The Cayman is expected to make it's world debut at Frankfurt, and also the concept version of the Panamera.
BMW will probably show either a concept, or final version of it's RFK, along with the M6 Cabrio and M5 Touring.

I'll throw my $0.02 in and say the TT is attractive but really long in the tooth. The interior was a great design, and the exterior is quite unique and minimalistic (except for that wing that was necessary to avoid accidents). But a replacement is needed, STAT! And they should look for the Nuvolari concept and, moreso, the RSR(?) for inspiration beacuse while it was attractive and influential for its time, it's time for a change.
Also, learn from the RS4 and give this and all fture Audi cars a rear-wheel bias Quattro.
Will the S63 and S600 also beintroduced, or is MB going to do the usual delay in order to keep the S interesting?

Well in that case, they need a reengineering to stuff the transfer box further behind the engine and let the engine move a bit more towards teh backline. I have to say this "flexible" component scheme better give Audi some better dynamics and weight distribution soon.. horsepower war + quattro can't go on forever.

Quote, originally posted by carspynut »

I'll throw my $0.02 in and say the TT is attractive but really long in the tooth.
Lamborghini has released pictures of a new concept car revisiting the Espada (1968-78): a front-engined 2+2 GT which could compete against the likes of the Aston DB9 and Maserati 5000GT. It could be fitted with either the Gallardo's 5.0-litre V10 or the Murcielago's 6.2 V12, and could go into production late 2007: it is said to be entirely production-feasible, and not too far off getting the go-ahead as Audi seeks to widen the Lamborghini product range and achieve Ferrari-rivalling sales volumes.
Built on a version of the next-generation VW Group 'D4' platform - to be used for the next-generation Audi A8, Volkswagen Phaeton and related models, Bentley Arnage and even a rumoured 'entry-level' Bugatti (less powerful than the Veyron) - the new Espada will have a practical hatchback-type boot and could also have RX-8-style 'suicide' doors for easier access to the rear seats. However, although it is referred to internally as the 'Espada', it is likely to take a new name if - when - it goes into production. Sources suggest 'Lagartijo", after a famous matador.
This concept car could make its debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show next month, though Lamborghini may not wish it to detract attention from the launch of the Gallardo Spyder and Roadster (the latter the production version of the no-compromises Concept S seen in Geneva) and special edition Gallardo Piton coupe models. The facelifted Murcielago will probably not, however, be seen until next year, when four-wheel drive versions with the uprated 6.5 V12 will be revealed, and perhaps even the long-rumoured diesel models with the VW TDI V10. Lamborghini is also said to be working on a modern-day LM 002 off-roader, and prototypes have been built of 'LM 00X' high-spec Reef Runner, Road Runner and Race Runner derivatives featuring a pair of scissor-opening doors. There are also reports that the so-called 'baby Lambo' project is well underway, with a coupe using an Audi V8 scheduled for launch in 2008[.
"...cuz the rav4 is slated to be released in february."
Well, it's true that the Toyota RAV4 V6 will be out in February, but remember that the new RAV4 4-cylinder will be available for sale in NA by December (so basically, I really feel that Tokyo is the most likely). Fcuke,
You can take the Hyundai Entourage off of the list: plans to build the vehicle were officially axed Friday, with the announcement coming today. The two brands (Kia and Hyundai) want to further differentiate themselves from one another, and releasing similar minivans based on the same platform just wasn't the way to do it. The company will instead focus on its SUV and sport wagon line-up. No word yet on when the Santa Fe (CM) will first debut.
Mike
____________

I was thinking, we're expecting an M3 concept at IAA. But is there any news on it being the coup? The normal, altough a little dissapointing, thing would be a 4-door saloon M3. It would be strange to present a coup-concept since there hasn't been any official news on it yet. Do you guys know something? thx

"The V8 is a close relative of the equally large power plant that drives the currently most dynamic Audi, the RS 4.
...The engine excels not only with its dominant power output (257 kW/350 bhp) at 6,800 rpm and a maximum torque of 440 Nm at 3,500 rpm. The resultant driving performance is excellent, even in the face of tough competition.
...In just 7.4 seconds the new Audi Q7 4.2 quattro sprints from zero to 100 km/h and accelerates superbly up to a top speed of 248 km/h. Fuel consumption: only 13.8 litres of premium plus fuel per 100 kilometres (overall / provisional figure)...
...Both (3.0 TDI and V8) engines are combined as standard with a 6-speed tiptronic. This transmission allows the engines' power potential to be converted into a masterly synthesis of dynamism...
...Like the RS 4 most recently, the Q7 is equipped with the latest-generation quattro drive technology. Here the torque split between front and rear axle is 40 : 60. This provides the basis for even more agility - most notably when steering into bends - with practically no perceivable torque steer....
...Large vehicles are not infrequently used to tow trailers - with a trailer weight of up to 3,500 kg the Q7 is clearly destined to be used this way. With this is mind, another function is an indispensable safety feature - the trailer stabilisation system. Often at cruising speed, and even when driving straight ahead, minor lateral movements build up, causing the trailer to sway dangerously as a result. The ESP trailer stabilisation function identifies this situation and effectively stabilises the outfit by means of automatic brake intervention.
....A new generation of the radar-assisted distance control system, adaptive cruise control plus, is being introduced in the new Audi Q7. As an extension of conventional adaptive cruise control, the system now controls distance and speed from 0 to 200 km/h. It is therefore able to brake the vehicle to a standstill behind the vehicle ahead.
....The collision warning system is being introduced for the first time on the Q7. It uses the sensors of the adaptive cruise control function and has a range of up to 180 metres. If there is the risk of a collision with the car in front, the system alerts the driver in two stages: first a warning tone is issued, with an optical signal appearing on the instrument panel at the same time. If the driver does not react, the system triggers a clearly noticeable warning jolt, produced by a fast build-up of pressure in the brake system. The purpose of the jolt is to draw the driver's attention immediately to what is happening on the road in front of the vehicle.
...Incorporating radar sensors, Audi side assist monitors the area next to and behind the vehicle to warn the driver - additionally to the image in the rear-view mirror - of any approaching vehicles. The driver is alerted by a warning light on the outside mirror, followed by an additional acoustic signal should he/she nevertheless switch on the direction indicator.
...The open sky system, available as an option, gives all occupants a feeling of generous spaciousness and ensures an excellent supply of fresh air, along with a high level of versatility. The large panorama glass sunroof extends in three segments, reaching virtually from the front roof edge to the third seat row. The front segment of the 1.6 square metre open sky system can be raised and moved to the rear electrically. The rear segment is designed as a tilting roof. CLK DTM AMG Cabriolet
High technology derived from motorsport, the handling dynamism of the racetrack, a sensational visual appearance and the utmost exclusivity the new Mercedes-Benz CLK DTM AMG Cabriolet is guaranteed to make the hearts of true car lovers beat faster. A limited edition of 100, the CLK DTM AMG Cabriolet is capable of a fulminating performance with its 428-kW/582-hp AMG 5.5-litre, supercharged V8, a newly developed AMG sports suspension, optional sports tyres and aerodynamics refined in the wind tunnel: this high-performance AMG sports car accelerates to 100 km/h in just 4.0 seconds and has a maximum speed of 300 km/h (electronically limited). This makes the new high-performance AMG Cabriolet the worlds fastest open-top four-seater.
The great demand for the CLK DTM AMG Coup, which was likewise a limited edition of 100 and rapidly sold out, provided the initial impetus for the development of the powerful high-performance AMG Cabriolet. It was also modelled on the most successful car in the German Touring Car Masters the racing version of the Mercedes-Benz CLK with which Bernd Schneider was able to win the DTM championship in the 2003 season. The equipment of the CLK DTM AMG Cabriolet also takes its lead from the racetrack: AMG sports bucket seats with leather/Alcantara upholstery guarantee optimal lateral support, while the buckskin-covered, oval AMG racing steering wheel and the AMG instrument cluster with its 360 km/h speedometer scale lend an unmistakable motorsport touch to the interior.
The exterior design of the new CLK DTM AMG already suggests outstanding performance at the level of thoroughbred sports cars, and demonstrates the transfer of top-class technology from the world of motor racing: a deep-drawn front apron with large air inlets, prominently flared wheel arches, 19 and 20-inch AMG light-alloy wheels and the diffuser-look rear end with its aerofoil are reminiscent of the successful CLK racing tourers from the DTM. Numerous body components are made from particularly strong and lightweight carbon fibre reinforced plastic (CRP), for example the bonnet, doors, front wings, flared rear wheel arches and aerofoil.
Performance at the level of a super sports car
The Cabriolet is powered by the supercharged AMG eight-cylinder engine, which is familiar from other AMG cars but has been specifically reengineered with modifications to the crankcase, pistons, valve gear, cooling, intake manifold, supercharger and exhaust system. The AMG V8 engine generates a maximum output of 428 kW/582 hp at 6100 rpm from a displacement of 5439 cubic centimetres, while the maximum torque of 800 Newton metres is available at 3500 rpm.
Instant response to movements of the accelerator, a powerful surge of torque, exhilarating liveliness and an unmistakable V8 sound are the particular strengths of this ultra-powerful, supercharged AMG 5.5-litre V8 unit, which gives the new CLK DTM AMG Cabriolet the sort of performance levels found in super sports cars. the 100 km/h mark is reached from standstill in just 4.0 seconds, and the top speed is 300 km/h (electronically limited) no other open-top four-seater in regular production can match these figures. A racing touch is also provided by the AMG SPEEDSHIFT five-speed automatic transmission: the five gears are changed by briefly pulling the shift paddles on the steering wheel, with extremely short shift times guaranteeing a particularly sporty and direct driving experience.
Newly developed torsion suspension, limited-slip differential
The suspension is fully the equal of the high-performance engine. In line with usual motor racing practice, a height-adjustable torsion suspension system is used. The rear axle has been redesigned with completely new spring links and wheel carriers, as well as reinforced drive shafts. The usual rubber elements are replaced by uni-ball joints on both axles to produce outstandingly precise handling. A multi-disc limited slip differential on the rear axle ensures optimal traction, while acceleration skid control (ASR) and the Electronic Stability Program ESP have been adapted to suit the increased performance potential.
Optional Dunlop sports tyres for particularly good grip
Outstanding road contact is provided by the optional sports tyres by the DTM motorsport partner Dunlop; these size 225/35 R 19 (front) and 285/30 R 20 (rear). These tyres have particularly good grip and are fitted to multi-piece 9 x 19 and 10 x 20-inch AMG twin-spoke light-alloy wheels. These elegant spokes are not only an eye-catching feature, but also ensure effective ventilation of the brakes. Superb deceleration is provided by the newly developed AMG high-performance composite braking system with six-piston fixed callipers at the front and four-piston fixed callipers at the rear.
Functional racing atmosphere in the interior
The interior of the CLK DTM AMG is characterised by a functional motor racing atmosphere, with a judicious touch of the exclusivity expected of a genuine AMG high-performance car. AMG sports bucket seats of ultra-light CRP with leather/ Alcantara upholstery provide the occupants with outstanding lateral support, while the AMG sports steering wheel with its oval rim is covered in high-grip buckskin and gives the driver an excellent feel for the vehicle. Like the instrument cluster, the door linings and other interior components are of lightweight CRP. The silver-coloured shift gate, starter button and four rocker switches are eye-catching features on the redesigned centre console.
Despite a performance potential worthy of the racetrack, the CLK DTM AMG has all the virtues typical of any Mercedes model: everyday suitability, durability, safety, quality and standards of service to satisfy even the most demanding requirements. The fast AMG Coup is hand-assembled in close cooperation between Mercedes-AMG GmbH and H.W.A. GmbH. The latter is one of the most successful touring car racing teams, and is also responsible for assembly and operation of the current C-Class DTM cars. The first of the limited-edition CLK DTM AMG Cabriolets will be delivered to customers during the first half of 2006. Mercedes-AMG GmbH is responsible for marketing, sales and service.
Source: DC

Look, I can appreciate Mercedes' penchant for crossover concepts of late but this, surely has to be the most pointless car I've ever seen them make.
1. Why showcase the 5.5 litre supercharged again - why not a higher state of tune 63 AMG engine as per the latest CLK DTM demonstrator?
2. DTM meets boulevard cruiser... does the world really need such a thing. In my admittedly cynical opinion, the two concepts are nigh mutually exclusive and the result shows in this utterly confused looking "cabrio".
3. ML63 AMG and now this... was that the best that Benz could do for Frankfurt this year with AMG? Evidently, yes...
4. Limited production, granted, but still this contributes further to the most contrived Mercedes Benz model range ever. And that's what's hurting the image of Mercedes Benz the most. Normal people just can't keep up any more.
