If anyone can read mandarin (potunghua), here is a link that I think says a little about what that rendering is supposed to be:
http://auto.tom.com/1440/1441/2005422-71819.html
Please translate.

It looked like this company took styling Cues from the Pontiac G6 concept and added a hideous grille with a reverse Lexus badge at the front.

That's actually a nice looking car. OK, so it's a tad cartoonish, and it borrows styling cues from just about every far eastern car company you'd care to name, but it does manage to blend them into a fairly cohesive looking whole.

That grille looks a lot like the Toyota crossover SUV concept shown at New York (I believe thats where it was), the body looks like a cross between G6 and an RL (with a huge Arse), and I bet the interior isn't that original either. This design doesn't bother me as much as some of the others, because it is mostly original.

if only they wouldnt copy the lexus badge, i would love to buy this car

Watch out gm! Although it looks similar to ahem, the 1992 Eagle Vision. So the chinese have discovered cab-forward early 90s design; good for them.

04-25-2005, 11:49 AM
"Lexus" G6! Hahaha! Oddly enough, it works!

04-25-2005, 12:25 PM
why would they flip the Lexus badge? is it hard to come up with your own?

04-26-2005, 10:04 AM
holy crap...at first I was asking myself why is this lexus concept mirrored images? Then I found out the truth...whats with chinese car companies and ripping off just about anything and everything from every other car manufacturer?

But then again, the Chinese have never really been the type to give a crap about the concerns of international industry. This is probably their way of forcing out international automakers by remaking the same products cheaper.

04-26-2005, 11:57 AM
That's not really true. China is now a member of the WTO. as such, It is bound to drop import tariffs and allow foreign products into their country (and protect their trademarks). China is on a rush to develop their industries to international standards, so that by the time they have to fully open their borders to international trade, they can compete on equal footing (and beat others on price).

So what you're saying is that eventually they're going to have to make their OWN designs?
That's novel. And a little bit of a comfort. Let's hope someone starts cracking down on the copycats, then.

04-26-2005, 09:09 PM
Wow it looks great. Pity about the badge though, its simply beyond me why they went and did that.

This thing is the Jianghuai Vision.
Anhui Jianghuai Automobile is assembling Hyundai minivans in China under licence from the South KOrean company
Jianghuai is busy developing its first passenger car and this concept hints at the styling.

Thanks for the info Pal. Any word on their choice of logo?

04-28-2005, 11:33 AM
Maybe that inverted L is supposed to be a stylish J. Y'know, with their brand name starting with J and all...

That large picture is really telling. In all honesty, aside from some slightly fussy detailing, this is a really mature well executed concept. The finish on this prototype is quite good, the panel fitment (which really shows up on the large pic) is excellent. The surfaces are well developed, the car really seems to have a theme of it's own. Certainly it borrows from other asian sport sedans in it's style and also has a bit of g6 proportions. However, I think it looks better than the pontiac. Plus the front graphic, the whole grill and chrome surround treatment is quite interesting. Too bad they had to spoil a fairly novel design with a 'knock-off" lexus logo. It definitely has subtle differences; the circle is interrupted by the "j", for instance. It's stilll a bit brazen though and they didn't have to do it. The car actually looks pretty legit on it's own. It's a lot more adventurous and aggressive looking than the new Lex IS (in my humble opinion).
China is definitely in the rear view mirror now, right behind the koreans (who have made astounding gains already!)...
05-04-2005, 05:17 PM
If it was scaled up a little (in size), it would make a nice infiniti I30. It's probably actually a smaller car though, given the tiny chinese models standing near it and other measures in the pics. It's probably closer in size to an imprezza, so maybe it would be a g20 instead.
Still nice.
A suggested alternative logo: I think it would be cool if they machined the shape of the chinese characters for their company name out of billet, set against carbon fiber or some polished dark alloy with a machined ring around the badge. I think people would actually dig that..
It would look especially good on the front of this concept.
