ROUND 2: dreamersmystique vs NelsonDesign

in

Arrgh Class

The Mercedes-Benz R-Class was conceived as a game changer, initially marketed as a "Sports Cruiser" However, it ended up being nothing more than a glorified minivan and the go-to vehicle for "Country Club Soccer Moms" and "Real Estate Queens". The current model is beginning to get a bit long in the tooth and as the luxury crossover segment continues to evolve with new genre bending entries like BMW's X6 and 5 Series Gran Turismo, Acura's ZDX and Lincoln's MKT. Your mission designers is to design a captivating vehicle for this segment and give Mercedes the game changing CUV the original R-Class was intended to be.

Good Luck Designers, please PM me your entries by Nov 24.

LET THE BATTLE BEGIN!!

NelsonDesign gets my nod for better capturing what the R should look like and for best conveying the prestige of a Mercedes that the current Mercedes Pacifica doesn't. Nelson's design (sic) is just downright swanky.

+1 for Nelson.

I think his approach is more sophisticated and worked out.

My vote goes to Nelson too, it seems to me that he has made a finished looking model. And the sketches are great :P

Gotta go with Nelson. Great work, though the face is a little Jaguar XJ in some of your impressions.

I also vote for NelsonDesign. His captures the Benz style just right. Though I like the side of dreamermystique's design, the front looks more like the Nissan Leaf than a Mercedes. Mabey if it were better finished?

My vote goes to dsgnr that is one awesome design! So smooth, simple and beautiful!! omg.. Amazing man.

Sorry Nelson, but I am set a bit off with your proportions, it looks like it is way too high compared to the width. That said, I think with a bit refinement the rear could be very cool.

Oh I would also like to participate in the battles :D

Although neither submission really "does it" for me, I will have to go with dsgnr this round. As a car it is most believable and would make a good concept without having the silliness of that "concepty" look (i.e. not production viable) the most egregious recent example of which is the PNUTty thing from Honda.
