I've just noticed that its a Saab 93 rather than 95, but since nobody noticed I won't change the graphics! lol

Also, I guess I should explain the contest...

Me and Ascariss were talking about how we could make the contests a little bit more like they were around 2005. We had loads of really great entries from a lot of respected choppers. Obviously we'll try some of the suggestions posted by you but to kick off 2009 we've decided to go back to basics with two really nice simple pics that everybody can chop into something.

Also, as it's fair to say that most members would have no idea I actually do chops I might come out of my four year hibernation and actually make an entry!

Hey Moorhouse, im relatively new to these photochop competitions but im just wondering, with the voting, what are we actually voting for? What is the criteria? Are we voting for quality of the chop, originality etc??

And yes you should definitely put in an entry :-D

Ascariss

you are voting for which photo will be the contest photo.

Oh, i knew that part, what i meant was once a photo has been chosen for the contest, what is the criteria for voting for the photoshop entries.

Yeah, there are no real criteria of what your voting for. The only rule is that you vote for the individual chop rather than the person that created it. Sometimes a chop might not be technically the best but it will have a fantastic idea behind it so basically, anything goes! There was also a message I had last year about if people that take part can vote. You can, but your not allowed to vote for yourself.

Well the image has been chosen...

Well I thought we shouldn't start the year on a mistake!

I'm working on an entry too! A pretty basic "Viggen" version of the car.

Just had a contest related idea...

To complete the new style of contest how would it be if people posted their chop as a smaller thumbnail linked to the big image? Lets give it a go for this contest...

If people could upload their full size image as well as a smaller (300x225) thumbnail the voting stage could look really great (as long as everyones chop included their name somewhere obvious).

[URL="?"]![/URL

? - URL to full size image.
! - URL for 300x225 thumbnail.

Add a ] at the end to close the URL tag.

It will only take people an extra minute so if people would give it a go it'd be great!

Great idea, Ben. If you don't mind me co-opting your idea, I may have to try this in the design contests :)

One of my favourite quotes!

Wait till you see the trick I have up my sleeve when it comes to voting...

How is everyones entry coming along anyway?

Mine is getting there and I'll be posting over the weekend hopefully.

I may enter. We'll have to see. (graduate school has been getting in the way of doing anything photoshop-related)

Is this good about the new style thing? It's realy difficult to do that.

I add my name on the fullsize image and the thumbnail

Porsche-Power - Pretty good work. IMO it looks a lot like a Porsche 924 from the glasshouse backwards. Could you add your name somewhere either on the fullsize image or on the thumbnail? If you'd prefer I do it just leave it a couple of days or send me a PM. Thanks

Anyway, my first chop in four years:

http://a.imagehost.org/0061/small.jpg (http://a.imagehost.org/0022/big.jpg)

I created a Viggen sports version of a facelifted 93. Most of the mods are brushed too (including the studio background).

How is everybody else getting along?

I was looking at older Saabs to get inspiration, the 900 influenced the back, the 96 wing details.

Good to see you entering Moorhouse, I was thinking if that's the Viggen version, how aggresive looking would the meat eating version be? lol....

Porsche-Power

Moorhouse I add my name on the fullsize image and on the thumbnail

Accurick: Nice shop! But I think that the door can be a little bit longer. En de backwindow-line is a little bit strange. But it is a great shop

Moorhouse: Nice too! It is a agressive look. But de air outtake is a little bit fake. But another good shop! Keep it going!

Thanks for adding your name. :)

Yeah, the side of the car was a bit of a problem really. I tried a few different things but none really seemed to work so I just slipped in the little vent and I think it looks okay, but like you say - a little fake.

EDIT:
Just noticed that your posted images were 320 (my fault as I gave two different dimensions here and in the rules section) so I just made them smaller and edited your posts. The grand plan is that by posting them smaller I can just add up all the URL and IMG tags to make a nice gallery at the end that you click on to view the full size pic, rather than having the list of names underneath. I'm just trying to shed all the ugly text elements of the contests...

mucus: Nice chop, and I like the lavender colour also. If I was being picky I'd say that there is a slight colour difference between the front bumper and front wing.

Can't wait to see some more entries! The contest is shaping quite nicely.

Fantastic entries so far, I am not sure my will be eligable, seeing as the only thing original left is parts of the lower bumper and the license plate.

Here's mine, the Saab ViggenX. Not too much has changed overall, but I heavily modded the front, and changed the rear to be more in line with the AeroX and 9X concepts. (more upright, less hunchback) Like Moorhouse, this is my first chop in, oh, probably a year and a half (if not more) so its a tad rusty.

TheophilusChin: Really impressive clean execution of quite a complicated bit of chopping. My only problem is the wheels as they have totally different shading.

JBlair: Really like this, the boxy stance looks a bit like a Nissan Stagea (which is good as I like those). Still aren't sure about the harsh right angle between windscreen and side windows but its great overall work!

Do we have any other entries?

well here is my cruddy entry, I am still not happy with the door handles and the side swoosh, but I got lazy there. The A pillar is borked, but I don't care. I should have changed the side mirrors but couldn't find anything decent.

What is original you ask? the rear fuel door, the lower bumper (part), license plate and part of the left headlight :P If people think I did too much and not enough of the original is left, I can remove the entry no problem since unlike all the other entries mine is almost completely donored from an opel insignia, although much of the parts of been modified to fit, yes underneath is the old saab since originally I wanted to use the 9-3 side.

I'm okay with you entering as having seen the WIP shots I know its based from the original contest pic but as time went on you did a slightly more in-depth background change than normal.

Some parts here and there don't look 100% finished but I think we're all happy that you've made an entry!

I'll be closing the entries in about 24 hours time so get your entry posted if you haven't already!
