The SVT Mustang coupe will be shown there, possibly a convertable version as well.
from thecarconnecton:
:SVT Still Kicking, Ford Says
With no cars currently on the market, thereve been plenty of rumors working their way through the industry grapevine about the future of Ford Motor Co.s high-performance SVT unit. But reports of its demise have been greatly exaggerated, the head of the brand-within-a-brand told TheCarConnection.com, lifting a turn-of-phrase from Mark Twain. Wed hate to give up on the brand equity weve established over the last 10 years, insisted Hau Thai-Tang, the new boss of SVT, who until recently led the development of the new, retro-styled Mustang. An SVT version of the Mustang will be unveiled at the upcoming New York Auto Show, said Thai-Tang, and though he wouldnt confirm production plans, sources told TCC its a bit more than a year away. Several other possible SVT models are under consideration, with an emphasis on adding a more mainstream product, such as a high-performance Fusion sedan."
The owner of http://www.themustangsource.com talks to HTT via email personally:
[Brad]: Can you confirm or deny if there will be a Cobra ragtop?
Hau Thai-Tang: Come to New York.
Most likely the 06 Explorer will show as well, NAIAS is too early to show one of their sales leader's successors.

Are you sure about that. As I undersdtand it the SC is not do for replacement any time soon. HOwever Lexus is supposed to release another SC clas vehicle but smaller in size to the current SC. so they'll have 2 convertibles.

Naga Royal Guard
03-09-2005, 09:24 AM
it stands to reason the SC would at least be facelifted since its listed on lexus.jp and currently wears the Toyota Soarer badge in Japan - i dont think they wouldnt just slap the L on the same thing and sell it there after entirely new IS and GS models

o, the mercedes area downstars was the only crowded area, you had to stand in a line to sit in one. Did anyone go in the simulator for Suburu, I wanted to go but there was a 2 hour wait

the downstairs area for mercedes wasnt too bad when i was there..i had to wait maybe 3 minutes to sit in the red G because some guy was on his cell phone
but maybe thats because the show had only been open for 10 minutes when i was down there. did anyone park at the place listed by the autoshow at 42nd street and 9th avenue?? i drove there, and to my surprise the clearence was 6'2" and i was in a 2001 LX470...no way in hell i was fitting in there. parking was my only problem, ill never drive to the show again..they should have made arrangements at a place that can accomadate everyone

There was a three hour wait for the simulator this year, last year it was only 15 mintues, nearly the same exact time. I took the train, 40 minutes to get there, walked 3 blocks east from Penn Station, and that was that.

You have to watch out for ghetto lots,2 years ago they stole my dads CD magazine case and CDs from his old RX.
The Hyndia lot was dead empty and the Ford truck guy was talking to himself (I felt sorry for him)
However I was very disappointed with the Mercedes S class, looked very cheap inside+ the 3 ppl waiting on line for it agreed with me.
Another strange thing was the rear sun shades in both of the Acura RLs was broken.

The upstairs area was crowded as usual but the downstairs where hyundia and other car and truck manufacturers was empty. Isuzu was the most empty with probably 2 people there but mercedes had crowds of people for their SUV's

The truck and small import section was never popular vs. the main floor. I will say that it had less poeple this year vs. last year.
But I think more new cars came out last year vs. this year, the 300C, JEEP GC, Magnum, ME412, SLK, CLS... and that's just from DCX. Ford also showed off it's new sedans last year. There was a big decrease in new cars this year.
