Well, since i did not see topic for the tokyo show, i figure i'd go and start one up. I do not know much about it excpet the following (and of course i amde some speculations as well):
Production
Lexus LS
Lexus SC (update)
Lexus GS350 (Japanese debut)
Honda Civic coupe Si (?)
Nissan Sentra (?)
Mazda 6 (update)

Concepts
Nissan Skyline GTR
Honda/ Acura NSX replacement (?)

Guys, post what you think is going to debut at this show.

Well surely the Production Toyota Rav4 replacement will be debuts, coz its supposed to go on sale around the world end of this year. Also the replacement Toyota Platz (Echo sedan)... i read in my Wheels magazine that its definetily goin to happen. Im also guess the Echo/Vitz/Yaris 3door Hatch version unless theyre not gonna continue with it.

the rav4 goes on sale in q1 2006 (february). the honda civic si is to debut at SEMA. I think the santa fe debuts here also and maybe the elantra and the getz and the optima.

I would also speculate that the new Camry and the new ES will also be introduced, I don't think we'll see the LS until later in the auto show season.
My question is where and when do they announce what will be introduced??

I can see the RAV4 being inrtroduced there, but the camry i'm a bit hesitant about. Since the camry's a bestseller in the States and was probably largely influnced by American R&D input, i bet we'll see it Detroit. This will coincide with its Feb. rollout, kind of like how the Avalon was intrroduced last year in either Feb. or March. The ES is also questionable because i would imagine that intro being in LA since 1.) there's huge market for luxury cars, and 2.) Lexus will introduce the (supposedly) revolutionary LS, Lexus' flagship, to it's home audience. Usually Es's are introduced at least a month or two prior to the Camry. Also from what I read in the Edmunds townhall forum, one of the LS' engineers ( i think his name was either Kelvin or Kevin or Ken, which seemed pretty reputable) mentioned a boatload of info with regards to the LS's spec and what show it'll be introduced at. Also it should be mentioned that the current LS was introduced in Detroit, it was becasue 1.) America is Lexus' dominant market, and 2.) there was no Tokyo show in the Oct. prior to that particular 2001 Detroit show.

This years Tokyo show doesn't seem to have that much debuts....
Honda Civic SI- SEMA
Nissan Sentra- isn't a JDM models so thats a no
Kia Optima- Frankfurt 2005
Hyundai Santa Fe- Frankfurt (not official though)
Hyundai Elantra- probably not this year...
and didn't the updated Mazda6 already debut?

I've heard 'Production' for the new NSX

And isnt it about time for a 'Production' showing of the Toyota/Lexus Supercar?.. All those Spy Shots and Spy Videos are getting pretty old... I know it will only have been around a year since the LF-A was shown.. But the car seems to be very close to introduction.

i'm not sure about that becasue it seems that once toyota will have more frequent podium finishes in F1 will it then see production. There was talk that it's earliest possible release is 2007 but realistically, 2008 or 2009. I think, ideally, Geneva would be the best place to release it as to try and stake its claim deeper in Europe. Tokyo is a possibility, but i don't think it's going to be this oct., but the next tokyo show. I would think that a debut in detroit is a distant third possibility, but i could be wrong

Of course i meant the new version mate! The MK2 Vitz.On an another threat someone even said that the NEW Vitz is the number one selling super-mini in Japan.

07-22-2005, 04:19 PM
Yeah i know the Mk2 Vitz is already on sale in Japan, it has been since like January but thats only the 5door Hatch... Im sayin that the Sedan and 3door Hatch versions on the Vitz should be revealed at the motor show.
Also that i know that a sedan is gonna be produced because i read in a magazine which stated that one of their sources had confirmed that. BUT the 3door i havent heard anythin about... so i dont know whats happenin wit that

It looked like a meaner version of a Lotus 340R. I think I'd still preffer the hayabusa though. Less money than a corolla and I can watch most super cars in my rear-view mirror (but if I was going that fast, the dark stain on the road would most likely be emanating from my pants).

Same; I did not think I would be excited but Lexus promises a product that will have the same impact as the original did in 1989. I hope it lives up to the promise (the GS was a little disappointing but the IS shows lexus is on good form).

KebabGud
10-11-2005, 02:05 PM
a new LS is not something that is going to have a huge impact today... just look at the Merc S-class.. a VW with rings in the grill had more PR at that time then the benchmark of the Luxury sedan class..
the only thing that can have a huge impact is a Production LF-A ..
a car that starts a HUGE HP war in japan..
KebabGud
10-15-2005, 10:35 AM
there has been a lot of talk about that .. and one thing that the fans hate but just might be is that the new S2000 might be FWD or AWD .. not RWD..

Petrol Head
10-15-2005, 11:40 AM
I do not think they would ever make the s2000 front wheel drive. They may well use the super handling all wheel drive system, but even then I think this is doubtful. Alot of people in Honda are driving enthusiasts and, unless the successor is in a new vain (i.e. turns into some sort of tourer over a sports car), then the car will almost certainly remain RWD.

KebabGud

a inteview with a honda dude a year ago made it clear that the S2000 is hondas last RWD car..
succsesor to the NSX is almost confirmd 4wd..
and there has been a rumor of a FWD S2000 (a mix for the S2000 and Integra)
