This is supposed to have some amazing debuts this year, and I'm greatly looking forward to it - it is less than a month and a half from this posting (1/21/09), but, I want to see what's in store for Chicago in the interm, and that's less than a month from now, and currently NAIAS is open to the public..
All the more to anticipate!

Those are mostly performance/different versions of existing cars plus the E-Class and the 3008 which we have already seen...Only the Polo is of any real interest to me to be honest. i am hoping for some surprises

Opel Astra will also be in Geneva.

63Bonneville
01-22-2009, 06:30 PM
I would also hope the new-generation Saab 9-5.

I also saw a report of the new-generation Bimmer 7-Series Alpina edition debuting at Geneva. This will have a higher-tuned Twin-Turbo 4.4L V8 versus the supercharged unit in the last generation.

Great, that most definitely interests me:) No CLK though?

I wonder if we'll see the debut of the production Aston-Martin Rapide in Geneva as well as the Jaguar, XJ, but, the latter would likely be a production-close concept - XJ-C maybe, it it appears.

CosworthKid
01-22-2009, 11:03 PM
Yeah can't wait to see the Astra! When on earth can we expect the Zafira?

Opel usually launches one new product after the other when riding on the same platform if not mistaken. So since the Zafira is Astra-based i would not be surprised if they present it close to the Astra's on-sale date and goes on sale soon after. Actually, come to think of it, Ford is due to give us a glimpse of the C-Max as well, I would not be too surprised if they had a 90% production ready concept at Geneva

DoMiNo
01-22-2009, 11:06 PM
Wouldn't Ford introduce the Focus before the C-Max? They share a platform, right? Or is the C-Max going to continue on the current platform while the Focus moves to a new or heavily-revised version?

CosworthKid
01-22-2009, 11:14 PM
Well the current C-Max came out about a year earlier than the Mk2 Focus hatch/estate/sedan which was based on and everything indicates towards a similar scenario this time as well - C-Max Mk2 launches first followed by a Focus concept and then the production car.
Last time around the Mk2 Focus was actually one of the last C1 models launched (minus the Volvo C30) cause before it they gave the green light first to the C-Max (then badged as Focus C-Max), Mazda3 and Volvo S40/V50.
In a sense it is how the new Seat Ibiza was shown and went on sale prior to the Volkswagen Polo which it is based on.

Also you need to consider that this time around the MK3 Focus is far more important since a simultaneous Europe-NA-World release might be in the cards, yet the C-Max will most probably stay out of Ford NA's portfolio for at least a couple more years, yet in Europe it needs a replacement. So by launching the C-Max first it makes perfect sense and besides, as i mentioned, it is exactly how it happen last time

The Zafira will be released in 2011, so i think we have to wait a little bit :)
First they will bring the new Meriva.

Yeah well, even if they show the new Astra now it will go on sale late 2009. By that time Opel will surely give us a closer glimpse of the Zafira and it should be out by 2010 as a 2011 year model by US standards.

Ascariss why do you say Frankfurt?

the1
01-23-2009, 01:37 PM
Because that's what an older Opel press release was saying though things might change.

Oh i see...so when is the Frankfurt show due?

Ascariss
01-23-2009, 06:25 PM
I am unaware of this press release, but if the astra is due on sale this year, then debuting it at frankfurt is a given since it is a german show and the home market for opel.

I would imagine a zafira concept for next year's geneva show, if one is even planned.

franfkurt is in september of this year, 17-27.

Opel Astra? Don't think so... maybe a close to production 3door concept. Maybe...
The most appealing or big premieres so far seem to be Aston Rapide, new Polo, Chevy Spark, a possible Ford Focus or C-max concept and the Citroen C3. I hope the Jag C-XJ will be here as well. :)

Where did you hear about a Focus concept??? I think that is unlikely since it is the C-Max's turn to make an appearance:confused: Also given how the Mk3 will be offered in the US i would not be too surprised if they showed a concept at the next Detroit show, like the did of the Mk2 sedan in China

I'm looking forward to the Mercedes-Benz E-Class, including AMG version and coupe and the BMW X6 M and the PAS sedan, but, I'm also hoping to soon see the new-generation Jaguar XJ, but this could appear at Frankfurt later in the year. Speaking of Bentley, I was hoping that the FSB/Arnarge successor would appear at Geneva, as well as a (production-close) Lagonda concept, and a debut from Maybach, wither it's a 57/62 successor/next-generation or an addition such as a 4-door coupe to slot under those models, and I believe AMG will premiere the upcoming Gullwing.

Ascariss

Is the astra confirmed for geneva? because I don't think it is, even though the car is finished more or less.

If it shows up at geneva, perhaps ford will counter the hype with some kind of concept for the focus? would be the best idea to steal the show away from opel in the C segment of course.

If the astra is revealed at frankfurt, then a focus concept could be shown there? if one exists?

Andrus

if the rumors are true, then Artega GT Roadster (http://www.globalmotors.net/rendered-speculation-2010-artega-gt-roadster/) will be one of the nicest new models being introduced

No Opel Astra. Meriva for sure. :) Maybe a close to production 3door concept Astra, but not so sure about it. Both the new Astra and a Focus concept would probably appear in Frankfurt, this Sept. We should see a C-Max or a B-Max concept in Geneva though.

Alfa 149? I think it will show up in Frankfurt as well, given that camouflaged prototypes have just been snapped.

The Skoda Yeti SUV will be officially unveiled at next month's Geneva motor show.

The Nissan Qashqai and Fiat Sedici rival will be available in both four- and front-wheel-drive versions.

Many of its parts are taken from the Volkswagen Tiguan, and it is expected to be powered by a range of engines similar to those used in the VW.

Skoda will also display the eco special Octavia Greenline. Powered by a 105bhp 1.6-litre diesel engine with 184lb ft of pulling power, it will average 64.2mpg and have CO2 emissions of just 116g/km.

Jaguar press conference is scheduled on March 3 at 15.45...

Lagonda and C-XJ. Can't wait to see these.

I've heard about the reborn Lagonda debuting, and it was mentioned elsewhere on this site, and some speculation cropped up about a production-close next-generation Jaguar XJ concept; I hope for this one, too!

Even though there is a Bentley up for debut in the form of a Bio-Fuel edition of the Continental GT, I'm also hoping for a next-generation FSB Bentley next-generation Arnarge - that would also be REALLY nice!! I also believe the Rolls-Royce RR4/Silver Ghost could be up for a premiere at Geneva, and I know the gullwing AMG SLC is slated to appear. I'm also wondering about the production Aston-Martin Rapide, if it's set for Geneva.

Correct me if I'm wrong with anything I had posted above.

the1
02-17-2009, 09:59 PM
I'm not sure about the SLC, while the Bentley probably won't show up. But, the Lagonda, RR4, C-XJ are almost sure, while the Rapide will definately be on display.

If an Arnage concept would be launched the only super luxury maker missing out would be Maybach... Is Ferrari showing anything?

I'm almost sure of the SLC premiering.

Maybach is debuting the Zeppelin edition, which, I feel, may be the swansong of the current generation prior to the successors and line-up expansion via project Romeo & Juliet with Aston Martin (Lagonda is also a result, I gather)

I believe Ferrari may have a special edition model based on the 599.

Just a thought:
Jaguar will introduce something new on March 3. But what is the point of introducing the XJ in concept form only 5 months before the official pictures and 6 months before the official introduction? And furthermore, we know that Lagonda will introduce a concept and Rolls-Royce the all new RR4. It means that Jaguar will not have the monopoly of luxury saloons in Geneva. My thought is: Could Jaguar introduce something else? A "Green" concept? Or will Jaguar introduce the XJ in production version?

the1
02-18-2009, 03:54 PM
If they do show the XJ in production form they might steal the show, though with the Lagonda, Rapide and RR4 on display they might decide to wait for another show. Who knows? It might be a roadster/sports car concept.

Some information and official details regarding the AMG SLC "Gullwing", officially named the SLS AMG, is being released at the Geneva press conference, I understand, which is excellent, but, I'm a little disappointed that the final vehicle is not debuting at the Motor Show, then again, half a loaf is better than none. The link from today's Autoblog report (2/2/09) is below:

I believe there will be a higher edition of the AMG SLS Gullwing sometime after the model is introdced, I don't exactly know the powerplant, if a higher-output V8 or a V10 (which will be a Maybach powerplant eventually). MCLAREN_P10, who leads and adds reports to the "20?? Supercars" thread is presently in Geneva for the major event, and he'll he updating the thread as he compiles reports and information.

Yes, weird. Opel showed us nothing, apart from the rebadged Volt.

The Aston One-77 looks quite decent in that vid - I don't usually like it. Probarbly the colour.
