According to TCC, Scion will unveil a new concept what shows off Scion's style, versatality, and.... something else. I forgot.
I do remember that it'll be unveiled on March 24th at about 8:30 AM during the New York Auto Show.
I deleted the e-mail too soon. Hahaha.

Among the introductions set for the New York show is a new concept from Toyota's Scion arm. The concept, dubbed t2b, shows off the brand's "style, versatility and surprise," a release said in sufficiently vague prose. No photos were released to accompany the announcement. While media days start on Wednesday the 23rd, the Scion press conference will be held on Thursday morning, the 24th, at 8:30 a.m. at New York's Javits Center
Well, it could be a concept version of the tD? As in "t" to be?
Or it could be a sport-ified redesign of the xB...

the xA is smaller then the xB right?
so to me it sounds like the consept t2b will se smaller the the tC.. and the number 2 might just be a hint to the number of seats .. like the MR2 (Mid-Rear-2seat)

on edmunds.com they said that the concept will be a successor to the xB
TORRANCE, Calif. Toyota sources told Inside Line that Scion's all-new concept vehicle, known as t2B, will provide a sneak preview of the replacement for its current xB model. There was an article on DetNews where officials from Toyota discussed the Echo replacement, the new GS and IS, and the new xA... they said a xA replacement was the next thing to come out from Scion and that there weren't any Scion hybrids in the planned future because the youth market doesn't care about gas mileage...
When did the current Toyota ist (xA) and the Toyota bB (xB) originally released?... maybe that can help determine which model this concept may be replacing..

nstreet16
03-15-2005, 11:27 PM
if i do recall... they said they dont intend on keeping the xA and xB name...so once their model life expires, they will come up with something as a "replacement" for them. It had to do with something about keeping the brand refreshed and young...something like that.

If I remeber correctly and I might be wrong but before Scion was launched or right after the launch someone from Toyota stated that Scions would have shorter product cycles 3-4years as apposed to the 5 year cycles of other manufactures so they could react quicker to changing market conditions and keep the line up fresh for the younger consumers. Is this correct or am I wrong? I am considering an Scion XB as a second car, but I don't want to buy one if is going to change soon after I buy it. I would waite until the next gen model.

you guys have to remember that a lot of "shorter" model life talk has been based on the fact that xA and xB will be replaced soon in Japan.
Other than that, Scions should have normal Toyota cycle if possible.
Also, with regards to talk about not replacing models - it really depends on how they sell. I will bet you anything that xB will be replaced with xB, because the car sells so well, it would be crazy not to use the same name for replacement.

The exterior design is partially attributed to senior designer Jin Kim, who was also responsible for the Toyota FJ Cruiser and Lexus LF-C concepts. Interesting details include a single, offset foglamp up front (it illuminates with the strength of two) and a correspondingly lonely reverse light on the rear, which sits directly opposite the exhaust pipe--a nice touch. Besides traditional lighting setups, the t2b also eschews B-pillars and door handles, opting instead for more 'edgy' modes of entry. Passenger-side access is achieved through a single power sliding door, while the driver's side doors--both of which open a full 180 degrees--are manually operated. (The driver's-side back door is suicide-style, furthering our theory that every modern concept must incorporate this design somewhere.) All doors are opened or unlatched via remote control.
Assaulting your senses with every known type of media, the Scion is a rolling entertainment center. An information display housed in the dash--it looks like Star Trek come to life--allows occupants to download music, games, or movies from the Internet. If you can't find the song or game you want on the Web, simply plug an mp3 player into the dash or a video game system into docking ports located in the cargo area and you're good to go. Movies and games are viewed on the rear window, which serves as a projection monitor that can be seen from inside or out.

In addition to the electronic gadgetry, the t2b boasts a surprisingly roomy cabin, an impression aided by the wraparound windshield and fixed moonroof panels, as well as the upside-down trapezoid shape of the interior. Cabin flourishes include specially contoured seats, zippered storage compartments (including one in the steering wheel), and a unique floor, where the carpet pokes through long, rubberized slots like perfectly manicured hedges in a row. The concept is powered by a 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine mated to a four-speed automatic and rides on twenty-inch polished aluminum wheels.
While the t2b's myriad gadgets ensure that no one mistakes it for anything more than a concept, we think the exterior provides a good hint at the styling direction of the next xB. Scion says the goal for the t2b was to "create a concept which would represent that your car is more than just a mode of transportation, it's a lifestyle." Well, if your lifestyle is based around the need to be constantly entertained, then the t2b might be for you.

I almost like it, but something is holding me back...... what is it?........ OH! I know! Its UGLY!
Ok, so its not that bad. I do like the headlights and the wheels. Much better than the current Xb. The rear pillar must make for a huge blind spot. Not too sure about the asymetry. Either way, it's still a toaster. The Pillsbury Dough Boy would be running away in terror if he got a glimpse of this appliance-eske concept. I give it a B-/C+. Tons better than the Xb, but still "square." Let me look at it for a couple more days and I may change my mind.

If the tC and xB had an ugly, incest child from an unlawful relationship, this would be it.
The marketing guys at Toyota U.S. are stupid dip****s. I'm buying my first car next year. And if this makes production, well, it'll be number one on my "Do Not Buy List". And what's up with having two doors on one side and one on the other? That's just plain retarded, not to mention the one foglamp. The interior promotes a hazard to causing blindness. And I'd bet the lack of speedometer makes this thing an adventure to drive everytime you start the engine. If my generation says "yes" to this toaster-on-wheels if it replaces the xB, I'll go to every Scion lot and set these cars ablaze.

Some are failing to realize that this is a CONCEPT... not all will be carried to production. The doors will most likely be changed to normal 4 doors, the interior will not look like that, there will be smaller wheels, the whole package won't be as dramatic or weird... I think in production form it will look real good.
No speedometer... ok come on obviously it would have one in the production version. I'm in the "GEN Y" group and if done right I'd get one...
