View Full Version : Design Challenge: The Next X-Type

AXIS

1. New Jaguar X-Type - Jaguar is missing out on a huge market share by not replacing the X-Type. Your mission is to design a new X-type, give it a new name, make the 3 series irrelivant!

2. Vauxhall Design Challenge - So what if Vauxhall is seperated from Opel, what would you do? Would Vauxhall go back to making luxury sedans again? Would you bring back the V grille? Design any type of car with any sort of company face, or stick to an evolutionary path!

AXIS...what exactly would the Vauxhall design challenge mean?...I mean like...a new model for what...the Insignia??..or a new niche?...I havent voted on a car yet...but would like to know about the Vauxhall challenge first...

It's pretty self explanatory, If Vauxhall and Opel were to split you would have to envision a vehicle for Vauxhall as an independent brand.

In theory, the Jaguar X-Type was a good idea but poorly executed. Now that Jaguar is under new management, your mission designers is to right this wrong and design a drop dead GORGEOUS vehicle worthy of the Jaguar name with the intention of taking down the BMW 3 series and capable of competing with the rest of the entry level luxury segment.

Good luck designers!!! This contest will end on Sept 22.
Also, don't forget to post your development sketches and ideations in the Contest Development Thread (http://www.carspyshots.net/showthread.php?t=16571)

A Jaguar XX coupesedan in the 3 Series' size would be a great way to steal sales. ;)

FINALLY!
I tried to give it a classic look, with a coupelike body and subtle, caracterful lines. The interior is just an idea.

Sorry it took so long for my entry. Been very busy!

Anyway, here it is. I've called it 'XD' for 2 reasons.. 1) the name will appeal to modern people who use phrases as XD is a smilie face with eyes closed when you look at it sideways, and 2) it will leave room for an 'XE' off the same platform which would be a coupe.

I tried to combine some XF and XJ cues, but went a bit extreme with the front detailing and gave the rear a completely different look. Some might say the rear isn't jag enough, like the XJ rear, but ...

Well...no one seems to be voting...so I will start...

TS-Design-4
Wow...I am impressed...really nice concept, clearly a new interpretation of the RD-6 concept. But, I dont really think its what I expect of the Jaguar X. I envision it to be a Coupe-Sedan...4 door...thats the only thing I dont like.
Other wise...the design language is amazing...are the front lights exposed?...because...when I was doin my ideations, thats how I hade done them, because I dont really agree with Jag losing that look and opting for a more conventional one. Well...it looks like that...and the rear is also perfect...butin a way..Prodigy's rear is better.(i mean the car...lol)

Prodigy-4
Your design had everything else that I expected out of a Jag X that TS didnt have. I just cant choose a side between the two of you. Ver nice design...though I think the front fascia has been fully derived from the XF and XJ...it should have been distinct enough for a car that comes way below the other two. But the rear is the best...short...yet neatly laid out LEDs are perfect for this car...! Nice job!

Element W-1
The design is good, but it simply looks like a stretched XK(that too...previous gen!)...an act we already saw with the DB9 and Panamera...something I dont really like...but otherwise its a good looking car...a little more originality maybe...

NelsonD-1
I am sorry...dont feel offended...but this one really didnt get much effort from you...I have seeen mucch better from you...you must have been busy surely...no hard feelings ok!...next tym!

Great work guys!...
Cheers!
