It's that time of year again where we at CarSpyShots.net like to give out the industry recognized Chop of The Year Award to represent
the very pinnacle of Photoshoppery in the automotive sector.

For the newcomers this contest is simple. Post what you believe is your best chop of 2008 (it doesn't have to be a contest entry) before
January 5th. Then the entries will be put into the virtual lions den that is commonly known as "voting" where the kind members will
ruthlessly judge your work.

So, best of luck!

On the retrospective look back of the year front. It's been quite a quiet year here in the Photoshop Contests area so if anyone has any
suggestions on how things can be improved please post them up too as it could be time we have a little shuffle with the rules and things
before the 2009 season starts.

I can also congratulate TheophilusChin on winning his third season of Photoshop Contest meaning he is now the Photoshop Contest
Champion of 2006/2007/2008. Is anyone going to pick up the virtual gauntlet and whoop his ass in 2009? :P

Anyway, thanks for another interesting year, post up your favourite chop and best of luck to you all in 2009!

I guess I choose my Passat's.

And the Phaeton to go with it. If I can only have one, take the Passat's.

My entry would probably have to be my Mazda 6 Coupe :-) It was my first chop on this site, and it got picked up by Jalopnik :-D

Guess I should've made it clear that your only allowed the one entry...

Baji192: Which of the two images would you like to choose? Post a message or just edit the message. Thanks.

It's not my most intensive shop, but one of my best (and shows how GM should've done it...)

As we're still missing a lot of members posts here I am going to leave it open until Friday night.

Anyone going to post up some suggestions too?

I had one...

How about people can make more than one chop, people can vote on two or more by the same artist, but only the one with the highest points will be counted up and added to the total?

I think then that whoever posts the most chops will win if all the votes for that person are counted as a whole, or it will hurt that person if it splits the votes between their chops and they're counted seperately.

Either way, I don't think it's gonna work.

Either way, I don't think it's gonna work.

It was just a suggestion as nobody else has come up with anything. :fear:

I just see that the contests seem to be becoming less and less popular year on year so we could really do with a major rule change to get people back into them.

I think it's got more to do with the images we've gotta chop. There's been some shockers, the angle's all wrong, or the car's covered in reflections, of the body just isn't great for photoshopping. There's also gotta be significant scope for improvement, and something decent to build off and build too (for example, a german sedan into a DTM car).

The once-you-post-your-pic-that's-it rule needs to go IMO, the threads are pretty-much dead and I think that affects the chop rate.

Also, perhaps it could be a good idea to work it backwards. Instead of giving people one pic to work with, give them a few options (say 3 donor images), and make a goal, like SuperGT or nascar or something.

Maybe push the site's spy shots theme; either make a car camo'd, or un-camo a car.

Some good ideas there, some we might try this time around.

What would people think to this:

Choose any image from http://www.seriouswheels.com/cars/2009/top-2009-BMW-Z4-Roadster.htm and make it into another car.

So everyone would have a similar theme (as it'd be the same base car) and then we'd get lots of different end results?

I don't have Photoshop installed at the moment. Both my Hard drives blew up. So I can't enter, sorry. =(

That's on the right track, I think, but those images are all shockers (I was going to chop one when they first came out, but all the pics sucked...and still suck).

well this is a surprise, I never meant to enter anything, but I liked the jag wagon a lot when I was making it. I still think a wagon for the XF would be a nice addition to the lineup.
