View Full Version : Design Challenge: New Chrysler/Lancia

05-11-2010, 06:48 PM
1. New Chrysler/Lancia - Is it possible to design a vehicle that looks like both a Chrysler and a Lancia with little or no styling difference, but appeals to buyers of both brands in their respective markets?

2. Land Rover Defender - Now that LR is under new ownership, surely they are going to need new products to keep them afloat. Perhaps a modern redesign of this Automotive Icon?

I find both equally intriguing topics, one to replace an icon (Defender) and the other to develop a new car neutral enough to satisfy to very different markets...
But my vote goes for the Defender, I'd like to see a new take on the off-roader...!!

Weirdly they're my suggestions but havn't a clue for either.. I'm going Chrylse/Lancia though

Voted for the Chrysler/Lancia contest.

This is a really interesting idea. I'm not sure if it can be done with Chryslers appearing big, blocky and menacing; and Lancia appearing classy, quirky and European in flavour.

It will be interesting to see what we all come up with.

The Land rover idea is also good, but I believe it won't be as diverse as the Chrysler/Lancia idea.

The Chrylancia is the more pressing one in terms of market and a tougher test of designers' vision.

Hi, guys. Now I will have allready a lot of free time for drawing cars, so i will do something for next contest and I will look forward to it. But i wanted to design some crossover or SUV :) Please :) :) :)

The Chrysler-Lancia should be easy. The Delta looked very natural with a Chrysler grille.

Ok, so, can I begin work on some lancia/chrysler project allready?

The Delta as a Chrysler and the 300C as a Lancia. :)

Reckon I can have a think about the Lancia/Chrysler?
Off to Scotland tomorrow then Finland on Tuesday for a week(ish).
Be back about the 24th, doubt will have time for a render though

Now that Chryler/Lancia will essentially be merged into one, Your mission designers is to envision an all new vehicle that looks like both a Chrysler and a Lancia with little or no styling difference and will appeal to buyers of both brands in their respective markets.

Good luck designers!!! This contest will end on May 25.
Also, don't forget to post your development sketches and ideations in the Contest Development Thread (http://www.carspyshots.net/showthread.php?t=16571)

Since I'm now on summer vacation I have no excuse for not making an entry. I'll see what I can do!

05-26-2010, 07:49 PM
Is anyone going to enter or should we close this and move on to the next?

05-27-2010, 05:10 PM
I am focussing on my exams, so I will join in a month or so :P

05-27-2010, 05:14 PM
have half an entry but been busy. will post tomorrow

05-27-2010, 11:11 PM
I'm having trouble coming up with ideas for this contest but I can still come up with an entry. I think part of the problem is many people are still busy with finals

05-28-2010, 10:52 PM
No excuse, I'm late. Anyways, after sketching a bunch of Chryslers, I had forgotten that it also had to fit as a Lancia. After going back to the drawing board as they say, this is what I came up with. A Mini competitor which comes as a 3 and 5 door. I experimented with quite a few design details.

This would sure work in both markets, nice sketches!
We would prefer a pair of side mirrors too in Europe though :)

Haha, that's what I thought... great sketches though, works brilliantly as both a Chrysler and a Lanica.

This started off as just me practicing my rear-drive proportions, but I figured with a bit of tweaking I could enter it into this competition. And so I did...

Lancia Flaminia GT

Chrysler Ambush

Italian styling, and American power. Chrysler has a history of doing this kind of thing, with the ChryslerGhia L6.4 and, urrm... Chrysler TC.

Seems like no one else is going to enter therefore, contest closed! Seeing as there are only two entries voting will fall along the lines of the design battles.

Voting will be open for 48 hours here are the entries.

Congratulations to ElementW for the winning entry! PM me two topics that you would like to see so that we can get a poll going for the next contest.

Thanks again designers and as always great work!
