Images of the facelifted Hyundai i20 have been released onto the web ahead of the car's official unveiling at next week's 82nd Geneva International Auto Salon.
The styling tweaks to the three-year old i20 were more or less to be expected, as the focus was to refresh the supermini and bring it more in line with the latest Hyundai models on the Europe market such as the i30 hatch and i40 sedan/estate.

Most of the changes take place up front with the 2012 i20 gaining slimmer headlamps, the company’s signature hexagonal grille, a redesigned front bumper with new vents and fog lamp housings, as well as a different hood that hugs the front fenders.

The styling revisions continue at the back with the new headlamps the reprofiled bumper, while Hyundai also added new alloy wheel designs.

For more information on the other upgrades that may or may not be featured on the 2012 i20, we'll have to wait for the Geneva Motor Show.

A pretty predictable Hyundai front end. The rear still looks awkward.

I don't see why they didn't retire it and replace it with the accent

It looks somewhat odd from that angle like the face-lift didn't work.

Its a decent update but the headlights seem to be mounted too low...

And I still wouldn't know why to get this over a Kia Rio.

I find it funny how its referred to as the "all new i20" which really isn't true

I'm guessing they don't make LHD i20 models in India (geographically, this is the closest plant to the ASEAN region).
The European i20 models (RHD & LHD) are made in Turkey, while the South Korean plant doesn't manufacture the i20, instead thay have the slightly bigger Accent 5-door.

Chances are, we'll get the Accent 5-door instead if Hyundai needs a new B-segment hatchback in our market.

PS: I know there were rumors last year that they might bring it in, but so far no updates.

Its a decent update but my problem is with the rear end which already looked like a Corsa, compare the new lights to the corsa;

Hyundai's going back to WRC!!

http://www.hyundai-blog.com/hyundai-i20-wrc

This has been known for quite some time. Hyundai will join the WRC in 2014. Car will initially be developed at Hyundai R&D in Namyang, South Korea and will then finish development in Germany. Hyundai plans to have a base in the Frankfurt area of Germany near European HQ. This is going to be an in house project unlike the old Accent WRC. Hyundai is even exiting out of American Rally Cross to focus on this program.
