Okay, I wish I voted for the Maserati.
I tried chopping an army tank and a boat, both looked stupid..
I'll see if I can get some inspiration..

As far as photos go it has perfect angle and simple reflections.

Some ideas:

Hatchback, Pickup, Hybrid, Monster Truck, Shooting Brake, Etc...

@bm88, true, but it might just be slightly 'too perfect'.
Thanks for the ideas, I will have an entry in today probably.

@TheophilusChin,
"I did learn something though, experimenting with rendering shiny and glossy coloured surface, into matt-black surface."
Can you tell me what kind of magic you used to get that matt surface?
I'm still a noob on reflections and brushing.

@TheophilusChin,
Can you tell me what kind of magic you used to get that matt surface?

Magic? Hahahaha no way, I happen to stumble upon the method by getting rid of the colour and adjust (reducing) its saturation. Then there's also some air-brushing to get rid of the highlights and sharp reflection/shadows. Show edges are blurred out as well. Gosh, having said that, many masters here must be laughing at me, over my "stupid" method.

...air-brushing...

I never thought I would hear you utter those words!

If you get into airbrushing you will be nothing short of amazing. :D

Nice WIP there Baji192.

If you get time to add the finishing touches I can't wait to do so but if not I will use that image.

The actual car doesn't look bad. It's the way it blends in with the background that needs touching up.

Now I'm no expert, but even I can see that more shadow is needed underneath that car. Add some shadow, and your chop will be great!

I'm having the same problem. I've tried making it a Pontiac Aztek (that's usually the first thing I try :)), I've tried making into an X6/ZDX-style coupe-crossover (I don't like that phrase, but I'll use it for want of a better way to describe them), I've tried making it into a Mazda. Hmmm... This is difficult.

I really don't want to resort to doing a 'tooned version.

please excuse the bad lighting/reflections/shading/airbrushing. I found this chop really difficult as the donor images weren't really that great. The base image itself was a little hard to work with because for some reason the proportions seemed a little awkward.

Great work! I would not be able to guess what the base for this chop was if I didn't already know.

Some messy bits (probably due to over-enthusiasm with the "smudge" tool, am I right?), but the design is spot on.

Nicely done!

Thanks Accartoons.

To be honest, I dont use the smudge tool EVER. Im not sure why but during the process of resizing the a few of the lines have become jagged especialy around the rear c pillar.

The messiness is because of the layering process i use - i can't airbrush to save my life so i depend on good quality donor images to layer, but in this case, my donor images were pretty bad quality - some had reflections, some didn't, some were light some were dark. And having to distort the pieces to place where i wanted distorted the quality a lot. but oh well. One day when I work out how do airbrush properly, these mistakes will be a thing of the past.

Here's the chop BEFORE the background change and resize:
