There are no better pics yet because this picture was taken with a webcam that the Chicago auto show website has on it.

from the chicago autoshow official site!!<p>Dodge Nitro Concept<p><br><I>Previewing the forthcoming Dodge mid-size SUV is the Nitro concept vehicle, making its bow at the 2005 Chicago Auto Show. It is both sleek and utilitarian, indicating it being poised for work and play. The exterior is finished in Anodized Red and set off by 20-inch cast aluminum wheels. Chrome, silver and red accents mark the interior, which features a three-pod, four gauge instrument cluster with electroluminescent lighting. The seats are black leather with red inserts for luxury, while the rear floor is textured vinyl and slides forward when the rear door opens. Power comes from the Dodge 3.7-liter overhead cam V-6, which generates 210 horsepower. A four-speed automatic spins a full-time four wheel drive system. Dodge is hoping to create some excitement at the show and slingshot its entry into the SUV slot below the Durango.</I><p><IMG SRC="http://chicagoautoshow.com/uploads/floor/9EDE5AEC2AD448F0863D92011040E9FD.jpg" BORDER="0"><IMG SRC="http://chicagoautoshow.com/uploads/floor/3711FC7AEBA84B90B02D2847EBB03C78.jpg" BORDER="0"><br><IMG SRC="http://chicagoautoshow.com/uploads/floor/3F9227A00CA940629E243D8152E96B50.jpg" BORDER="0"><IMG SRC="http://chicagoautoshow.com/uploads/floor/A0E9273E92F44396AB53A304EFFCC473.jpg" BORDER="0"><br><IMG SRC="http://chicagoautoshow.com/uploads/floor/EF426626C9794B0F83BF6DB1EE6AC586.jpg" BORDER="0"><IMG SRC="http://chicagoautoshow.com/uploads/floor/C2B5FBCFFCE94523A78D42CA17BA8EF6.jpg" BORDER="0"><br><IMG SRC="http://chicagoautoshow.com/uploads/floor/63EDB5F7597B4387961EB010844D2391.jpg" BORDER="0"><IMG SRC="http://chicagoautoshow.com/uploads/floor/43960D58A4444DD7A7AD9AE094C50E5F.jpg" BORDER="0"><br><IMG SRC="http://chicagoautoshow.com/uploads/floor/E133996E18364D81A441E50F8BAEF155.jpg" BORDER="0"><IMG SRC="http://chicagoautoshow.com/uploads/floor/A2B30F1EBAF244D28C012CC0E993FF9E.jpg" BORDER="0"><p><br><BR><BR>

HOly Crap! Is this really based off Liberty. Exterior is almost 100% different!! I can see Liberty in the interior, but its' still different enough to be cool. Way to go Dodge!

Yawn. Reminds me of an old Dakota's grille/headlights, Hummer profile, Aston side gill, old (80's)Cherokee butt, Mitsu interior. It is not very exciting. Put a Jeep grille on it and it is what the Liberty should have been:an update of the "classic" Cherokee. Still, it is the best looking vehicle in it's class.

That looks more like a production car then a concept, overall the car looks great but im not too much into the head lights

To GM- they built two vehicles off the same platform and they are not identicle- isn't that neat how that can be done?!? <IMG NAME="icon" SRC="http://www.germancarfans.com/images/forums/bonk.gif" BORDER="0">

WOW, great job Dodge. This is such a neat design and it pretty much is an M80 suv. I wonder if the Slide N' Glide feature will make it to production. Wow, I just cant get over how sporty this is.

the rear and side seem to say pathfinder and the front view looks weird, the font fenders are too big, the interior looks good though

Concept my <IMG NAME="icon" SRC="http://www.germancarfans.com/images/forums/moon_1_D.gif" BORDER="0"> <p>This is probably 99.9% the final thing!<p>It looks like they've even fixed the rear space issue that kills my opinion of the Liberty.<p>Pretty cool entry in segment. I think that the Ford Escape will have its hands full with this one <IMG NAME="icon" SRC="http://www.germancarfans.com/images/forums/ylsuper.gif" BORDER="0">

It's based off the Liberty which is pretty compact. Is Dodge stretching the platform in any way, and does anybody have any specs on this? And to say this slots below the Durango doesn't really say much, as the Durango is as big as a Tahoe. And with the DCX 3.7L V6 and a four speed automatic this thing's going to suck gas like it's going out of style. Speaking of style, generally pretty nice, though the front is a little wierd.

As for it's off-road prowes, I can't imagine that it would be any more capable than a liberty, which is definitely above-average, but with compromises made in the way of power (the engine is a bit underpowered) and suspension travel (the independent suspension limits the ultimate capabilities that jeeps like the wrangler and to a lesser extent the GC have).

Nice SUV Dodge. Very tough and rugged. I wonder how big it actually is gonna be..? I hope not midsize... I think it will make a bigger affect on the market if its competes with the Escape sized trucks...

it was more the LR3 / Discovery i was think it looked like with the side gills are pure land rover as is the falt surface to the sides<p>very nice modern with a bit of a retro touch to it

Build it. Build it. Build it as it looks right now. The is a much more successful design than the Durango which just looks strange from some angles. The Nitro looks very harmonious. It's too bad that Jeep did such a bland Grand Cherokee they need to hire the Nitro's stylist to do a make over that injects some testosterone into the GC. This will sell like crazy.

It'd look better with M80-ish lights, but then maybe it's infringe on the Jeep design.

Looks good; but for some reason it looks more "Jeep" than the Liberty it's based on. (Reminds me of the Liberty's predecessor, the Cherokee--same headlamp design, squared shoulders, window profile etc.) Change those fenders to the Jeep corporate look (aka square-ish) and we'd have a deal. Still, I know DCX had to cut costs somewhere; now looks like this and Nissan are the only real trucksuv designs to beat.

<br>There is a lot of H3 at the rear -- also, the side profile does have a ton of Rover in it. Look particularly at the front and rear overhang proportions, which scream LR. This does an amazing job of disguising the Liberty underneath. Is the front end supposed to preview a new Dodge face? That's pretty hot.<p>I'll go out on a limb and predict that if they build it, it will sell. :) Are they talking Liberty pricing for this?<br>

Hey, this is one Dodge I would like to own. Heh, this is what the Durango should have been. I don't really care if it looks like a Land Rover LR3, I think this truck is stunning. Way to go Dodge, you may have hit a big homerun. <IMG NAME="icon" SRC="http://images.zeroforum.com/smile/emthup.gif" BORDER="0"> <IMG NAME="icon" SRC="http://www.germancarfans.com/images/forums/beerchug.gif" BORDER="0"> <IMG NAME="icon" SRC="http://www.germancarfans.com/images/forums/icondrool.gif" BORDER="0"> <IMG NAME="icon" SRC="http://www.germancarfans.com/images/forums/2cool.gif" BORDER="0"> <IMG NAME="icon" SRC="http://www.germancarfans.com/images/forums/suave.gif" BORDER="0"> <IMG NAME="icon" SRC="http://www.germancarfans.com/images/forums/ylsuper.gif" BORDER="0">
