so those leaked pictures were real then, although it was pretty obvious already...looks good, the front is way better-looking than the current LS while still retaining its presence, the side is nice like all new lexuses (lexi?) and the rear is nice too, although i think i prefer the GS's and IS's taillights (still nice though). anyway, good job lexus

Very nice!
I still think it looks like a BMW.....

the problem is that there are two threads; one in the spy shots section and one here. I suppose as this is not the production model there are still chances that spy shots of the real thing could be found.
Anyway I think this car looks great and suprisingly original (given the cars demographic and size). I think Lexus has done a decent job. I want to see the interior though (rumoured to be extra special).

Fu*-cking Wow, elegant and stylish at the same time
only time will tell how production ready it is tho

Sorry, but being a product design and graphic design student I kinda pride myself on being creative when producing ideas.
Time after time we see Lexus cars, and time after time we see them being shot down because of their styling.
Admittedly their designs are getting a little more creative, but they simply can not be compared to the Germanic rivals.

I really like it. The front and back look very LS but there is something wrong with the side view, it's still good though. Maybe it would look better without the weird window profile, and different mirrors.
I like this side view better but I like the LF-Sh front and back better.

source: autoweek
I thought the LS would have looked more like this, but Im glad it didnt

I see some Phaeton in the front 5er in the side profile with some A6 in the lower door sills. There are other elements that are distinctly Lexus, but the influence of the others are there. Not that that is a bad thing, since they are respected as some of the best. And it doesn't look like the previous generation S-Class. It will be interesting to see how much translates into production.

The old one put people to sleep and still sold so this one is going to as well. I just want to see the interior to see if it can match the new s-classes interior. But im not going to see many of these anyway since the sclass outsells by a huge margin it in my area

At least it's not a last gen S-Class copy. Looks like a big IS. A little too slab-sided, but the rest is ok. Right on target for the LS demographic.

Nice but like someone said it is boring though. There were sooo many rummors that this car was going to be the sh** but i dont really think so the tail lights look lik the Honda Odyssey's. And i think that the exterior is too blocky looking i dont see any nice curves like the GS or IS. Oh and the rear doors bug me too see that they have that little kinda fin on the back towards the C pillar it bugs me that it looks like that i saw it on the IS too.
Overall im not impressed but not dissapointed i just expected it to be WAY better and not so boring. And this is the concepts which is suppose to be better than the production so...

That concept that Charger posted looks waaaay better than the one Lexus obviously went for. The one that Charger posted actually looks innovative and new, whereas the actual concept is good, but still boring and uninspiring.

this looks awesome but i keep thinking stretched IS, turned into a concept, with a higher roofline.

10-19-2005, 08:15 PM
As a Volkswagen fan you would expect me to bash this but I do have a soft spot for Lexus.
My opinion on the Front is that it goes well with a IS and Phaetonesque look.
The Side Line - I agree with Player4 I don't like that fin above the window line on the rear door if that were straight or had a quarter section like the Phaeton it would work much better, the front door is fine.
As for the rear pillar kind of reminds me of a Mazda 6 especially with those tail lights.
The Rear has a BMW 5 series meets an dated Mazda 626 look, I'm not sure if it has worked well in this concept design, I like the GS rear much better.
Overall for a concept, Lexus have done a good job and if VWAG weren't aronud I'd be won over but as long as Japanese cars fill Australia I wouldn't buy one.

Less offensive than the current LS 430 bloatmobile, but it's hardly interesting.

Positive design review from Car Design News:

Quote »

Lexus LF-Sh concept
It's called a concept here but in reality this is next year's new Lexus LS model, complete with hybrid 4WD drivetrain and V8 engine. The design follows that of the smaller IS and GS Series with a typical Lexus long nose and short tail profile to give a consistent and much sportier look than the current LS model. Characteristic Lexus design cues include a crisp shoulder line, fast C-pillar with the slingshot DLO shape and an A-pillar that flows into the hood. There's an elegance to the design that was always lacking in previous generations of the LS, yet it also manages to avoid the rather bulky look of the GS Series too.
So, expect a truly handsome LS at last - Lexus is jumping right into that style 'sweet spot' that the Mercedes S-Class just vacated.

http://cardesignnews.com/autos...2.php

Hmm. I still think it looks too 'generic Japanese' (esp. the front end), but I'll have to see more of it to make a better judgement. The rear's growing on me, but still, I wish Lexus would've been as adventurous as they've been with their previous few concepts. 2 years on and the LF-S still looks amazing!

Quote, originally posted by RikfromBelgium »

Denying that that thing doesn't have "I copied a 5 series" all over it, you're either blind or just ignorant. Too much liked a streched mix between the IS and GS. But a whole decade nicer than the old plain one. It still looks pretty similar though....expecially the side view.
Edit: No wait, it looks like an ES!!! I think this design sucks...especially the rear. It does look too Bangle-ish. Now this isn't a bad thing, except when used on a Lexus?
