According to these pics it should be close to the drawings.

So far KIA has impressed me while Hyundai had the most "fail" moments of the show. Hopefully this will be yet another good looking KIA

Nice, clean design. Thinking how mediocre at best cars the previous genertations of teh Rio were, I wouldn't mind a new name. Hiring Schreyer fom AUdi really pays of for Kia.

Interesting, the rear view gives me certain Seat Leon Mk. 1 vibes (which for me is a good thing as I liked it), altogether this feels very European....

This is a pleasant surprise. Think it might be my favorite in its class.

looking at past Rio models, I have to say that this one is much better, but on a contrary to the ProCeed, their last SUV models, new Cadenza, Optima and Picanto, that stacked the ladder much higher than their predecessors, this one still have a kind of "budget" feeling attached to it... at least on photos.

I hope that pictures just aren't "kind enough" to it and that, seen live, it will be decent piece of a car... in both senses, design and build level!

VERY nicely done. It definitely makes the Fiesta look fussy by comparison.

Looks awesome. Make sure you read about new 1.2L Turbo GDI engine which will also make debut in the 2012 Kia Rio:

I don't know.. the headlights are a bit fussy. It does look like an old Leon with braces. Heaps better than the old one, but not as great a design as the other latest Kia designs (I love the new Optima)

Not bad at all...I think the front is a bit fussy with overlarge headlights, but overall it's a looker. I still think the Fiesta looks better, but not by nearly as big a margin as with the new Accent.

I thought the exact same thing. So nice, clean and attractive for a tiny car. I may rent this.

In what way? The Fiesta is finely sculpted and more distinct looking. This Rio looks nice, specially compared to the crappy model it replaces, but it is kinda fussy in the front IMO. Still, nice if nothing extraordinary

That's what I thought when I first saw it too!!

Looks great in my opinion, looking forward to seeing how the sedan turns out!

This looks "all of one piece" where as the Fiesta looks more like a collage

The new Kia Rio with the 1.6-liter 138 bhp GDI engine and six-speed automatic is going to be a huge seller in the US market, in my humble opinion.

In fact, the 2012 Kia Rio might get 31 mpg city/41 mpg highway with the 1.6-liter Gamma GDIU engine and the six-speed automatic. That's an amazing feat given how stringent the EPA 2008 test is.

One of the surprises of Geneva (in a good way) was the New Rio really has overtones of previous generation Seat Leon and 3 door Audi A3 but brought bang up to date. The front looked crisp and fresh and the interior was packed with goodies, was classy and didn't look too generic. I'm not sure if I would pick one over a Fiesta but if the price was right - and just to have something a bit different - I might. Never thought I would say that about a Rio!

Yes, considering the Rio used to be one of teh least desireable offerings in it's segment, the new one does seem at first glance up with the best. Ofcourse, the Fiesta has nice engines and a great chasis as well, test wll show if the Rio can compete in these points as well. THough I guess it will be rather good as well...

I'm liking the hatch very much, but like all of these mini sedans, I just can't see the point? They don't look as good (IMO of course) and serve very little to no extra spacial purposes?!

I can say for sure that, as far as the domestic Korean market goes, people much prefer sedans over hatchbacks or wagons, no matter what the size of the car. It's just been that way for a long while.

Even back in the days of Ford Festiva / Kia Pride, there were sedan variants designed especially for Korean market which, despite atrocious proportions, sold reasonably well.

mmmh not bad looking, but... very weird, it looks like it doesn't share any sheet metal, nor the A-pillar, hood, headlights, etc... with the hatch. nothing at all. why?

Kia K2 made its official premiere in Shanghai earlier today. It looks pretty cool, don't you think? In my humble opinion, the new K2 looks better than both, Ford Fiesta sedan and Chevy Sonic sedan. What's your opinion?

Not bad, but sub-compact sedans don't really make sense in my opinion. You get more room in a hatchback, and the sedans always look a bit squished like a hot-wheels dinky.

Well, in this case, Kia Rio/K2 sedan has 500L cargo space while hatch has only 290+L.

It's completely different from the chinese market K2 released yesterday. This one matches the Rio hatch unveiled for Europe...much better in my opinion. Kia is on a roll with their latest designs. I really like the new Kia Rio and Hyundai Accent models. http://www.en.kolobok.us/smiles/standart/good2.gif It makes the 2012 Nissan Versa look really old-fashioned, especially with the Versa's underpowered drivetrain.

No manual *period* or no manual at the dealer? The manual I drove in the Veloster wasn't half bad. I'd love the Rio to go "GTI hunting" with a turbo and a great suspension.

Unless you get a base LX model (with crank windows and manual locks) you can't get a Manual transmission. The second you add an option, you lose manual transmission. I want a car with at least power windows....

OTOH, the Accent offers MT on every trim.

Which sucks, because I find the Accent to be ugly.

THAT it utterly bizarre given that they are the same car! Do you HATE the Veloster? I hated it until I saw it and in person it really grew on me. The MT Veloster I drove was wonderful.
