Possibility of the next-generation Hyundai Elantra at Geneva? Given that sales of the new model starts in July 2010, Hyundai needs to unveil the new Elantra either at the Chicago Auto Show in about two weeks or at the Geneva Auto Show in March.

Doubt it. Don't think it will even be offered in Europe anymore.

Astra and Focus 3 door... yummy! Can't wait to see those. What else haven't we already seen? The CT200 which seems to look amazing, the Focus Estate and the one I'm really looking forward to, the new Alfa 159 replacement 4door Giugiaro concept.

If Lamborghini drops the Jota on us I will die. I will just DIE.

Also, re: Koenigsegg, if you're thinking of the Quant (still lol'ing at that name) then it's actually no longer a Koenigsegg project IIRC.

My bet is a Lamborghini Gallardo SV of some sorts. It's a bit early for the Murcielago sucessor.

...isn't the LP550-2 Valentino Balboni essentially an SV, in the traditional sense (2WD, lightweight)?

Nice. They've already covered a CCXR in diamond paint, I wonder what ludicrous excess they've dreamed up now (as I don't imagine they will have an all-new model in store).

You can read more about Hyundai at Geneva Motor Show (http://www.hyundai-blog.com/index.php/2010/02/25/geneva-preview-hyundai-releases-new-image-of-hed-7-concept-car/) here.

The company plans to unveil new i-flow design study, ix35 fuel cell electric vehicle and "Blue" models of i10, i20, i30 hatch and i30 wagon that all achieve less than 100g of CO2 per 100km. Hyundai will also debut a ix35 Blue, which has a CO2 output of 135g/km - a benchmark for a crossover vehicle of such size. Quite exciting, isnt, it?

Pug WZX... this could be Peugeot's version of the new Mitsubishi ASX/RVR.

From what I've read its the first SAAB NOT made by GM. A modern version of the tear drop 99. I understand this concept has been developed in background by Victor Mullers team (CEO Spyker cars) whilst negotiations went on. It will probably be built on a non GM platform - it will be Mini Countryman size (approx)

Wow, quick turnaround, though. What's the hurry? If it's going to be built on a new platform it won't be built for years, anyway.

I think its to show SAABs new beginning. I've received a number of letters from my local SAAB dealer talking about 26th January 2010 as Independence day. So the dealers obviously feel its a fresh start - I think the concept will reinforce that.

Maybe they could share the platform with... BMW perhaps? The Germans need a partner for developing the next Mini. Even the current Countryman platform should be good enough for SAAB IMO. Perfect actually!

My thoughts exactly! If they want to be seen as a premium player they must not make the mistake Jaguar did by basing the new car on a mainstream model. It would be too early for them. I think Audi just about gets away with it.

The Mini/9-1 makes a lot of sense. but...

The most sense is for Saab to maintain its engineering ties with GM and become a full hybrid premium brand, because the Spyker thing still smacks of a clever sleight of hand to save Saab while not letting it go completely.

The Qashqai just debuted a 129g/Km Pure Drive version so no. Not really.

It would depend on the number of cars SAAB would want to sell. I'm not really sure co-developing a platform to just sell 30/40k cars/year would make financial sense, for either of them actually.

Yeah, that seems to have disappeared completely. Even car mags are now refferring to Alfas TWO concepts... weird.

Ascariss
03-04-2010, 08:58 AM
could it be that alfa decided to use that design from Giugiaro and not preview it? or perhaps they did not finish the concept in time for the show?

the1

I was so eager to see THAT car... what a disappointment.

LE: I hope they will choose the Giugiaro version, since the current 159 is one the best looking sedans EVER. I'm sure their new version is just as sleek.

DoMiNo
03-04-2010, 01:54 PM
Giugiaro's concepts as of late have been uninspired, in my opinion (including the Proton Emas at Geneva), so I'm not too disappointed. The Pininfarina and Bertone versions both contain cues that would translate into a beautiful new Alfa range, including a stunning new 159 successor.

The thing is, I'd be stunned if they hadn't already worked out the design for the 159 replacement. It's 5 model years old.

The Geneva Motor Show this year is very hybrid-heavy, but, with hybrids, the electric motor(s) can add significant boost, performance and torque to the equation, as well as cutting emissions and boosting MPG, so, it's all a good thing.
