I had ideas for the E, but oh well. And upon looking at the enlarged image, the wheels look quite small.

And whats with the fat mans head bobbing around inside?

And whats with the fat mans head bobbing around inside?

LMAO I was wondering the same thing

08-09-2009, 10:31 AM
Also, just a reminder that we need your photograph suggestions (http://www.carspyshots.net/showthread.php?t=17486) for every contest!

These were chosen by a member who isn't going to be around this week so we need some more suggestions or I will have to hold the contests hostage! :D

I don't like this car. I find it a little bit ugly and I liked the F430 better.

But I'm going to make a spider version

08-09-2009, 12:20 PM
I'm surprised how many of you went for it as it's quite a hard photograph to work with.

08-09-2009, 12:52 PM
OK, that didn't work... try again!
Apologies if this is too big (first entry)

<a href="http://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r224/j6dnl/M-Coupe-by-Ruthven-1.jpg"><img src="http://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r224/j6dnl/M-Coupe-by-Ruthven-1.jpg" width="300"/></a>

08-09-2009, 01:29 PM
That looks very good Ruthven!

It's always nice to see new people enter, especially when they enter such a nice chop.

See you vote now and then but why not enter if you can!

There are a couple more Scottish members around (BryanRC for one).

As for me, I'm thinking about making a 458 Superamerica. Cut the roof off and add a single piece glass windscreen and some other subtle things here and there.

08-09-2009, 03:20 PM
Very quick one...
A less radical version, tried to make it look more like a F430.

I worked really hard because I'm the rest off the week really busy so here's mine shop

Ferrari F458 Italia Spider
<a href="http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h112/Porsche-Power/Ferrari-458-Italia-spider.jpg"><img src="http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h112/Porsche-Power/Ferrari-458-Italia-spider.jpg" width="300"></a>

08-10-2009, 03:06 AM
I was surprised, too, this photo is bloody complex. Very nice, though, Ruthven!

You guys are bloody quick!

Porsche-Power - very cool, but perhaps you should darken the areas behind the glass/windscreen since the colors would appear different through glass? At the moment it sort of appears as if there is just a big hole and no glass.

08-10-2009, 09:15 AM
I've been busy with uni recently so i haven't really been able to join in on a few of the comps. Found myself some time and decided to take part this time.

Here it is: The return of the iconic Mazda RX7

I will save the comments for voting but all the entries so far look really good!

I'm surprised how well people are 'chopping this image. I thought this was going to be a quiet contest.

Got a day of not much planned so I will try get some work done on mine.

Scrapped my Superamerica concept and have decided to go with an LMGT2 racer as that is inevitable.

08-10-2009, 10:36 PM
First post and first time photoshoping car. It is MUCH harder than i thought!

This is my entry: VW Italia
<a href="http://img8.imageshack.us/img8/3505/vwitalia.png"><img src="http://img8.imageshack.us/img8/3505/vwitalia.png" width="300"/></a>

Welcome Kthing!

If that is your first 'chop that is very impressive!

I really like what you've done with the small VW grill and the front end looks nice too.

My only complaint is the perspective on the wheels is slightly off, but everyone suffers from that problem.

Good luck in voting!

I was feeling pretty good about my entry until I saw the Peugeot from TheophilusChin!

Here is a sneak peek again:

The theme is "Corsa Nera" at the moment but it could well become "Corsa Gialla" or "Corsa Rossa" yet.

Have a lot of work to do tomorrow but I should be able to get it done on time.

08-11-2009, 10:13 PM
I don't think I'll be able to do one this week, but I have an idea and might be able to pull something out of my ass.

Surprising the two master Ps artists of CSS made a Ferrari into a French car!

Not done a thing to mine yet so it might end up being finished off the easy way.

08-12-2009, 01:40 PM
WOW! These recent entries are spectacular. :-( They all seem to make my Furarai look a bit plain. Love the NSX Blackstripe.

Don't really expect to get many votes with this one, but I thought I would do something while I had time.

Presenting the Hyundai Progeny.

08-12-2009, 05:03 PM
Hot on the heels of the Hyundai Progeny is the Ferrari 458 Corsa Nera!

<a href="http://dl.getdropbox.com/u/894794/CarSpyShots/Entries/PSC08E.jpg"><img src="http://dl.getdropbox.com/u/894794/CarSpyShots/Entries/PSC08E.jpg" width="300"/></a>

Certainly not my most tasteful or technically challenging 'chop but I think it looks good overall.

A lot of mods here and there. Most very subtle and too boring to mention but all 'brushed!

Finally, just a note to everyone that I will be closing this in around 23 hours.

08-12-2009, 05:04 PM
Thanks, Baji!

Nice entries, keep them coming! I'll keep the rest of my comments for the voting stage lol.

Ruthven - 3 points
Quality work - I'm just not a huge fan of it's looks.

S2 - 4 points
Good work, and the most of the changes are nice. But I find it's lost a little too much of the detailing in the rear end - it looks too bulky.

Porsche-Power - 3 points
Not bad, but things look a little wonky somehow to me where the roof was removed. As if the angle is a bit off or something. The shadows are wrong here too - especially the side of the fairing behind the driver's head. It might look better if it were half as dark - maybe the same shade as the lip around the rear wheel well. Also, the reflections over the front wheel look like they don't belong.

Baji192 - 5 points
Fantastic! They might get a six if we were to develop that scoring structure. I love the way it looks (some of detailing is a bit overkill, but that's how Mazda does it and why it looks perfect). Couple quality issues up front though - some strangeness/uneven areas around where the nose "peaks" along the bottom up front, and the blending in the hood (looks a bit splotchy).

ACcartoons - 2 points
Not bad up front, but a bit messy towards the rear. Side mirrors look a bit large, and the rims look a bit off centre in the tires. Like the added vent in front of the rear wheels though.

Iqo' - 3 points
First off it looks a bit too dark. Overall it doesn't look too bad, and your quality looks to be improving. I like the sleek roofline, and the red divider up front. I thought it needed that when I first saw the car. The added vent up front looks ok - but I think the shadow up top should taper off more as it gets to the front of the car. Looks like it starts too abruptly. I'm not a huge fan of the vent added to the rear - the shape of the bottom looks OK, but the top doesn't really suit the lines of the car. Maybe if the crease on top started where the door release was and curved from there to where it is now.

Kthing - 3 points
I like the idea, but a couple parts bring it down for me. Mainly, the VW grille in front fascia isn't aligned with the centre of the car. Likely because the angle of the Ferrari and the donor car (GTI?) weren't the same. I like how this would look if it were spot on though. The second is that I don't really dig the narrow grille along the bottom of the hood, but that's purely aesthetic.

TheophilusChin - 5 points
Amazing as well - it's either this one of Baji's that would be #1. Nice morphing into a Peugeot design. Only complaint is that the wheels look like they have positive camber (mainly the front one).

blackstripe - 3 points
I love the concept, and the look. However the front end looks a bit warped to me. Like the donor car had it's picture taken at a lower angle. Looks ok at first glance, but looks stranger the longer you stare at it (you can see it moreso if you look at the highlight above the left - the car's right - air inlet, and then look at the highlight above the other side.

speedfreak_77 - 5 points
Very nice as well, but a bit low-res looking. The bodywork looks ok, but the rims, headlights and the chrome grille chevron look too blurred. Kinda looks like airbrushing, possibly airbrushing of an images that was a bit lower res? The proportions are solid though.

mucus - 5 points
The changes aren't extreme, but they make such a different. Very clean work too.

bm88 - 4 points
I actually think I'd like this better if it weren't so black. It hides too much detail, and makes your additions really stand out - almost too much. By really forcing you to look at them and not the whole, you kinda notice that they aren't part of the original picture. For this kinda stuff (and 3D) it's usually best to see the forest for the forest, and not the forest for the trees. If you get what I'm saying. Good job though!

accurick - 4 points
I like the changes a lot. Only thing that bugs me in that I feel the lead-up to the Modena style scoop could be smoother. Right now how it dips now clashes a bit (maybe if the dip were more subtle, or started nearer the front wheel well. Looks very good though, and the chopping on that vent is very good.

Ruthven - 3
Nice work with the chop Ruthven, an original and interesting concept.

S2 - 3
Looks very clean, however only a few minor changes. Imo it looks a bit like a lamborghini.

Porsche-Power - 3
Good Chop,

ACcartoons - 3
I like where your trying to go with this, however the quality is quite poor. Can i just ask, are you using photoshop at all? Looks more like a MS Paint job.

Iqo' - 2
The chop seems a bit dark, and there haven't really been many changes except for the vents.

Kthing - 3
Could be a VW R8 Fighter :-P The lower air dam/grille thing is off center, skewed towards the left hand side of the car.

TheophilusChin - 4
Wow!! I love it Theophilus. I've mentioned in past comps that i think your quality is brilliant (which is no different in this chop) but that you seem to be a bit safe with what you do. However i have to say this chop is badass and i love it. Just a few minor things though, the wheels look a bit flat and there is some positive camber on the front wheel like someone else had mentioned.

blackstripe - 5
Absolutely AWESOME. This would have to be my pick of the bunch. It just works so well, especially the white with the black roof and A pillars. The only problem i can pick up is that the grille looks a bit wonky (but i can forgive u for that, because i know just how hard it is to find pics that are at similar angles. It was hard trying to get my grille for my chop right)

speedfreak_77 - 4
Another awesome job man. I have nothing to criticise, except for what i think seems to be an overly soft / almost blurry looking chop. Might be to do with the airbrushing? anyway i still like it a lot, and i think you've got great talents esp. with airbrushing - i wish i could do some of the things you've been able to do.

mucus - 3.5? (3 if decimals arent allowed)
Quite a decent chop.

Speedstick - 3
works surprisingly well as a hyundai i must say. The air brushing looks a bit blotchy (i know how hard it is to do airbrushing myself, as im not very good.). Apart from that i like it.

bm88 - 3
All the changes? Yes please. Roofscoop? No thanks. Good chop.

accurick - 2
The rear vent thing seems to conflict with the flow of the lines of the car.

08-14-2009, 02:00 AM
Thanks for the vote & feedback guys :)

4: Ruthven - quirky idea, but might work
3: S2 - subtle changes but makes the 458 easier on the eyes (at least on my eyes)
4: Porsche-Power - most likely what the Spider will look like
4: Baji192 - nice for Mazda to make the RX7 replacement
3: ACcartoons - looks good, but a bit messy
3: Iqo' - also looks good, but imho the nose looks heavier now
4: Kthing - very clean, although the placement of the VW badge is a bit off
5: TheophilusChin - really nice work transforming into a Peugeot
5: blackstripe - great job, i'm feelin it as a Honda
5: speedfreak_77 - awesome chop, although i'm being nit-picking here, it looks more like a drawing rather than a real car
4: Speedstick - real sexy for a Hyundai, but imho the nose is like pointing slightly to the right
4: bm88 - reminds me of a Pagani especially the roof scoop
3: accurick - i like what you did to the nose section

nice chop. but it's not suitable to be a BMW.

S2 - 4
very nice. looks more ferrari than the original.

Porsche-Power - 4
cool. u should darken the windshield to make it looked more realistic :)

Baji192 - 5
very nice~!~!~!. for me this is the best chop than others. very nice combination and very good quality.

ACcartoons - 3
first of all, very very nice improvement. i like the white line on the hood.

Kthing - 3
i don't think this was ur first chop. i'm very jealous. haha just kidding. it's nice to see a new member who can chop well :)

TheophilusChin - 5
i don't like the peugeot front. but the quality and creativity makes me give u 5.

blackstripe - 4
very nice. but the nsx front looks too boxy where the else of the body looks curvy. anyway, what is bulky?

speedfreak_77 - 5
the front has so many curves which make it looks futuristic. but the rest looked not much changed. but i gave u 5 :)

mucus - 4
like blackstripe, the front bumper looked boxy. the rest looks curvy.

Speedstick - 3
sorry, the proportions is not good. the nose is like pointing slightly to the right. and i don't like the colour. again, sorry. i hope u may improve.

bm88 - 4
love the brushings. especially the red linings on the black body. love the scoops and spoiler to~!

Thanks for all the votes so far guys! It's really nice to see a contest go so well.

I will be adding my votes later on today.

08-14-2009, 11:59 AM
4 Ruthven
Very cool work! Probably the most creative entry in the contest too! Only criticism is that the roof colour is a little darker than the rest of the car.

3 S2
A nice refinement of the car. Your front end idea is nice but you can see the original through it. I also like the removed vents around the lights.

4 Porsche-Power
Kudos for getting in there first! Nice colour swap and as normal, super BG change too. Colouring on the F430 parts is however slightly off which is a shame.

3 Baji192
Another very creative entry! I really like this idea and it works very well. Shame about the inconsistent lighting though which reduces your score.

2 ACcartoons
Has potential to be a very nice chop but there are too many rough patches. I like the wheels and mirrors but the interior isn't really up to your normal standard.

2 Iqo'
While I do like this 'chop I think you need to try something more drastic. Your mods do improve on the F458 but I would like to see more in PsC09.

4 Kthing
Another 'chop that scores highly for creativity! I really like the idea of the VW supercar and the front grill looks very nice. Can't wait to see more from you!

5 TheophilusChin
Not only super clean but a super concept! I love this 'chop! Front end works really well and the lights are to die for. You need no critique!

4 blackstripe
The F458 makes a surprisingly good NSX also! The colour change is quite nice and I really like the headlights. Black roof is also a nice touch.

4 speedfreak_77
This is a tricky one because while I like the overall 'chop there are aspects that are wrong. The entire front end is at a different angle to the rest of the car but then again the 'chop looks so damn good. Great, but not perfection.

5 mucus
I can't quite put into words how much I like this chop but there is one BIG problem. It needs a McLaren badge! SLR front looks awesome and its a big success IMO.

3 Speedstick
As with speedreak_77 the front end is off which is a real shame. The idea of a Hyundai supercar is interesting and your colour change is immaculate.

3 accurick
Nice neat improvement on the F458 again here. The cut around the headlights is very nice and I also like the vent on the rear wheel arch. The cut on the bottom of the door looks good, but wouldn't work in real life.

08-14-2009, 03:31 PM
i'm expecting my first last place :(

08-14-2009, 04:01 PM
S2-3 (you need to do more!)

08-14-2009, 04:46 PM
Well executed and neat edit, keeping it simple and creating more of a traditional Ferrari look.

Good chop and well done... only slight negative would be that interior looks much sunnier than the grey looking background.

One of my favourites! The sharp Mazda style suits the Ferrari body brilliantly. Particularly like that you develope and refine your interest in Mazda's!

I like the front bumper, the black insert gives it an even angrier face (which is always good!) The fuzziness of the interior and alloys let it down a little. You are improving with each chop, just needing a little more attention to detail.

Looks very chunky and solid. Not too keen on the blue headlights but that is personal preference.

VERY impressive... I think, although not instantly a VW shape, the edits look superb and especially liking the GTi alloys - they look awesome and so chunky!

Looks aggressive, imposing and exceptionally well done, as ever. Now if only they'd make a Peugeot that remotely look that good! Fantastic job, well done.

I love the black roof, works well with the overall shape. Front bumper seems just a little off - but other than that, great edit.

Looks great. The chunky front end seemed at first a strange mix with the svelte, sharp rear. But after a minute or two - I got it and I now think your interpretation is just spot on!

That front bumper is just outstanding. Looks crisp, well integrated and the colour change just completes it. Proof that you don't need to completely change an image to make a dramatic edit.

Beautiful colour, well changed and integrated. The Hyundai face is at odds slightly with the overall shape and the front looks a tad 'flat' but other than that - a great idea, and executed well.

That looks menacing!! Simple edits but the colour sceme, the fins, red bumper inserts... looks great in black and red. Could this be the new Nightrider car?

I like the new face, especially the new vent grille and the lines that flow from the centre of the bumper towards the headlamp. I would go as far to say that I prefer this Ferrari face to the actual production 458. Good job!

Ruthven - 4 - Very cool, liking the chrome surrounds and the placement of the kidney grills. Shape is a bit awkward though, and the nose too low to accommodate an engine.

S2 - 3 - Like the headlights! I was never a fan of the awkward intakes. Not sure about the front fascia though, and the new rear looks a bit bulky. Possibly a bit conservative?

Porsche-Power - 3 - Nice conversion, but as I said the area behind glass needs to be darker as car glass is always tinted, as well as reflects. Weird reflections on the front wheel well, and the interior a little bright for the environment?

Baji192 - 5 - Definitely one of my favorites! Looks like a more production friendly Furai? Shame about the blotchy brushing under the front "grill" though!

ACcartoons - 2 - I like the darker wheels and black mirrors but everything seems a bit blurry or roughly selected and pasted. Needs a bit more attention to detail, this one. Also through the windshield it still has a roof and pillars.

Iqo' - 2 - One of the first things I realized about the 458 was the center front grill lacking paint as well, but doesn' work too well here. The rear intake above the wheels well integrated, still not sure about the tinted headlights.

Kthing - 3 - High quality chop, but the way the hood meets the bumper at only two points is a bit awkward, as is the placement of the VW badge. Wheels are aligned spot-on, but perspective is a bit off, though I don't blame you as donor images with the right angle are difficult to find. The chunky GTI wheels work well, but overall the body shape doesn't really remind of a VW.

TheophilusChin - 5 - Flawless work! Color on the front end may look a TINY bit light though?

speedfreak_77 - 4 - Almost had to give you a 5 for this one, the airbrush work and front/side design is immaculate as usual. What lets this down is that the front end perspective is a bit off in comparison to the body, so the left side of the car appears longer than the right. Also, the paint appears to have a matte quality finish, and the chrome grill and headlights appear blurry. Overall, the car looks extremely nose heavy.

mucus - 5 - Is that an SLR front end?! It works great here, and actually reminds me of the Enzo! It makes the car look wider and appear much more aggressive. I'm still not sure myself whether its good or bad that the angles contrast with the curves towards the rear, but I'm liking the overall effect. Perfect color change also shows that Ferrari's look much better in more subtle colors as opposed to Rosso or Rosso Corsa.

Speedstick - 3 - Interesting idea, but the front end and headlights look a bit warped. Quality color change even if I'm not a fan of the color.

bm88 - 4 - Quality chop, though I think this is more of a Pagani Zonda thing than a Ferrari thing. I'm not sure about the red grill inserts and tinted headlights, and would have loved to have seen a much more aggressive front and side skirts/splitters to go with the scoop and spoiler.

accurick - 3 - Good improvements, I like this more aggressive front fascia and intakes much more than the production ones. Not sure about the side scoop though.
