How about this one? Personally I love it and hope that Citroen would make something like it. I suppose with the recent developments of the C3 from the Lumiere and the C6 from the Lignage fresh in memory there is no chance in hell of a car like this, but it is good to dream. If only...
That does look good, but one wonders where the car will fit into the lineup.

there is a VW actually similar to this one..VW is 2 seater, really small...maybe a rival?

I was hoping if Citroen would cash in on the retro small car craze. If they tone down the styling and give it a useful interior, this could be a great production car.

It wasn't expensive to develop because they used the Golf platform, and it's done okay as a niche car.
citroen can base this on the C4 platform, and it will be aimed as a small volume, decent profit car. a nice niche product, and an even nicer money spinner.

No offense, but how ugly is that!! This would compete against the mini, and it would LOSE.

Granted they would both be retro but I find it hard to think that they would appeal the same type of consumers. While BMW went retro and fun with the Mini, Citroen would have to go retro and practical. Just as the originals had different target groups. Also, according to the pictures this car would measure 4.3 m in length which would make it a c-segment car like the VW Golf (and Citroen C4). The more likely competitor, if retro is the standard measured by, would be the New Beetle.
Also, a new Citroen 2CV would primarily appeal to drivers more or less enamoured with the old one. Thus it would be a car for the european market and most likely not imported to America. Does Citroen even sell cars in the north american market?
And, ugly is far better than boring.

I don't know about Canada or mexico. They do sell both Peugeots and Citroens in parts of central america and panama (both which are technically in North America), as well as some south american markets.

Citroens are built in Brazil at the PSA factory... however as Peugeot is present in most of Latin America, Citroen's coverage is less than its brother...

I dont think that was production, it was a concept on how to get the most milege. Their was a popular science article on it a while ago and it got 235 mpg.
http://www.popsci.com/popsci/a....html

It was more like a contest... Some guy drew similar to this one and mailed the pics to VW, and after the VW made the car and kept all credits for themselves, that guy went on to the magazines and showed that he drew it and showed them his drawings..
But I think it may go on sale sometime in the future..

There are no production plans for the 1L concept. It was more of just Piech's plaything while he was there. They have a few other small car ideas that I've seen, but this isn't one of them. I couldn't find anything about the guy's design being stolen either, I've never heard that before. I doubt that his design was even close to the aerodynamic machine this is though. As for the 2CV, I think it could compete with the Beetle if it wanted too. Both were made for people who couldn't afford anything more but needed a car, and both have been fairly popular after they were no longer needed as affordable alternatives to tractors, albeit with different groups. The 2CV would have a smaller niche, but if they wanted to do it then finding buyers wouldn't be a real problem.

I actually read about this guy's drawing.. I read it in one of the toppest UK car magazines... He said that some time ago, VW launched a contest with people drawing a compact car with less engine... He designed the same thing as this one, but the interior was a little bit different.. He then sent that picture to VW, and had no answer.. But then when VW introduced this car to public, he went onto the magazin and showed them the official letters from VW and his drawings... who knows.. maybe he lied..

Sorry for this but.....i hate it. I'd love to see a retro concept based on the 2CV, but this is the worst interpretation i could imagine. Side windows are awful and have no conexion to the original design, not to mention the front lights. What a wasted chance.

Oh yeah, he could not prove it. He showed some drawings, but probably nobody believed him
