Well, this is a concept so Im making a thread for it.

Quote »

CIVIC CONCEPT
• World premiere of next generation Civic Concept
• New standard for premium C-segment
• Emotional and sporty image
• Engines will include 2.2 i-CTDi plus petrol variants
• Built at Honda’s European manufacturing plant in Swindon, UK
The next generation Civic Concept is shown in the form of a 5-door hatchback. The sculpted design implies a more sporty nature to Honda’s best ever selling model. The 8th generation promises to deliver class exceeding performance as well as high fuel efficiency across all engines, which will take the model into “Premium” C-segment in Europe.
Honda believes that the next generation Civic will set new standards in the ever demanding C segment, particularly in the premium sector. Wider and lower than the current Civic, the next Civic will continue to be built in Honda’s European manufacturing plant in Swindon, UK. The award winning i-CTDi engine will be part of the Civic line-up and will be assembled at the UK factory. The expected output for the Civic i-CTDi is expected to be a class leading 140 PS with a maximum torque of 340 Nm. In addition to the new i-CTDi engine, there will also be petrol engine variants.
The concept car on display shows the intention of moving the new Civic into a more sporty, emotional and fun to drive direction. The new engines will provide class exceeding performance in all areas and it is a firm belief that the next generation will set new standards for the C-segment.
Civic is the best selling model that Honda has had globally. Over 16 million Civics have been produced and sold around the world for the past 33 years, which accounts for 30% of total Honda sales. Civic has frequently been the carrier for Honda introducing new technology for mass consumption, and the next generation will be no exception. Currently, Civics are produced in 11 countries and sold in approximately 160 countries.

Our si concept looked much better

Sooo much better than the current one... And much better than the 3 doors version, to me. It looks much more modern and dynamic, while the "coupe" looks too classical in its proportions. Well done honda.

That looks pretty good. The hidden handle is really cool, and its a fairly interesting look. Not too adventurous, but still stylish and original. I don't like the full length headlight and taillight, but I'm sure that won't stay around. Overall pretty good looking.

this looks awesome, but is this the 5-door model, or a 5-door that's supposed to be a 3-door (like a hatch version of the saturn ion quadcoupe-thingy)? if it's supposed to be a 5-door, then the rear doors look awfully small to me...still, i love it

Im lookin at it and only one thought comes to my mind: CRX. Honda could market this as the next CRX alongside the next gen Civic and Civic Si. They got the euro Accord here. I don't see that they couldn't do the same with this.

okai...i love the front... the rear is something, well, no comment on that. but I would love to see the front on the next gen US Civic.

Some things I like, many I don't. Especially that egg-like rear end treatment. Some of the body line sculpting is nice, though.

Suddenly the Rover 45 looks even MORE dated than it did before..... (for those that don't know, Rover's 45 is based on the Honda Civic from two generations before this car).

I really don't understand why the rear doors and the rear window are so short. Hopefully they change it for the production model because it will be hard to get into the rear seats.

The rear shape looks to me like a Ford Focus...

Can someone chop this and make it a 3-door? I am pretty sure it would look AMAZING!
I cannot wait to see this car in the street...

Dodge Color looks great on this car :-) .

This car looks fantastic. I've added it to my shortlist alongside the Focus ST and Alfa Brera. Just imagine a car that looks this good with the Type-R drivetrain.

I really love this design. I especially like the formation of the headlights and grills into one "slash" shape across the nose. I think it's surprisingly daring for Honda... If only they brought this Civic over to the states, I'd once again strongly consider buying a Civic. (I haven't really loved the Civic since the 96-00 hatchback ceased)
