Last year, the company built 112,000 Mustangs. The new Mustang convertible went into production in Flat Rock in February.
Although Ford is keeping details of the high-performance Mustang SVT secret until show time, it has provided a sneak peek of the Sport Trac Adrenalin. The concept is extremely close to the production version due in 2007, Ford confirmed, and it signifies SVT's return to performance trucks.
Phil Martens, Ford group vice president of product creation, said the Sport Trac Adrenalin combines the performance of the Ford SVT F-150 Lightning pickup truck, which is no longer sold, with the practicality of four-passenger seating, four doors, a pickup bed and all-wheel drive.
The Sport Trac Adrenalin is derived from the next-generation Sport Trac, which will debut in May 2007. The Adrenalin version, which will be introduced some months after the base model, features a 390-horsepower, 4.6-liter DOHC supercharged V8 paired with a six-speed automatic transmission. All-wheel drive a first for an SVT product and AdvanceTrac with Roll Stability Control round out the package.
What it means to you: Ford is hoping its vaunted SVT squad can pump some enthusiast respect into it's overall product lineup. Given the popularity of the 2005 Mustang, they'll have at least one hit in New York.

I really didn't expect this. It's definitely unique, and I actually like it quite a bit, considering that I found the concept for the mainstream version pretty bland. Looks pretty realistic for production if they add some door handles. With 390hp, it should be stupidly fast, too. Still, I think they could sell a lot more Lightnings. Better yet, they could stuff this V8 into the Fusion along with the AWD system from the Mazdaspeed 6.

If you skirt you eyes enough at that grille, it does look stupidly similar to Audi's! Though it does look great! The black on red treatement looks fantastic! But those healights are a little to Landrover for me...

Ladies and gents, this is a chop! Look at the front right tire; the ground is Red!!!! Anyways, I wonder if they're adding this so that they can make the next Lightning even higher performance?

Hmm ... It looks so close to the earlier SportTrac concept, I wonder if this is, in fact, the same vehicle repainted with some performance additions.

maybe there are neon lights under the bottom of the car that r red and yes all i really see is the earlier sport trac concept but painted red. there must b something really different about this car cuz y would ford put up a picture of a car that already debuted but changed the color? maybe the interior is different or this is a teaser photo of a production one.

It is not a chop. Here are more pics to prove it. Do you people even read the posts? Of course it looks like the SportTrac, because it is one. The difference is that this is the SVT version with a 390hp supercharged V8.
edit: i still want to know how the hell the doors open

and jblair if u look at the ground in the real pics u can kinda see some red

The doors are probably electronically actuated, like ricers do when they shave the door handles. I want to know what happens when the battery dies on those, I guess it has a seperate reserve battery or something. Either way this is a pretty cool concept, I could deal with not having a Lightning if they made this instead.

this is just a performance version of the detroit concept... I think the interior's dashboard is closer to production in this one. I thinks its a major improvement. Ford makes nice TRUCKS.
MAY 2007 release date for new Sport Trac! What is ford thinking?

It looks powerful, I am not sure about the grille tho - idea is good, but plastic looks too thin somehow, like it will fall apart soon.
Interior is futuristic, but is it me, or its angled lines are getting a bit old? Those wents in the middle look like they could have came from late 80's ford...
Good overall...

TCC had pctures of the production version's lateral side in which the door handles (conventional...) where visible.
I hope that the 2006 Explorer looks like similar to this concept...

Heh, Ford is repeating itself. In 1997, there was a concept called the Adrenalin that previewed the 2001 Sport Trac.
The grille makes me think of the 2006 VW Golf GTi.

This looks awesome...really tough looking and has some neat little touches like those side vents....and the grill does look a little to close to audi but suits it..
