Hi guys,
first of all, my name is Jachym and I really like this forum and hope I will also be able to contribute in the future. I am a student, studying genetics in the Czech republic and my hobbies are digital photography, photoshop, sciences, computers and of course... photoshop ;-)

Back to the topic though... I wanted to ask if in this contest we can also use cars from the "Concepts" section. In the rules it says just World and NA Debuts, but concepts would also be interesting dont you think?

Hi Jachym - welcome to CarSpyShots. :)

I think we can allow concept cars too. Best of luck when you enter the contests!

OK, so seems like I will be the first one to post something :D

I first wanted to chop the Volvo You concept car, but then decided to try the new Cadillac XTS. I made a coupe out of it.

I changed the headlights a little bit, made some changes to the front grill, overall shape of the car, lowered the back part, removed the rear door, etc.

This is my first ever car chop and I know it is far from perfect so any criticism and comments are welcomed.

That's the concept XTS from Detroit.

You need to chop a production or concept car from the LA Auto Show like the production XTS.

Correct, this is what the production version of the XTS looks like.

is it ok to post preliminary chops? or are we supposed to make a thread in Member Chops?

I don't know if I will go back to these ... they're just what I call "tweaks";
and since I don't use Photoshop, I'm not very gung-ho on trying for pristine renderings anyway...

changes:
taller trunk, no changes to greenhouse, 2 versions of rear fender hips.
eliminated extensions of A-pillar onto hood (pet peeve) for a more rectangular front end,
lowered hood cutline (& badge) to match crease-line in grille, shrank fascia openings & added small crease to continue rocker panel sculpting, brightened grille

Hi 2b2,

Posting "work in progress" shots is a great idea and theres no reason why it isn't allowed.

Just make sure they are clearly labelled as not being the final version. :)

guess those are final unless I post updated ones ;)

I think it looks alot better now, I have reduced the height of the body,, re designed the D pillar area and reduced the rear over hang, original parked beside it for comparison.

A new chop in a long time, because I'm very busy. So here is the new Escape/Kuga with a new front and some other tweaks, because I don't like the big grille.

So, here is my try at the BMW i8 concept.
Now, I am by no means saying "my version" is better or nicer... it is just a bit more closer to reality as it is quite obvious BMW would never release a car with such a design into production (shame, but it just would be too expensive and extravagant).

Still though I think it is a very nice car and tried to leave the best parts as they are. I changed the headlamps, adjusted the front grill, removed some glass bits on the body, changed slightly the shape of the back lights and a few other minor tweaks.

I appreciate all comments and just want to say this is my first ever car chop in photoshop (not counting the previous one in this thread which doesnt fit the rules) and I know it is far from perfect.

2b2-3 i have noooooo idea what you changed
BryanRW-4 a little goes a long way(wink wink)
chef211-2 doesn't seem like your taking it serious or spending enough time on chops
Porsche-Power-4 looks cool but don't notice a difference
jachym-3 hood is nice but headlamp could be better
