It looks like it's going to be a powerful show season with many important and awesome debuts, both concept and production! I hope many or most on the list is accurate. Maybe the Lincoln debuts could be, if not the Avaitor, the two new sedans based on the stretched AWD 500/Montego platform with the rumored V8s!

the best thing about this is, all of these models that get unveiled come to NY in addition to NY unveiled models and models that are already on sale and stuff.

The new Nissan Sentra is confirmed for NAIAS, the Altima is confirmed for NYIAS, and I haven't heard exactly where the Maxima facelift will debut... I think Chicago for some reason.
Infiniti officials have said there will be something at NAIAS but I think it might be the GTR concept while the CX will be at NYIAS.... dunno for sure though
The Toyota Yaris 3dr is debuting at SEMA but I think the Yaris 4dr(Belta?) will be at NAIAS.
Also, I would expect Suzuki to show either the New Verona(or replacement) or new theta based XL7(or replacement).

But at January's Detroit show, Lexus will unveil a concept teaser pointing to a sleek and different new IS coupe/cabrio, sources say.
A successor to the U.S.-designed LF-C concept displayed at the 2004 New York Auto Show, the Detroit 2006 IS concept is much closer to production, it's said, and points to what will be appearing in U.S. showrooms in August 2007.
Complete with power-operated top, the Detroit car reportedly packs a 5.0-liter V8 with 450-hp output. This will be a bored-out version of the 4.6-liter V8 from the new Lexus LS 460 premier sedan, which will have its official production launch at Detroit. Lexus is also tipped to be readying an IS 500 sedan to target the likes of the Mercedes C55 AMG and BMW M3.
What this means to you: A cool new Lexus IS coupe/cabrio sounds perfect for the United States, and a lusty 5.0-liter V8 sweetens the pot still further.

source: edmunds

So Aviator is a one-generation nameplate for Lincoln? Or, are they thinking there's room for something named Aviator between the MKX and the Navigator? (Can you say "a longer 3-row CUV based on the XC90"?)
Personally, I thought Aviator (works with Navigator pretty well) was a good model name and the first generation wasn't such a horrible product that they couldn't use it again... (not like Citation, Aztek or Cimarron for GM).
Good list there.

the other ford concept (small truck), could this be the truck shown in thailand last month? maybe that is the next ranger....(about frickin time).
in my opinion, ford only having 2 concepts isnt that big. the past few years they have had more than 2 concepts and they were interesting. this time we only get 2 concepts...sucks.

I would agree with you there 100%. The outgoing model wasn't that great (not horrible either) but at least the name had people think about Lincoln in some positive ways (and relations to the Navigator (name), which had been a sucessful product).

Yeah,... not really insider information but, with the Hamptons project about to yield some fruit for Ford, and having shifted to the Volvo platform (from the Mazda6-based CD3XX platform), it would seem that there's a ready-made opportunity for another vehicle between the MKX and Navigator (think Hyundai's strategy with Santa Fe and whatever the bigger CUV is called). It would make sense and, for once, leave Lincoln in a possible position of strength.

This Autoshow is turning out to be a snooze. Many of the cars on that list we've already seen officially. Others are just new versions of things that are already out there. Where are next year's most significant production vehicles such as the Chevy Silverado, Chrysler Sebring, and Saturn Aura?

Some fun statistics from NAIAS06:
Average of 82.000 attendees a day, ~773.000 overall attended
Show pumped $500M into the economy, $100M into Detroit
1.732 daily workers (thats 200 janitors, 135 porters who clean an average of 700 cars in the show)
1000 scoops of Baskin Robbins ice cream cones sold (@ $2.25 each, Vanilla most popular flavor), 100 Cappuccino Blasts @ $4.50 each, 1.500 Dippin' Dots @ $4 for a small serving, 4.000 Gyros @ $6 each, & ~10.000 Little Ceasars pizzas @ $13.50 each pie, nearly $168.000 spent on food the whole show weekend, thats 24 million calories consumed (or what people consuming 2.500 daily calories would consume in 26 yrs). These statistics do not include hotdogs, bottles water, fudge, nachos, sandwiches & other show snacks such as popcorn, candy, etc
Daily average of 6 industrial-strength family-size toilet paper rolls in all pairs of restrooms, ~7.000 rolls were used the whole show weekend, or what an average household using 73 rolls a year would use in almost 98yrs
~120 shoeshines a day at a handful of stands
These numbers wouldve been bigger if it werent for the nasty weather, but were they really expecting Mary Sunshine weather in Detroit @ January?
Detroit News

Good for the city of Detroit. It needs more revnue every way possible, and with the Superbowl XL coming up in two weeks, more opportunities should arise.
I have several good friends currently working in Detroit and/or surrounding areas, they have all thought about leaving the area - who can blame them, many others have already or are doing the same thing. And seems like a common theme around the Great Lakes, specifically in Western NY, of the cities of Buffalo, Rochester, and Syracuse (I'm guilty ). Perhaps it's the weather, as they say, the lake-effect snow is gonna get you Just kidding, not the most important factor but certainly up there something everyone ponders about. Outlook is not too great overall.
Alright let me stop, as I said, good for Detroit. NAIAS and Super Bowl should provide a good chunk of change to revitalize the city.
