealing three Mustang performance packs at the SEMA Show. For upgrading 2005-2006 Mustang GT coupes and convertibles, the FR1 Power Pack', FR2 Drag Pack, and FR3 Handling Pack are designed to add performance gains in both acceleration and handling and were engineered as part of Grand-Am Cup championship-winning Mustang FR500C race program.
Six Ford Fusion SEMA projects will also be revealed to highlight the new Ford Fusions tuner-friendly attitude. This wont be a stretch since the Ford Fusions design cues are based off of the Ford 427 Concept, which was first shown at the 2002 SEMA Show. As well, sporty characteristics are guaranteed of the Ford Fusion since its chassis is based on the same global Ford platform as the one that underpins the highly acclaimed Mazda6 sports sedan. The SEMA project Fusions were handed out to half a dozen aftermarket tuners and companies in California and Washington (and Canada). 3D Carbon, FocusSport, H&R Springs, Draxas, HPA Motorsports, and Street Scene Equipment are all expected to show off their visions of a custom Ford Fusion at the Ford display as well as at their own displays. Both FocusSport and Draxas with experience from turbocharging the Ford Focus - are boosting the 2.3L Duratec 4-cylinder engine of their Fusions with turbochargers. HPA Motorsports and H&R Springs both have 221-horsepower 3.0-liter Duratec V-6-powered Fusions and will be concentrating on aesthetic and suspension modifications. Designers from 3d Carbon and Street Scene Equipment are playing with a European high-performance sport sedan theme, concentrating on applying a road-hugging stance and keeping the clean lines of the original design. The Fusion sport sedan hit the showrooms earlier this month with a $17,795 MSRP base price.
After giving away a FunkMaster Flex-customized Ford Fusion during the course of the FunkMaster Flex Custom Car and Bike Show tour this summer, Flex and Ford are building another special Fusion together for the SEMA Show. The Flex Fusion will feature a custom body kit, interior, wheels, tires, exhaust and audio system and will be revealed at Fords SEMA show stand along with details about a new FMF online video that will appear on a special Fusion website.

For the first time in a while, thanks to the 2006 Honda Civic Si, Honda will once again be big news at the SEMA Show. In fact, in a Honda and manufacturer first, the Civic Si will be officially introduced at the SEMA Show instead of some suit and pant auto show in Detroit, Los Angeles, or Chicago. Hows that for a nod to the tuner market? And just as the Lancer Evo, Nissan 350Z, and most recently the Scion tC has ruled the project display floors of the SEMA Show in their debut years, so will the Civic Si. How, when the car isnt even in production yet you ask? Easy, pre-production models were dished out to almost a dozen choice tuners and aftermarket manufacturers during the past two months for a complete SEMA make-over.
Among the top of the list is Japanese tuning giant GReddy, who will be one of the first in the world to add boost to the Civic Sis already potent 197 hp, K20Z powerplant. Centered around a GReddy T51 turbine, the prototype system delivers over 60 extra horsepower! Best of all, like all GReddy turbo kits, the system will be sold as a complete bolt-on package. As shown, the SEMA debut prototype kit will be paired with a Prototype GReddy Type 31V Front Mount Intercooler Kit, a GReddy Type RS Blow-off valve, and a GReddy PRofec B-Spec 2 Boost Controller. The GReddy Civic Si will also be sporting Honda Factory Performances new 4-piece Aero Kit and a set of 18 Volk Racing GT-V wheels. If youre attending the show, youll find this boosted baby sitting in the massive Honda (which is also the official Manufacturer of Show for 2005) display. Look for more details to be released at the SEMA Show. You may now continue salivating.
While the overall show focus at the SEMA Show will be canted towards the new Civic Si, GReddy will also be showing off a new Mitsubishi Eclipse turbo kit as part of a complete Mitsubishi Eclipse project car that will be displayed in the GReddy booth. The T67-based prototype GReddy turbo kit is mated with prototype GReddy front mount intercooler, a custom SUS manifold and a Type-T exterior wastegate. Also expect to find a prototype Tein coilover suspension and prototype GReddy front and rear strut bars under the fenders and hood of the GReddy Eclipse. If the concept sketches are any indication, this will be one of the nicer Eclipse Projects at the SEMA Show. Check back with us next week during our daily SEMA Show coverage to get all the details on the GReddy project and the other million or so SEMA cars that well encounter at the Las Vegas Convention Center.

I am not sure if anyone feels this way but I am not liking most of theses "riced" cars (at this year's SEMA). I know most of these are built by professionals but I feel some of my friends' modded cars look more tasteful than these.
Please don't take any offense in what I said above but I just don't feel them. I'd much rather take the "stock" version of these cars, in some ways, I feel they are too "riced".

the streetraider looks like the first sport trac concept (the white one) with more pronounced fenders. looks nice tho.

I love that StreetRaider concept... seems like Mitsu really is leaving that stupid split grill behind.
Like Knicks said some are a bit too much, kind of tacky. Most of the Cobalts and Fusions shown seem too ricey for me... The 3D Fusion looks clean tho.

There VWs are awesome

11-03-2005, 05:18 AM
To my eyes, the Passat would look much better in a dark colour.
The Jetta's too busy. Less is more, so de-clutter it, starting with the stripes. (I don't like the standard Jetta shape much anyway, so a riced-up version's probably behind the 8-ball a bit...)
