Alfa Romeo will show a spider version of 8C Competizione this month at Pebble beach.

Derived from the Alfa Romeo 8C Competizione, the 8C Spider is purely and essentially a thoroughbred sports car in the traditional Alfa Romeo spirit; it offers sophisticated engineering, a sporty yet elegant shape, and strictly two-seat accommodation.
Created at the Centro Stile Alfa Romeo, the 8C Spider expresses all that is most precious in the companys heritage.
The low and aggressive front or the face of the car is characterised by the classical Alfa Romeo triptychthe central triangular scudetto flanked by horizontal moustaches. The lateral view of the car underscores its compactness and its classical mechanical layout, with longitudinally, front-mounted engine and rear-wheel-drive. The car is sure-footed on its prominent wheels, placed in the four corners. The coda tronca short tail with generous round taillights, typical for an Italian sports car, adds to the purposeful, dynamic image of the 8C Spider.
The interior design reflects the same philosophy; the cockpits non-compromised ergonomics, style, and choice of materials concentrate on one goal only: the ultimate driving pleasure.
Source: Autoscoops/autovisie.nl
Looks like it's coming to be as production form. Wow, I can't wait to see how this one turns out. The 8C was a little cartoonish, but still drop dead gorgeous... I can only assume the convertible will be at least as cool.

Yeah, nice car. It might be a little melodramatic.. but it would suit it even more as a convertible.
I don't really like Alfa's mainstream cars right now.. but I hope they can do this one right.

that thing is gorgeous, i didnt like that pic up top of it and i wasnt even that impressed by the coupe but this spider is just breathtaking.
i remember a while back rumors of a kappa based alfa, well i say gm help out alfa for their return to the U.S. and give them the kappa to maek this on it. i think if alfa seperated themselves with a different engine than the solstice/sky, like if they could somehow fit in that 3.2 l v6 they run in the 159 longitudally and if it could just fit in thsi that would be quite sweet and then as a base engine they could put int he super/turbo (has it been confirmed yet which one?) ecotec fromt eh gxp solstice in this as either a lower powered base engine, or make power how htey feel appropiate and make it like a club sport model with no a/c etc. either way i think this thing would definitely sell as a luxuryt roadster here int eh states

GM and FIAT Auto - the group to which ALFA Romeo belongs - have finalised their "divorce" earlier this year.
No GM to help FIAT for anything (the only kid they have joint custody of it's the Powertrain engine factory - or something like that....)

It looks even better as a roadster than it does as a coupe, thats a rarity in itself and the fact that they made the 8C look better is amazing. Does anyone think they could have got a tighter cover for that Veyron next to it?

, that is much better version than original version i saw at last year's sydney motor show. This car's style looks bit like solstice/sky and it still has classic looks which is good, but would this car is already in first prototype production form at Pebble beach??? I hope so???!!!!

It is a very beautiful car, but with Alfa Romeo's current financial situation, I just can't see it working out.
Also, consider that this would be in the same price range as an Aston Martin V8 Volante (or DB9 Volante?) and the Aston would make a lot more sense.
EDIT: Found an interior pic:
http://www.supercars.net/gallery/119513/4/275.jpg

OMG!!
Those interior pics SCREAM production...
And, as far as ALFA's finances: they are not that bad, considering that the Brand was separated from FIAT and Lancia and joined, if I remember correctly, Maserati...
This is a great looking car, and probably quite fun to drive as well: it would be great to have this car on the road, even as a limited production series, and would make sooo much sense to bring the brand (back) to the USA!
Can't wait to see it in the flesh! :)

Indeed beautiful, but is it really worthy of the 8C name ?!
I think AR is bringing up some old moniker names to help fuel its future posible renaisance.

They've got to build it. You'd find yourself sneaking into the garage at 3am just to look at it one more time.
They've got the Brera to replace the Coupe, this would replace the Spider perfectly.
And it looks production-ready to me.

I hadn't seen any shots of the Brera Spider. Hmmm.
So what do people think? Is this just a show car (with a very well-developed interior), or are Alfa planning to build it?
To me it looks like a production car...

Fiat Barchetta is a possibility given the new concept Sso if that gets the green light then an Alfa version should be a no-brainer. Of course id love it if it was RWD instead of FWD

I decided to post this here because the " what car did you see today " thread was locked, and it's somewhat relevant to the Alfa brand...
So today i saw a Citroen SM, one that i see regularly... then i saw a Triumph TR2. Then i saw this:
http://www.supercars.net/cars/1952.html
On a public road, which i'm sure is completely illegal... just the sound that this thing made... you have no idea. It just filled my heart with joy... Untill i reached for my mobile to take a photo and the battery went dead I swear that what came out my mouth would have made sailors blush.
And then, i saw a Stingray...
