It looks very close to the production version. The first time I saw it in a Spanish magazine cover I thought that was the production version too, until I read the article.

I already posted the link to these pics in the car spy shots section man since there is already a Ford Galaxy threat As i said, i love this little beauty...i know its still pretty much a conventional MPV but i dunno..its poth classy and sporty and i love the new Ford direction. That colour looks very similar to the one offered for the Opel Astra but it looks fine on the Galaxy.

can anyone clarify if this is an actual concept or the final production version? Everywhere i read suggests final production version...
Because then i will (or not) move it to the approprate section..

Can someone please explain to me why fod is able to produce something like this for the european market, but feels the need to saddle the american market with the free/wind-star and the cancell it because the "couldn't compete". Oy!

No the excuse they love to use is that Americans won't like it. It is too small for their taste. Or in the case of this one that's what they will say and point to the old Oddysey. Or they will point to the Contour and say "We gave you what you wanted and it still didn't sell." Even though the marketing of it sucked and it was priced to close to the larger, similarly equipped Taurus. As for why they can't seem to get the products right over here. And for the record, that's no concept, even though that's what they're calling it. Loose the wood on the dash (maybe), the TV's in the headrests, and the glass roof on lower models, and you've got the production version.

I will have to agree with Omar (again) on this one too, it seems to me its all about costs and how to make cars in the US very affordable. Nodnarb i dont think size has anything to do with it because the US would be even happier if Ford would develop great cars just for the American market. So its not really about if this specific car would be suitable for the american market, but about why doesnt Ford US come up with just as good cars for its home market. Plus even in the case of importing them from US, i dont think a 7-seater MPV like the Galaxy would be considered too small for US.

But then wouldnt that make it more expensive to develop and produce a such an advanced car in the UK Pound and Euro zones?
I think it more comes down to the perception of american consumers by Ford, but i think beyond the next decade will see consolidated 'global' vehicles as such anyway...

If Ford US believes that releasing the Focus MK2 to the US, like it did with great success around the rest of the world, wouldnt make sense profit-wise cause it would cost them more money even though the European division has already spent all the millions of euros for its development...so i doubt they are willing to spent all that money themselves to create higher quality vehicles. Besides it also depends on the buying customer too. Many Americans want products like this, but if Ford ever made them for their market would the same people be willing to pay the extra money?

Just to add to the confusion as to whether this is the production model or a concept:
"Our goal with a new Galaxy will be to offer a true seven seat vehicle that provides the product values this core customer group desires. As you can see from this preview model, all the elements are coming into place, from the refined exterior design to an unprecedented level of interior room and functionality. We think this vehicle will excel in this highly competitive segment."
Martin Smith, Executive Design Director, Ford of Europe.
Some more quotes from him on 4Car:http://www.channel4.com/4car/n...chive
I'm still confused... he says "our goal with a new Galaxy" then calls it a preview model. I presume then it's more likely to be a concept

Remember how the SAV concept looked: really wild and futuristic from the inside..same or Iosis. On the other hand this looks as production ready as the Focus ST looked at Geneva

I don't think anyone doubted/wondered if this is a concept. My point was that this is essentially a concept only in name. What we see here is likely what Europe will be getting, with the few changes noted in my previous post.
